“You Guys Crushed It!” — Tom Cruise’s Seal of Approval: “The Running Man” Hits Theaters November 12

Tom Cruise reunites with Top Gun: Maverick co-star Glen Powell at the London premiere of The Running Man, calling the new Stephen King adaptation a thrilling win. Here's what Cruise said and why fans are excited.

Tom Cruise Cheers on Glen Powell’s Thrilling New Role

Tom Cruise knows a thing or two about action—and he’s giving Glen Powell a thumbs up. The Top Gun: Maverick legend turned up at the star-studded London premiere of The Running Man, Powell’s latest high-octane feature, and he couldn’t stop raving.

In a feel-good moment shared on Instagram, Cruise declared:

“Another great night out with my friends at the movies! You guys crushed it, congratulations! I laughed, was on the edge of my seat, and ate way too much popcorn.”

Their reunion had fans buzzing as the duo posed for photos alongside director Edgar Wright (Baby DriverShaun of the Dead), co-stars Josh Brolin and Colman Domingo, and the rest of the powerhouse cast.

The Plot: Survive the Hunt

Based on Stephen King‘s dystopian novel, The Running Man follows Ben Richards (Powell), a blue-collar father with one mission: save his terminally ill daughter. With nowhere else to turn, he agrees to compete in the nation’s most-watched TV show—also its deadliest.

The premise is terrifying: survive 30 days while professional killers, known as Hunters, try to track you down. Every second is broadcast to a rabid audience, and each day survived earns a bigger cash prize. No contestant has ever lasted a full month… until Ben.

Richards’ gritty resolve and instinctive wit make him a surprise fan-favorite—and a serious threat to the twisted system. But with fame comes danger, and now he must outsmart not just the Hunters, but a nation obsessed with watching him fall.

Wright’s signature style promises a bold, fast-paced experience with social commentary that hits home—delivered with the flash and fire fans have come to expect.

Behind the Scenes: A Moment of Humor

During a red carpet exchange at CinemaCon earlier this year, Cruise jokingly slipped into character, saying, “See, I’m in The Running Man, too.”

Powell shot back with a grin:

“I will say that all of my running technique did come straight from Tom.”

Call it full-circle mentorship—with a bit of movie magic thrown in.
