Korean Indie Rock Band The Rose Announces 2024 Asian Tour Dates

The Rose is having their biggest year yet. After playing previously announced 2023 dates on their US DAWN TO DUSK headline tour, Korean Alt Pop band The Rose is kicking off 2024 with a multi-city world tour. The Asia leg of the tour will feature shows in Jakarta, Manila, Mumbai, and Seoul before the band heads to Europe for dates in Berlin, Oslo, Stockholm, Amsterdam, London, Paris and more.

The announcement comes after a successful year of their US Headline tour and festival concerts such as Lollapalooza in Chicago, Brazil, Stockholm, Argentina and Chile, British Summer Time in the UK, Mad Cool Festival in Madrid among other cities. Kirby Lee, Co-CEO of Transparent Arts says, “We’ve gotten great feedback from everyone about the new production for the Dawn to Dusk Tour. We are happy that we finallyhave a stage set up that matches the awesome performance energy from The Rose. We can’t wait for the rest of the world to see it.”

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Live in Concert

For the first time ever, the Academy Award® winning film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, is set to come to Manila LIVE in Concert for a limited run this holiday season. Catch the shows on December 30 Saturday at 3PM and 7PM at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premier. Presented by Wilbros Live.

This masterpiece of film animation will be shown on a huge HD screen and will be accompanied by a unique fusion of live orchestra, turntables and percussion playing the music from the score and soundtrack.

After an eagerly anticipated and glowing sold-out world premiere at the historic Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York last March, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Live in Concert will be touring more cities around the world.

Reaction to the world premiere was overwhelming, with audience members saying ‘I loved it even more watching it with an incredible live orchestra.’ and ‘One of the most incredible experiences I’ve had.’

The one-of-a-kind show is ground-breaking in replication of the film’s score and soundtrack, fusing elements of orchestral with turntables and live DJ, and electronics for a rare and bold live experience.

A Sony Pictures Animation film, directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman and written by Phil Lord and Rothman, the movie introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask.

The music score for the box office hit was composed by Academy Award® nominee, multiple Golden Globe®-nominee and Emmy-winning composer Daniel Pemberton, known for his work on movies such as The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Oceans 8, Enola Holmes, The Bad Guys and Steve Jobs.

The hip-hop based film score contains original music, showcasing elements of heroism and resilience, all complemented by song contributions from industry greats Post Malone, Lil Wayne, Jaden Smith and Nicki Minaj.

“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is one of my favourite scores I’ve ever written. Utilising a full orchestra, crazy electronics and unbelievable turntable scratching techniques amongst a million other things, it is so technically complex I never thought we’d ever be able to actually reproduce it in a live concert, but somehow, we have”, said Pemberton on the project.

Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse received great praise from critics and audiences for its ground-breaking visual style, characters, story, voice acting, and soundtrack. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the highly anticipated sequel, was released in theatres in June 2023.

Last year’s giant parols were given new life and carefully refurbished. An exciting new element was added – the illuminated wreath. Symbolizing unity and growth, these wreaths will add an extra layer of sparkle to the avenue and create an even more festive atmosphere. The decorations will be lit up on November 7, 2023 and will be on display until January 14, 2024.
- The “Festival of Lights at Ayala Triangle Gardens” promises a mesmerizing spectacle unlike any other. Evolving from its beginnings as a simple light show, this well-loved Filipino Christmas tradition now offers an immersive experience that displays never-ending lights that span more areas of the gardens than ever before. From November 14 to January 14, witness how countless twinkling lights illuminate the night, transforming the gardens into a happy and colorful wonderland.
Embark on an enchanting journey of illumination where you can experience a trio of breathtaking light installations, each one a shimmering spectacle of color and brilliance, just waiting to be discovered, start your journey with the Christmas lights and sound show at the courtyard entitled “The Kaleidoscope of Lights”- a show composed of three Christmas medleys. The first musical medley features festive Filipino Christmas tunes, the second medley is an original K-Pop inspired composition, and the last medley uses big band instrumentation inspired by music of Frank Sinatra and Andy Williams. A new addition to the Christmas light show is a series of larger than life projections that transform the floor into an illusion of lights enhanced with a smoke machine that will transport the crowd into a world of vivid colorful images. There will also be an interactive play on moving lights and images that kids and adults alike can chase after (e.g. a butterfly that moves from one end of the courtyard that kids can chase after)

The next feature situated at the northern side of Ayala Triangle is “Wish Upon a Light” – a magical wishing pond. Inspired by the wishing stone, the visitors can write their own wishes or dreams onto the magical pond. The pond is made from an interactive LED screen that magically lights up when one writes wishes or dreams which can be shared with everyone as these are simultaneously flashed on a wall.

The final part of the journey is “Liter of Light” – a beautiful display of liters turned into lights to power up a Christmas art installation by Leeroy New, in collaboration with Arte House and Illac Diaz. An inspiring story that began from a plastic bottle (which they filled with water and bleach to let light through).
- Marche de Noel, a Christmas bazaar in collaboration with the Embassy of France, will be back this year. This time, it will be located at the Makati Street Meet at Paseo de Roxas. Enjoy a unique shopping experience featuring a variety of international and local artisanal products. Merchants include Paris Delice, Truffle Ph, Araro Gelato and many more.
- Experience the harmonious sounds of the season as we bring back the annual Choral Competition at Circuit Makati on December 9. This tradition fills Circuit Makati with festive carols. This is done in collaboration with the local government and will showcase the incredible talent of students from various schools in Makati. These young voices will come together to create a captivating musical performance.
- “Come Home to Christmas: A Holiday Concert” will run on its second year. Join us at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater on December 16 as we bring together renowned artists for a night of music, celebration, and togetherness. 900 tickets will be given for free for those who purchase from establishments at Ayala Malls Circuit. BGC celebrates community’s rich glocal culture with Passionfest 2023
No matter what we do or where we are from, passion is both a feeling and concept that keeps everyone thriving. It’s a strong sensation, something that brings us closer to our goals and what makes our daily journeys worth exploring.

It is also what Bonifacio Global City has delivered with Passionfest – which is making its way back after four years! Under the direction of Floy Quintos and musical director and conductor National Artist for Music Maestro Ryan Cayabyab, this year’s annual festive season concert promises to ring in the Christmas spirit with favorite carols and orchestral pieces from musical theater and the classics.

Joining Maigue, Ferrer, the MSO, and Maestro Cayabyab are the Ateneo de Manila University’s Ateneo Chamber Singers and the Kalilayan Folk Dance Group.

International Hit Show ‘The Simon and Garfunkel Story’ Heading to Manila, March 2nd, 2024

Pinoy Big Band Brass Pas Pas Pas Pas Marks 11.11th Anniversary

In this thankfully post-pandemic year, the groovy chaps in the Filipino group Brass Pas Pas Pas Pas are about to celebrate the big, brassy band’s 11th anniversary in a fun funk fashion.

Unfolding on November 11 at 123 Block, Mandala Park in Mandaluyong City, BPPPP’s 11.11 anniversary gig will be a full-on, full-length shindig featuring the band’s extensive repertoire of originals—tunes that are a delightful amalgamation of jazz, swing, blues, soul disco-funk and contemporary grooving. In other words, mirrorball music for the soul!

And as icing on Brass Pas Pas Pas Pas’s 11th anniversary cake, the band will form a 20-piece ensemble big band, and joining in on the funky frolic will be guest singers Unique Salonga, Leanne & Naara, Kat Agarrado, and Ebe Dancel, Jensen Gomez, and Sammy Valenia! Opening the show is Zsaris with her live looper. Only PhP500 to get in on this rare experience.

Formed in 2012 by young and younger playas with shared interests in hip-shaking, head-swaying, booty-bumping music of old and of late, and named after a sound that emanated from Pinoy reggae band Junior Kilat, the members of Brass Pas Pas Pas Pas include drummer Wendell Garcia, guitarist Kakoy Legaspi, bass ace Francis De Veyra, keyboardist Juni Sitaca, vocalist Mike Luis, and the brass squad of baritone saxophonist Ganza Panganiban, alto sax man Joseph Cabanero, tenor sax dude Kaynne Castillo, trumpeters EJ Celestial, Marc Nicolas and David Jorvina, and trombonist Isla Antinero.

Of the band’s decade-plus journey, singer Mike Luis muses that it feels like “we began not that long ago. It takes actual reminiscing of individual anecdotes and experiences when it hits us that, whoa, we have been together this long.” He adds, “We feel like we would keep on being together for more years to come—and we’re very excited for what lies ahead for us, musically and as bandmates!”
