A Simple Favor Turns Into a Deadly Escape
Out of nowhere—everything unravels.
Gold Land, an intense new Korean crime thriller, is set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ on April 29. The series follows a seemingly ordinary airport employee whose life takes a shocking turn after she’s unknowingly pulled into a smuggling scheme. Suddenly, she’s left holding a massive cache of gold—and being hunted by some of the most ruthless figures in Korea’s underworld.
What follows is a heart-racing journey where every move could mean survival… or capture.
A Fresh Start Gone Terribly Wrong
At the center of the story is Heeju, a young woman eager to leave her troubled past behind. Living in a quiet provincial town, her life begins to look brighter when she falls for a successful pilot. With a stable job at the airport and new opportunities ahead, things finally seem promising.
But then—one urgent call changes everything.
Drawn into a dangerous situation by her boyfriend’s plea for help, Heeju soon finds herself fleeing with gold bars in tow, racing toward a place she once swore never to return to. Suspense builds as her past and present collide in unexpected ways.

Powerhouse Talent On and Off Screen
Taking on the lead role is Park Boyoung (Light Shop), delivering a riveting portrayal of Kim Heeju—a woman pushed to her limits. Alongside her is Kim Sung Cheol (No Way Out, Troll Factory), who plays Woogy, a relentless figure from the criminal organization determined to track her down.
The series is written by Hwang Joyoon, the acclaimed screenwriter behind Old Boy and Memoir of a Murderer, marking his first major streaming project. Direction is handled by Kim Sunghoon (Chief Detective 1958, Confidential Assignment), whose cinematic style heightens the tension and drama throughout.
