Jodi Sta. Maria and Agot Isidro Face a Bittersweet Family Reunion in Netflix’s ‘Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon’ Official Trailer

Jodi Sta. Maria and Agot Isidro star in Netflix’s Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon, a heartfelt Filipino family drama premiering globally on August 13, 2026.

Netflix has released the official trailer for Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon, an upcoming Filipino comedy-drama starring Jodi Sta. Maria and Agot Isidro.

Set to premiere globally on August 13, 2026, the film follows a fractured mother-daughter relationship shaped by years of distance, unresolved pain, and a life-changing secret.

At the center of the story is Joanne, played by Sta. Maria, a TV writer who has spent years rebuilding her life. Just when everything seems to be falling into place, her estranged mother, Paz, played by Isidro, suddenly returns after 27 years.

Her return, however, brings more than old memories.

A Mother-Daughter Story Rooted in Filipino Family Life

For Agot Isidro, the film’s emotional core is something many Filipino viewers may immediately recognize.

Speaking at the Next on Netflix Philippines event in February, Isidro highlighted how deeply family remains woven into Filipino culture.

[We] Filipinos are very family-centric, so I really think we’re reaching out to our audience, she shared.

That sense of familiarity runs through Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon. The film explores what happens when love, resentment, obligation, and forgiveness exist all at once within a family.

Rather than presenting relationships as simple or sentimental, the story looks at how family can influence dreams, choices, and even the way people see themselves.

Finding Laughter in Heavy Family Drama

While the film tackles emotionally difficult themes, director Cholo H. Laurel wanted the story to feel true to how real families often deal with conflict.

If you look closely, drama is actually hilarious—especially family drama. The topics that we’re discussing here are already inherently heavy, so we wanted to lighten it up a little bit.

That balance between humor and heartbreak gives the film its distinct tone.

One moment may be uncomfortable, the next unexpectedly funny. And just when things begin to feel light, an old wound or difficult truth can quickly change the mood.

It is a familiar rhythm for anyone who has experienced complicated family gatherings, awkward conversations, or years of feelings left unsaid.

Twenty-Seven Years of Unfinished Business

The newly released trailer offers a glimpse of Joanne and Paz attempting to reconnect after nearly three decades apart.

But rebuilding a relationship after 27 years is hardly simple.

Joanne has created a life without her mother, while Paz returns carrying a secret that could change everything. As the two are forced back into each other’s lives, they must confront the reasons behind their estrangement and decide whether there is still room for forgiveness.

Along the way, the film asks difficult questions about filial love, sacrifice, regret, and the choices people make for family.

More importantly, it examines whether time can truly heal old wounds, or whether healing only begins once people finally face them.

A Bittersweet Look at Love, Loss, and Second Chances

With Sta. Maria and Isidro leading the cast, Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon promises a heartfelt story that mixes sharp humor with emotional honesty.

The film explores how family can build a person up, break them down, and shape the decisions they carry throughout life.

It may be messy. It may hurt. It may even be funny when it probably should not be.

And that is exactly what makes the story feel so familiar.

Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon premieres globally on August 13, 2026, only on Netflix.
