DreamWorks’ legendary panda is set to return in a new animated series from Netflix titled Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight, Variety reports. Also returning to give life to its main protagonist Po is Jack Black, who voiced the character in the films.
The plot follows Po in his globe-trotting quest alongside an English knight named Wandering Blade, as they try to collect four powerful weapons before a mysterious pair of weasels could use them for evil.
The Kung Fu Panda film from 2008 has spawned two sequels and two TV series prior to Netflix’s new title. Nickelodeon’s Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness ran for three seasons while Amazon’s Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny ran for one season. Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight is slated for release in July this year.
