  • From Aswang to Zombies: 7 Terrifying Prime Video Horror Picks for Halloween

From Aswang to Zombies: 7 Terrifying Prime Video Horror Picks for Halloween

Filipinos love a good scare. Whether it’s an eerie aswang story told by our grandparents, a mysterious White Lady sighting, or a late-night conversation about the manananggal, there’s something about supernatural tales that keeps us both terrified and intrigued.

And with Halloween just around the corner, what better way to embrace the spooky season than with a horror marathon?

This Halloween, Prime Video brings together a frightening lineup of horror movies and series featuring everything from flesh-eating monsters to cursed families and sinister spirits.

Ready to find out which terrifying characters might haunt your dreams? Here are seven nightmare-worthy titles to add to your Halloween watchlist.

    1. Apocalypse Z: New World

Think an aswang is terrifying? Imagine an entire world crawling with flesh-hungry creatures!

In Apocalypse Z: New World, the infected turn humanity’s worst nightmare into a terrifying reality. The second installment of the post-apocalyptic saga takes viewers to the Canary Islands, Europe’s last remaining refuge following the devastating TSJ virus outbreak.

    Apocalypse Z
    Apocalypse Z: New World

When a special team heads to mainland Spain in search of essential supplies, their dangerous mission becomes even more complicated with the arrival of Roberto (Carlos Alcaide), whose intentions are anything but reassuring.

With ravenous infected lurking around every corner and trust becoming a luxury, survival is far from guaranteed.

The real nightmare: When the world is overrun by monsters, sometimes the humans beside you are just as frightening.

Apocalypse Z: New World premieres on Prime Video on October 30.

    2. Carrie

High school can be brutal. But when bullying meets supernatural powers, things can get deadly.

Based on Stephen King’s iconic novel, the new Carrie series introduces Carrie White (Summer H. Howell), a teenager struggling with her father’s sudden death, merciless bullying, and the harsh realities of social media.

    Carrie
    Carrie

As a humiliating incident spreads online, Carrie discovers that she possesses extraordinary telekinetic abilities. Unfortunately, keeping those powers under control becomes increasingly difficult as her emotional turmoil intensifies.

And when someone who’s been pushed too far finally fights back, everyone may have reason to be afraid.

The real nightmare: The scariest person in the room might be the one everyone thought was powerless.

    3. KMJS’ Gabi ng Lagim The Movie

Remember staying up late watching Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho’s Gabi ng Lagim, only to regret it when it was time to turn off the lights?

Now, those familiar childhood chills come to the big screen with KMJS’ Gabi ng Lagim The Movie, an anthology featuring three frightening stories inspired by real events.

    GNL
KMJS’ Gabi ng Lagim The Movie

In Pocong, a cadet seafarer experiences terrifying encounters with a mysterious presence aboard his ship. Meanwhile, Berbalang follows disturbing rumors of a flesh-eating creature linked to a missing body.

And if demonic possession is your biggest fear, Sanib delivers the unsettling story of a young girl taken over by an evil spirit.

The real nightmare: These stories hit differently when the monsters come from folklore and supernatural beliefs familiar to Filipino audiences.

    4. Nokturno

What would you do if an unexpected knock at your door wasn’t from a visitor but a warning of death?

In Nokturno, Filipino folklore takes a sinister turn with the arrival of the Kumakatok, a supernatural entity associated with impending death.

    nokturno

After her sister dies under mysterious circumstances, overseas worker Jamie (Nadine Lustre) returns to her hometown, hoping to uncover the truth.

Instead, she discovers that her family is trapped in a terrifying curse rooted in secrets from the past.

As the sinister presence grows stronger, Jamie must confront the darkness threatening everyone she loves.

The real nightmare: Sometimes, the most terrifying sound isn’t a scream. It’s a knock you wish you hadn’t heard.

    5. In My Mother’s Skin

Forget the friendly fairies from bedtime stories. This one might make you wish you never believed in magic.

Set in the Philippines during World War II, In My Mother’s Skin follows a young girl desperate to save her critically ill mother.

With few options left, she seeks help from a mysterious fairy who appears to offer the miracle her family desperately needs.

    But there’s a horrifying catch.

Beneath the fairy’s seemingly harmless appearance lies something deeply sinister, turning an innocent act of hope into an unforgettable nightmare.

The real nightmare: The creature promising to save your family might be the very thing that destroys it.

    6. P77

Creepy hallways, suspicious noises, and unsettling neighbors? Sounds like the beginning of another Filipino ghost story.

In P77, Luna (Barbie Forteza) takes a housesitting job in a high-rise building while looking after her sick younger brother, Jonas (Euwenn Mikaell).

    p77

What initially seems like a simple way to earn money soon spirals into a terrifying ordeal when strange occurrences begin revealing the building’s dark secrets.

With supernatural danger creeping closer, Luna must find a way to protect herself and her brother before it’s too late.

The real nightmare: Imagine realizing that the place you’re staying in might never let you leave.

    7. Deleter

Think your office job is stressful? Imagine encountering something sinister every time you sit in front of a computer.

In Deleter, Nadine Lustre plays Lyra, an online content moderator whose work involves reviewing and removing disturbing videos from the internet.

But after she deletes a graphic video created by a colleague who later dies, her already unsettling job takes a horrifying turn.

    deleter

Strange encounters begin haunting Lyra, blurring the lines between psychological trauma and something far more supernatural.

As the terror escalates, one question remains: Is the nightmare happening inside her mind, or is something truly following her?

The real nightmare: You can delete a video, but what happens when the horror refuses to disappear?

Ready for a Fright Night? Prime Video Has You Covered!

From the terrifying Kumakatok and sinister fairies to relentless infected and vengeful supernatural forces, these Prime Video horror titles prove that fear comes in many forms.

  • Ito ang Homecourt Mo! ESPN on Disney+ Brings NBA, UFC and More to Filipino Sports Fans

Ito ang Homecourt Mo! ESPN on Disney+ Brings NBA, UFC and More to Filipino Sports Fans

Filipino sports fans now have another reason to keep Disney+ on the home screen.

ESPN on Disney+ is officially available in the Philippines, bringing a wide range of live sports, replays, studio programs, documentaries, and original content to subscribers through a dedicated ESPN hub inside the new Disney+ app.

The launch also comes with a fitting rallying cry for local fans: Ito ang Homecourt Mo!

It is a campaign built around something Filipinos know well: showing up for the big game, staying glued to every crucial possession, arguing over predictions, and celebrating the moments that become instant conversation starters.

With ESPN now part of the Disney+ experience, those moments have a new home.

A New Home for Live Sports on Disney+

Through the ESPN navigation tab, subscribers can access sports programming led by ESPN’s coverage, commentary, analysis, and studio production.

The line-up stretches across basketball, mixed martial arts, motorsports, college sports, documentaries, and more, while still sitting alongside Disney+‘s entertainment library from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, Hulu, and other brands.

The Philippines is an incredibly important sports market in Asia Pacific, with a deep-rooted passion for basketball and combat sports and a fan base that brings tremendous energy to the region’s sports culture,” said Kylie Watson-Wheeler, Head of ESPN, Asia Pacific.

As we continue to expand ESPN’s presence across Asia Pacific, the Philippines plays a key role in that growth. Bringing ESPN to Disney+ allows us to build on that passion, connecting Filipino fans with more of the sports, athletes and stories they love, while strengthening ESPN’s position as a leading sports destination across the region.

For local viewers, the appeal is immediate. Basketball remains deeply woven into Filipino culture, while UFC and other combat sports continue to command a loyal following. Putting both under one streaming roof gives fans a more convenient way to follow major events without leaving the Disney+ app.

    NBA Games Take Center Court

Naturally, the NBA is one of the biggest draws.

ESPN on Disney+ will feature marquee matchups during NBA Tip-Off Week, beginning on October 22 with the Minnesota Timberwolves taking on the Miami Heat. The Golden State Warriors will then face the Los Angeles Lakers.

The following day, October 23, the Cleveland Cavaliers are scheduled to meet the Philadelphia 76ers, while the Oklahoma City Thunder go up against the Denver Nuggets.

Across the season, subscribers can also follow live games featuring popular teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, and Boston Celtics.

Christmas Day should be another major date on the calendar, with all Christmas Day games set to be available. The schedule includes the San Antonio Spurs versus the New York Knicks, as well as the Los Angeles Lakers against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The postseason will also be represented, with playoff coverage from the First Round through the Conference Semifinals and Conference Finals. The Western Conference Finals will stream live on Disney+, while the Eastern Conference Finals and NBA Finals will be available on demand.

And for fans who want more than the games themselves, ESPN on Disney+ will also carry NBA studio shows and NBA-produced programming such as NBA Tip-Off, Inside the NBA, NBA Countdown, NBA Today, and NBA Action.

    UFC Action Joins the Line-Up

For fight fans, the arrival of UFC programming gives the service an equally compelling second pillar.

ESPN and UFC are bringing live numbered events, UFC Fight Nights, classic bouts, curated fight libraries, and behind-the-scenes programming to subscribers in the Philippines.

The action is scheduled to begin with UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi on October 25, featuring two expected world title bouts.

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski is set to face undefeated No. 1-ranked contender Movsar Evloev, while UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan is expected to defend his title against former champion and No. 1-ranked contender Merab Dvalishvili.

Beyond the marquee fights, subscribers can watch programs including UFC Countdown, UFC Connected, UFC Main Event, UFC Fight Flashback, UFC Reloaded, and ROAD TO UFC.

The latter is especially relevant to the region, giving top professional MMA prospects from Asia-Pacific a direct pathway toward competing in UFC.

Formula E, March Madness, NBL and More

The sports offering goes well beyond basketball and MMA.

ESPN on Disney+ will also feature the Formula E 2026/27 season, including practice sessions, qualifying, and main races across 21 rounds in 13 host cities.

College sports fans can look forward to NCAA events, including March Madness, while followers of Australia’s National Basketball League will have access to live games across the regular season and championship series.

There is also plenty for viewers who prefer sports storytelling over live competition.

ESPN’s acclaimed 30 for 30 documentaries remain part of the Disney+ line-up, alongside studio shows such as ESPN FCand Pardon the Interruption.

That combination gives the ESPN hub a broader identity. It is not simply a place to watch the final score unfold, but also a destination for analysis, personalities, history, and the stories behind the athletes.

Sports and Entertainment in One App

We’re thrilled ESPN on Disney+ is now streaming for subscribers in the Philippines, bringing live sports, studio shows, documentaries, original programming and more to fans in one dedicated destination,” said Vineet Puri, Vice President and General Manager, Emerging Southeast Asia, The Walt Disney Company.

ESPN on Disney+ gives fans a new home ground for sports entertainment, with adrenaline-pumping action that is the perfect match-up with Disney+ must-stream shows and movies. With our new brand campaign, Ito ang Homecourt Mo!, we are celebrating the passion fans in the Philippines bring to every game, screen and shared conversation — all on one platform together like only Disney+ can do.

That mix is likely to be one of the platform’s biggest selling points.

One night can be reserved for an NBA matchup or UFC card. The next can be spent catching up on a Korean Original, Marvel series, animated favorite, or documentary.

For households with very different viewing habits, that makes Disney+ a more versatile entertainment option.

    What’s Next on Disney+

Outside sports, subscribers in the Philippines can also look forward to upcoming Asian original content such as the Korean titles The Remarried Empress and Portraits of Delusion.

Disney+ will continue to offer entertainment from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and Hulu, giving viewers a broad mix of sports, movies, series, factual programming, and originals in one place.

Fans can also follow highlights, updates, and key ESPN moments through Disney+ Philippines’ social media channels throughout the season.

For now, though, the message is simple.

Whether you are tracking every NBA possession, counting down to the next UFC card, following a Formula E race weekend, or settling in for March Madness, ESPN on Disney+ wants to be the screen you turn to first.

    Ito ang Homecourt Mo!

Disney+ Review: In Search of Meaning in the First Four Episodes of ‘VisionQuest’

After an oversaturation of comic book movies and shows, Spider-Man: Brand New Day reminds us that a truly great superhero story must focus on the human element of it. The spectacle helps, certainly, but deep down, we look for a hero we can relate to, and their issues have to resonate with our own.

Interestingly, Disney+’s latest series, VisionQuest, finds an alternate route to connecting with its audience. Following the events of WandaVision, we find Vision (Paul Bettany) living disguised as a human, struggling to discover who he is. When we last saw White Vision, SWORD had rebuilt him as a weapon to kill Wanda Maximoff, until her version of Vision imbued him with the same persona. He has all of Vision’s memories but none of his emotions or actual experience. He’s a machine trying to understand his purpose. What is he to do with all these memories, and how does he rationalize his existence?

But things go sideways when an unknown client hired The Paladin (Todd Stashwick) to capture Vision. To gain the upper hand, The Paladin makes a god for Thomas Shepherd (Ruaridh Mollica), carrying all of Tommy Maximoff’s memories and persona inside of him. Forced out of hiding, Vision feels compelled to rescue Thomas, a choice that ultimately forces Vision toward an identity forged through action rather than mere observation.

The show presents a fascinating dilemma as it explores what defines humanity. Having formed a bond with the original Vision, the audience instinctively has a connection with the original Vision, and we are immediately hoping that this new iteration of him will find his own identity soon. Watching a “person” piece himself together makes for compelling viewing and it’s quite an enjoyable ride. Do our emotions define us? Our experiences? Our memories? These are asked and are somehow argued throughout the first four episodes of the show and it’s quite enjoyable.

Parallel to Vision’s journey is Thomas’s own crisis of identity as he carries the memories of both Thomas Shepherd and Tommy Maximoff, he is riddled with the need to be anybody else because he isn’t sure who he is. As an orphan turned a con man, with his pickpocket friend Lisa (Lauren Morais), preferring to be anybody else rather than try to figure out if he is crazy or not.

The collision of these two characters surprisingly forms the emotional strength of the series, and the story truly takes off the moment they finally meet.

Rounding out the cast are the AIs Vision has created within his mindscape: copies of code from various AIs used in the MCU mainstays including Jarvis (James D’Arcy), Friday (Orla Brady), Edith (Emily Hampshire), Dum-e and U (Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer), and Ultron (James Spader). Each with their own unique personalities, helping Vision along to finding what it means to be human and to reconcile his existence with Wanda’s version of his memories and his own rebuilt body as a weapon. There’s also a lovely supporting turn by Diane Morgan as The Paladin’s tech-genius assistant.

By the third episode, another antagonist emerges: Butcherbird, a mercenary whose own goals run separate from that of Vision’s, but their paths will cross and it expands the questions about technology’s own relationship with humans.

There are just enough superheroics to keep this rooted in the comic book genre with funny quips and puns and enough light-hearted moments to keep it friendly. Yet the story remains firmly centered in the existential, grounded by the relationship between Vision and Thomas, as well as Vision and Ultron. One brings him closer to humanity through the possibility of affection, while the other brings him closer to humanity by embracing chaos. Interestingly enough, it’s these two aspects Vision needs to embrace if he wants to fully understand humanity and it’s fascinating to watch as it unfolds.

These first four episodes deliver a strong start, promising a lot of good storytelling threads that keep the show emotionally strong and intellectually ambitious without becoming overly lofty. Above all, the series retains enough charm and humor to keep it from spiraling out of mainstream appeal.

It is a promising start to a show I’m interested to finish and catch more of it as as the rest of the season unfolds.

    My Rating: 4.5 Stars

Disney+ Is Now the Official Home of UFC in the Philippines

Filipino fight fans now have a new destination for UFC action.

Disney+ is officially the home of UFC in the Philippines, giving local viewers access to live events from one of the biggest mixed martial arts organizations in the world.

Kicking things off is UFC FIGHT NIGHT®: ALLEN vs. DUNCAN, streaming live from the Meta APEX in Las Vegas. The prelims begin at 5:00 AM PHT, followed by the main card at 8:00 AM PHT.

At the center of the event is a high-stakes middleweight clash between Brendan Allen and Christian Leroy Duncan, two fighters entering the Octagon with plenty to prove.

Brendan Allen Looks to Move Closer to UFC Gold

For Brendan Allen, the mission is clear.

The seasoned middleweight contender enters another main event with his eyes firmly fixed on the championship picture. Already battle-tested against some of the division’s toughest competitors, Allen knows that an impressive victory could strengthen his case for a future title opportunity.

    2 1

His experience, submission skills, and ability to stay composed in demanding situations have made him one of the middleweight division’s most dangerous names.

Now, with another spotlight moment ahead of him, Allen has the chance to remind fans why he remains firmly in the conversation among the division’s top contenders.

Christian Leroy Duncan Steps Into His Biggest UFC Opportunity Yet

Standing across from Allen is Christian Leroy Duncan, a dynamic middleweight taking on his first UFC main event assignment.

It is easily one of the biggest opportunities of his career.

Duncan has built a reputation around his athleticism, creativity, and confident striking. Against Allen, however, he faces a proven contender with significantly more experience at the highest level.

That contrast makes the matchup particularly intriguing.

For Duncan, a victory over Allen would represent a major breakthrough and could immediately raise his profile within the division. For Allen, it is an opportunity to stop the momentum of a hungry challenger while continuing his push toward UFC gold.

With both men chasing something significant, the stakes could hardly be higher.

    1 2

Matheus Camilo and Jai Herbert Bring the Heat in the Co-Main Event

The action does not stop with the headliner.

In the co-main event, Matheus Camilo takes on Jai Herbert in a lightweight contest that promises intensity from the opening bell.

Camilo has made his intentions perfectly clear with one memorable statement: “I come for violence.”

That aggressive mindset could make for an explosive matchup against Herbert, who is looking to secure back-to-back UFC victories and continue climbing the lightweight ladder.

Herbert brings length, striking experience, and plenty of motivation into the contest. Another victory would give him valuable momentum in one of the UFC’s deepest and most competitive divisions.

Camilo, meanwhile, will be looking to make an unforgettable statement of his own.

Put them together, and the co-main event has all the ingredients for a crowd-pleasing battle.

UFC Action Has a New Home on Disney+

The arrival of UFC on Disney+ gives Filipino fans another major sports offering to watch on the streaming platform.

With live UFC events now available through Disney+ in the Philippines, subscribers can follow marquee matchups, rising contenders, and some of the sport’s biggest moments from one platform.

For the best viewing experience, fans can download the latest Disney+ app through the App Store or Google Play Store.

Those who need help getting started can also watch the official Disney+ guide video or visit the Disney+ Help Center.
