Prepare yourself for terror.
Taiwan’s No. 1 supernatural horror film, “Mudborn,” is arriving in Philippine cinemas on March 18, bringing audiences a chilling tale rooted in folklore, fear, and a seemingly harmless clay doll. What begins as a strange discovery quickly transforms into a nightmare that refuses to let go.

At the center of the story is a broken clay baby doll discovered inside a haunted house. It looks fragile, forgotten—almost pitiful. Yet the moment it is taken home, an eerie chain of events begins to unfold, turning a peaceful household into the center of a terrifying supernatural mystery.
And just like that, a familiar nursery rhyme becomes something far more sinister.
Before watching the horror unravel on the big screen, here are a few rules you should never break if you ever encounter a mysterious clay doll from a haunted place. (Although, honestly, entering a haunted house in the first place already sounds like a bad idea.)
Rule #1: Don’t Pick Up a Random Doll
It might look harmless sitting there, abandoned and broken. But in horror stories—and especially in “Mudborn”—that’s usually where the trouble begins.
When the strange clay doll is brought into a family home, curiosity soon gives way to fear. What seemed like an innocent object slowly reveals a disturbing presence attached to it.

Once the doll crosses the threshold of the house, the supernatural force tied to it begins to awaken—and escaping its grip becomes nearly impossible.
Rule #2: Don’t Try to Fix It
Some things are broken for a reason.
In the film, the couple Muhua (Cecilia Choi) and Hsu-Chuan (Yo Yang) attempt to repair the damaged clay doll after bringing it home. Piece by piece, they restore its cracked form, believing they are simply fixing an object.

But every repaired fragment strengthens the unsettling presence surrounding the doll.
Instead of restoring peace, the act of fixing it unleashes a growing terror that spreads throughout their home, disrupting their lives and drawing them deeper into a nightmare they never expected.
Rule #3: Don’t Treat It Like a Child
The clay doll may resemble a baby, but appearances can be dangerously deceptive.
Treating the doll with affection and care only strengthens the mysterious bond forming around it. As the supernatural force becomes more powerful, the boundary between lifeless object and living entity begins to blur in unsettling ways.

What once looked like a harmless figure soon carries an eerie sense of awareness—one that makes every moment inside the house feel increasingly threatening.
Rule #4: Don’t Ignore the Warnings
Strange sounds. Unexplained happenings. A haunting nursery rhyme echoing in the background.
The signs are there—but ignoring them can lead to something far worse.
Desperate for answers, the family eventually seeks help from a psychic exorcist, hoping to uncover the truth behind the clay doll. What they discover reveals a terrifying curse connected to ancient folklore and a dark history that refuses to remain buried.
By then, however, the danger has already taken root.

When the Nursery Rhyme Begins
With its unsettling atmosphere and folklore-inspired horror, “Mudborn” turns something familiar into something deeply disturbing. The film blends psychological tension with supernatural dread, creating a haunting story that lingers long after the lights come back on.
One small object. One curious decision. One nightmare that refuses to end.
Step too close—and it might follow you home.
Witness the chilling mystery unfold when “Mudborn” opens in Philippine cinemas on March 18.
