A Cinematic Tribute to a Global Icon
Lights, music, legacy—Michael is set to deliver a spectacular and emotional portrayal of one of the most influential artists the world has ever known. Arriving in Philippine cinemas on April 22, the film traces the unforgettable journey of Michael Jackson, from his early beginnings to his rise as the King of Pop.
With a story that stretches beyond the stage, Michael presents a captivating and heartfelt look at the man behind the legend—his artistry, ambition, and the moments that shaped his enduring impact on music and culture.

Jaafar Jackson Takes Center Stage
Taking on the monumental role is Jaafar Jackson, the real-life nephew of Michael Jackson, stepping into his first-ever film performance. It’s a bold move—yet one that proves to be powerful and authentic.
Director Antoine Fuqua, known for Training Day, Olympus Has Fallen, and The Equalizer films, recalls his initial hesitation before witnessing Jaafar in action.
“Day one. All I can think of is, ‘can Jaafar really pull this off?’ Man when the music started, and he hit those first few moves, I mean this guy killed it,” Fuqua says.
For Jaafar, the journey into the role was deeply personal and demanding.
“I never dreamed to be an actor or even thought of playing him, but I knew it was a calling,” says Jaafar Jackson. “Embodying Michael, I really had to earn the role and prove to the filmmakers that I was capable of becoming Michael,” he explains.
Producer Graham King was equally impressed, noting Jaafar’s unexpected depth and commitment.
“He took it to a level that none of us saw he could take it to,” says King.

From Humble Beginnings to Iconic Stardom
The film charts Michael Jackson’s evolution—from a gifted young performer leading The Jackson 5 to a solo artist whose performances would redefine global entertainment. Audiences can expect a vivid and inspiring portrayal of key milestones that shaped his legendary career.
“Michael. His life is epic. To become the King of Pop, it’s an amazing journey,” shares director Fuqua.
A Strong Ensemble Cast
Joining Jaafar Jackson is a talented cast including Nia Long, Laura Harrier, Juliano Krue, Miles Teller, and Colman Domingo. Their performances add richness and depth, creating a dynamic and engaging storytelling experience.
