A new year has officially begun, and while we plan for a change of pace this 2023, one must remain constant: that we occasionally take a break and enjoy our free time. Of course, one way for us to relax is to sit back and watch a good film or show on TV, and thanks to streaming platforms like Netflix, we don’t have to worry about that in 2023!

After looking back on our favorite titles from 2022, we will now look forward to the shows and films that are expected to arrive on Netflix this 2023 and beyond. Here’s a list of the exciting titles that we’re pumped up to stream soon!

The Pale Blue Eye (Film)

To be released this January 6, The Pale Blue Eye starring Christian Bale, follows a detective who hires Edgar Allan Poe to help solve a gruesome murder.

Avatar: The Last Airbender (Series)

A live-action adaptation of the hit animated series is coming to Netflix. Set in a world where people can control one of the four elements: fire, earth, water, and air, a young boy is tasked to bring balance to the world by learning to use all four elements and taking down the tyrannical Fire Lord.

One Piece (Series)

The popular manga and anime series is also being adapted into a live-action Netflix show. It follows Monkey D. Luffy and his crew of pirates as they travel across the world in search of the fabled One Piece treasure.

Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre (Series)

Set to be released this January 19, this animated horror series tells some of the most disturbing and bizarre tales from the horror manga master Junji Ito.

Kaos (Series)

Starring Jeff Goldblum as Zeus, Kaos puts a modern twist on Greek and Roman mythology through the story of six humans who must deal with corrupt and arrogant gods.

Millarworld Titles

Netflix is set to adapt more titles from the works of Mark Millar, including TV shows of American Jesus, The Magic Order, Huck, and the live-action Supercrooks, as well as movies for Prodigy, Reborn, and Sharkey the Bounty Hunter.

My Life with the Walter Boys (Series)

Based on the book by Ali Novak, this series follows the teenager Jackie Howard who has everything planned, but when a tragedy strikes, she is forced to start a new life as part of a family with ten sons.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (Series)

A spin-off to the Bridgerton franchise, this prequel story reveals how the young Charlotte met Prince George, and how the couple rose to power as the King and Queen. On top of this, Bridgerton season 3 is also expected for release this year.

Something is Killing The Children (Series)

Another adaptation, this series is based on the comic book series by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera. It follows a mysterious woman who hunts down the terrifying monsters responsible for the disappearance of the children of Archer’s Peak.

The Fall of the House of Usher (Series)

Mike Flanagan’s upcoming miniseries is based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe. It tells the story of a man who is invited to his childhood friend’s house, only to discover the dark secrets that the home hides.

The Gentlemen (Series)

Guy Ritchie adapts his 2019 film into a new series. The original film tells the story of the American ex-pat Mickey Pearson who plans to cash out of his marijuana empire, triggering a series of blackmails, bribery, and schemes from people who want to take his place.

The Game of Thrones showrunners are back with a TV show adaptation of this sci-fi book series from China. It tells of the conflicts following the humans’ first contact with aliens.

Heart of Stone (Film)

Gal Gadot stars as the CIA agent Rachel Stone in this international spy action thriller.

XO, Kitty (Series)

A spinoff of the YA romance movie trilogy To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, this series follows Lara Jean’s younger sister Kitty, who travels halfway across the world to reconnect with her boyfriend Dae.
