The story behind one of the biggest social media controversies of the modern era is heading to the big screen.
Sony Pictures has released the new trailer for “The Social Reckoning,” a gripping drama written and directed by Aaron Sorkin. Positioned as a companion piece to the acclaimed 2010 film “The Social Network,” the movie explores the events surrounding “The Facebook Files” and the whistleblower who helped expose some of the company’s most closely guarded secrets.
At the center of the film is Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg, with an ensemble cast that includes Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White, Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen, and Bill Burr.

From “The Social Network” to a New Reckoning
More than a decade after “The Social Network” dramatized the rise of Facebook, Aaron Sorkin returns to the world of the tech giant with a story focused on accountability, influence, and the consequences of immense digital power.
Rather than revisiting Facebook’s origins, “The Social Reckoning” looks at a much later chapter in the company’s history.
Inspired by true events, the film follows Frances Haugen, played by Mikey Madison, a young Facebook engineer who comes across information that could have far-reaching consequences.
What begins inside the company soon grows into something much bigger.
Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White Take on a High-Stakes Story
As Frances Haugen, Madison portrays the whistleblower whose actions helped ignite a global conversation about social media, transparency, and corporate responsibility.
She eventually turns to Jeff Horwitz, a Wall Street Journal reporter played by Jeremy Allen White. Together, the two set off on a dangerous path that could expose information Facebook had worked hard to keep private.
Their journey becomes the film’s central David and Goliath battle, pitting individuals searching for the truth against one of the world’s most powerful technology companies.
With Sorkin behind both the screenplay and the camera, the film is expected to bring his signature sharp dialogue and fast-paced storytelling to another headline-making chapter in Facebook’s history.
Jeremy Strong Steps Into the Role of Mark Zuckerberg
Adding even more intrigue to the project is Jeremy Strong, who takes on the role of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
Strong joins a stacked cast that also features Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen, and Bill Burr, bringing together an impressive lineup for Sorkin’s latest drama.
The new trailer offers a first glimpse at the mounting tension surrounding the whistleblower investigation, as questions of power, secrecy, and responsibility begin to collide.

Some adventures become even more memorable when they are shared with friends.
That spirit of friendship and imagination came alive on August 25 as Save the Children beneficiaries became among the first audiences to watch DreamWorks Animation’s new feature film, “Forgotten Island,” during a special screening at SM Aura in Taguig.
Presented courtesy of DreamWorks Animation and Universal Pictures, the event welcomed children supported by Save the Children, an organization that has spent more than four decades helping Filipino children learn, thrive, and work toward brighter futures.
Liza Soberano and H.E.R. Make a Surprise Appearance
The screening became even more special when Liza Soberano and Grammy and Academy Award winner H.E.R.surprised the young moviegoers with an unexpected appearance.
Soberano and H.E.R., who lend their voices to best friends Raissa and Jo in the film, spent time with the children and shared in the excitement surrounding the movie.
Their visit transformed the screening into a memorable celebration of friendship, imagination, and the meaningful connections that stay with us as we grow.
Joining them were “Forgotten Island” directors Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, whose creative vision helped shape the film’s colorful world inspired by Filipino mythology, culture, and storytelling.
A Meaningful Moment for Liza Soberano
The occasion carried added significance for Soberano, who has long supported the work of Save the Children as an ambassador and advocate for children.
H.E.R. has also supported initiatives aimed at empowering and uplifting marginalized communities.
Soberano, H.E.R., Crawford, and Mercado are in Manila as part of the “Tayo Na, Philippines!” “Forgotten Island” Tour, a celebration of the Filipino culture, stories, and spirit at the heart of the animated film.
“Forgotten Island” Takes Audiences to the Magical World of Nakali
Arriving in Philippine cinemas on September 23, “Forgotten Island” follows longtime best friends Jo, voiced by H.E.R., and Raissa, voiced by Soberano.
The two have been inseparable since grade school, but after graduating from high school, they are preparing to take different paths in life.
On what is supposed to be one last night together before their lives begin to change, Jo and Raissa discover a mysterious portal that transports them to Nakali, a fantastical island filled with magical beings and mythological creatures inspired by stories they heard growing up in their Filipino families.
Suddenly, childhood legends are no longer just stories.
Some of the creatures they encounter become unlikely allies, while others pose dangerous challenges.
Helping the best friends on their journey is Raww, a lovable but hapless weredog voiced by Dave Franco, along with a small but determined group of companions.
Waiting for them, however, is their biggest threat yet: The Dreaded Manananggal, voiced by Tony Award-winning Filipino icon Lea Salonga.
Friendship Comes With an Unexpected Price
Jo and Raissa soon discover that escaping Nakali will not be easy.
Their journey home comes with a devastating condition. To leave the island, they may have to sacrifice every memory of the friendship they have shared through the years.
With time running out, the pair must find another way home before the memories that connect them begin to disappear forever.
The emotional adventure puts friendship at the center of a story filled with humor, fantasy, danger, and Filipino cultural influences.

An Unforgettable Adventure for Save the Children Beneficiaries
For the Save the Children beneficiaries who attended the special screening, the journey to Nakali became more than an early look at an animated movie.
It became a chance to imagine, discover, laugh, and experience an adventure together.
With Soberano, H.E.R., Crawford, and Mercado joining the celebration, the young guests also had the rare opportunity to meet some of the stars and filmmakers responsible for bringing the magical world of “Forgotten Island” to the screen.
Making the occasion even more special, the Philippines will be the first international destination to welcome the cast and filmmakers as they begin their global journey for the film.
Forgotten Island Comes Home to the Philippines
During their visit, the stars and creative team will take part in special events and screenings, giving local audiences a rare opportunity to experience Forgotten Island alongside the people who helped bring it to life.
More than a promotional stop, however, “Tayo Na, Philippines!” carries a personal meaning for several members of the cast and filmmaking team.
Liza Soberano and H.E.R. return to celebrate the movie with Filipino fans, while Filipino American director Januel Mercado joins director Joel Crawford, whose wife and family are Filipino.
Producer Mark Swift also developed a close connection to the country while working on the film. During production, Swift made several trips to the Philippines, immersing himself in its culture as the filmmakers shaped the movie’s Filipino-inspired setting and story.
With those personal ties at its heart, the Manila celebration promises to be a memorable homecoming.

Survival gets personal in the newly released international trailer for Heart of the Beast, starring Brad Pitt and directed by acclaimed filmmaker David Ayer.
Pitt plays Special Forces officer James Belmont, who finds himself stranded in the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness following a terrifying plane crash. By his side is Odin, his loyal combat dog and, under impossible circumstances, his most important ally.
A routine journey turns into a fight for survival when James Belmont and Odin are left isolated deep in Alaska after their plane goes down.
With harsh weather, dangerous terrain, and few signs of rescue, the pair must depend on their training and, more importantly, on each other.
The latest trailer puts their relationship front and center. Rather than simply facing the wilderness alone, James has Odin beside him every step of the way, creating an emotional partnership at the heart of the film’s intense survival story.
Trust becomes essential. Loyalty becomes their strength. And with danger closing in, their bond may be what ultimately keeps them alive.
An Intense Story of Loyalty and Survival
Known for gritty, high-stakes films, director David Ayer brings that same intensity to Heart of the Beast.
Written by Cameron Alexander, the adventure thriller explores more than the physical struggle to survive. Beneath the action is a story about companionship, courage, and the powerful connection between a soldier and his dog.
As James and Odin confront the brutal elements, the film asks how far determination and loyalty can carry them when the odds are stacked against them.
Behind ‘Heart of the Beast’
Paramount Pictures presents Heart of the Beast in association with Domain Entertainment and Gulfstream Pictures. The film is a Wild Chickens, Temple Hill, and Kino World production.
Executive producers are Damien Chazelle, Scott Lumpkin, Cameron Alexander, Chris Long, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, Andrew Lary, Sophie Cassidy, and Zack Conroy.
Cameron Alexander wrote the screenplay, with David Ayer directing.
When Does ‘Heart of the Beast’ Open in the Philippines?
Heart of the Beast arrives exclusively in Philippine cinemas on September 23.
With Brad Pitt leading the story alongside Odin, audiences can expect a gripping survival adventure built around danger, resilience, and one remarkably strong bond.
What happens when two strangers looking for something real meet on the one night when romance is supposedly off the table?
That is the playful premise behind “One Night Only,” the new romantic comedy from director Will Gluck, best known for Easy A and Anyone but You. Starring Academy Award nominee Monica Barbaro and BAFTA nominee Callum Turner, the film brings together chemistry, chaos, and a citywide string of mishaps in a story about finding love when you least expect it.
“One Night Only” opens in Philippine cinemas on August 26.
A Very Complicated Night for Two Hopeful Singles
Set in an ever-so-slightly fictionalized New York City, the film introduces audiences to Allie and Owen, two strangers who happen to cross paths on one particularly unusual evening.
On this night, single people are allowed to have sex without expectations or complications. At least, that is the idea.
Owen, recently dumped and still figuring out what comes next, meets Allie, a hopeful romantic who wants something deeper than a fleeting encounter. Against the odds, the two feel an immediate connection.
Then everything gets complicated.
A series of bad decisions, missed opportunities, unexpected detours, and bizarre side quests keeps pulling them apart. As they make their way across the city, each encounter brings them closer to realizing what they actually want.
And perhaps, who they want it with.
Watch the first trailer here:
Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner Bring the Sparks
Barbaro stars as Allie following acclaimed performances in A Complete Unknown and Top Gun: Maverick. Turner, known for Masters of the Air and the Fantastic Beasts films, takes on the role of Owen.
Together, the pair anchors a romantic comedy built around sharp banter, genuine vulnerability, and the wonderfully awkward uncertainty of making a connection with someone new.
Their story asks a simple but compelling question: If everyone around you is searching for something casual, what happens when you suddenly find something meaningful?
A Standout Ensemble Joins the Fun
Beyond its central pairing, “One Night Only” features an impressive cast packed with familiar names.
Joining Barbaro and Turner are Maya Hawke of Stranger Things, Julia Fox of Uncut Gems, musician and actor King Princess, Ziwe, and Saturday Night Live performer Ben Marshall.
The film also features beloved screen icons Molly Ringwald and Levar Burton, adding even more personality to an already colorful lineup.
With such an eclectic ensemble, the night is bound to become even more unpredictable.
Will Gluck Brings His Rom-Com Touch Back to the Big Screen
Known for mixing humor, romance, and larger-than-life personalities, Will Gluck returns to familiar territory with a new take on the modern romantic comedy.
Gluck co-wrote, directed, and produced “One Night Only,” based on a script by Travis Braun. He produces the film through Olive Bridge Entertainment alongside Jacqueline Monetta, vice president of Olive Bridge and an executive producer on Anyone but You.
This time around, Gluck puts the spotlight on two people trying to make sense of attraction, timing, and expectations during one anything-but-normal night.
The result is a witty and swoony story where romance refuses to follow the rules.
Could the Worst Night Become the Best One?
For Allie and Owen, the night begins with no promises.
But between the missed connections, emotional detours, and mounting chaos, something unexpected starts to take shape.
Maybe finding love is not about having the perfect plan. Maybe it is about meeting the right person at exactly the wrong time.
See how their unforgettable night unfolds when “One Night Only” arrives in Philippine cinemas on August 26.
For years, PAW Patrol has won over young audiences with stories about courage, teamwork, and helping others. Now, the beloved pups are heading into their biggest adventure yet, complete with dinosaurs, an erupting volcano, and an inspiring new friend named Rex.
Voiced by newcomer Heyden Chemberlen, Rex is an exceptional rescue pup who uses a dog wheelchair and knows just about everything there is to know about dinosaurs.
Kids all over the world love PAW Patrol because it inspires them to never give up, says Chemberlen, who makes his movie debut in PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie.
Chemberlen also shares something special with the character he voices.
We’re both in a wheelchair,” he shares. “We’re also both athletic, funny, smart, and creative.
Rex Joins the PAW Patrol for a Dino-Sized Mission
In PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie, the pups find themselves far from home after their ship is caught in a mysterious storm. They eventually crash-land on an uncharted tropical island, only to discover that the place is filled with dinosaurs.
There, they meet Rex, a pup who has been stranded on the island for years. During his time there, Rex has become an expert on its prehistoric residents, making him the perfect ally when trouble starts brewing.
And, as usual, Mayor Humdinger is not far behind.
The PAW Patrol’s longtime rival begins recklessly mining the island in hopes of exploiting its natural resources. His actions soon cause a massive dormant volcano to erupt, placing the island and everything living on it in danger.
With time running out, the pups are pushed into a series of huge, high-stakes rescues unlike anything they have faced before. Together with Rex, they must stop Humdinger and protect the island before it is too late.
Mckenna Grace Thinks Rex Is “Super Cool”
Mckenna Grace returns as Skye, and her character is once again part of the action.
We crash-land on this super mysterious island and discover that there’s dinosaurs,” she shares. “Rex is this super cool character that we meet, and he’s, like, friends with T-Rexes.
That connection to the island’s dinosaurs instantly makes Rex one of the most fascinating additions to the PAW Patrolcrew.
Terry Crews, who joins the voice cast as mining and explosives expert Alistair Stonewall, is just as enthusiastic about the new pup.
He’s amazing and absolutely fun! says Crews.
A Meaningful Big-Screen Debut
For Chemberlen, becoming part of the PAW Patrol world is especially meaningful because he grew up watching the series himself.
It’s fun to see him on the screen as I grew up watching PAW Patrol,” says Chemberlen about Rex. “It’s an amazing show that inspires a lot of kids, and it makes me happy to now be in it.
His casting also gives young audiences a new character who reflects determination, confidence, and capability while bringing plenty of personality to the adventure.
Rex may be new to the big screen, but his courage, humor, and love of dinosaurs make him feel right at home alongside the rest of the pups.
A Star-Studded Voice Cast Joins the Adventure

The thrilling first trailer for “Verity” has arrived, offering a chilling glimpse into a story where attraction, obsession, and deception become dangerously difficult to tell apart.
In “Verity,” promising writer Lowen Ashleigh, played by Dakota Johnson, accepts an opportunity to ghostwrite for famed author Verity Crawford, played by Anne Hathaway.
To immerse herself in Verity’s world and complete the unfinished work, Lowen relocates to the remote Crawford estate. What begins as a professional assignment soon takes a disturbing turn when she discovers what appear to be Verity’s deeply personal autobiographical notes.
And what she reads is anything but ordinary.
The pages contain chilling confessions involving Verity’s husband, Jeremy Crawford, played by Josh Hartnett, pulling Lowen deeper into a web of secrets, temptation, and uncertainty.
Watch the trailer:
Fiction, Reality, or Something More Sinister?
As Lowen spends more time inside the Crawford home, the boundaries begin to blur. Is Verity telling the truth? Are the confessions real? Or is someone carefully manipulating the story?
Caught between opportunity and obsession, Lowen must determine what she can believe while confronting her growing attraction to Jeremy.
With every revelation, “Verity” raises another unsettling question about truth, desire, and how easily a story can be shaped by the person telling it.
The truth will be revealed when “Verity” opens in Philippine cinemas on September 30.
About “Verity”
Adapted from Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel, “Verity” follows renowned author Verity Crawford and Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who relocates to the remote Crawford estate to ghostwrite for Verity.
After Lowen uncovers what appears to be Verity’s chilling autobiographical manuscript, she is confronted with disturbing and twisted confessions involving Verity’s husband, Jeremy. Soon, Lowen finds herself struggling to separate fiction from reality, manipulation from attraction, and opportunity from obsession.
Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella, and Christian Convery star as a 1980s suburban family whose ordinary life takes a terrifying turn after their neighborhood is transported to a mysterious world filled with prehistoric dangers.
“The cast is phenomenal,” says Abrams.
“I’ve known Anne a little bit for a long time and have wanted to work with her forever. Ewan as well. So, this was a bit of a dream to get a chance to work with them both. The kids are wonderful as is the supporting cast.”
Abrams knows a thing or two about memorable ensembles. The filmmaker previously directed entries in the Star Warsand Star Trek franchises and created the hit television series Lost.
Watch the trailer here:
Anne Hathaway Takes Suspense to Another Level
Mitchell was equally thrilled when Hathaway and McGregor signed on to play the parents at the center of the story.
“I was so happy when I realized that both Anne and Ewan would be the husband and wife and the parents in this family,” shares Mitchell. “And the dynamic that they have, the chemistry that they have, the different shades that their personalities have were fantastic.”
While Hathaway is widely celebrated for her dramatic and comedic performances, Mitchell believes audiences will discover a different side of the Academy Award-winning actress in “The End of Oak Street.”
“Anne is just an amazing actress,” says the director. “I knew she’d be incredible if we were lucky enough for her to do it.”
The director was particularly impressed by Hathaway’s work during the film’s most frightening sequences.
“When we started to get to the suspense and danger and fear, she took it to another level, we all felt it, everyone watching. It was phenomenal, seeing her perform in that way.”
According to Mitchell, Hathaway brings remarkable emotional range to the role, moving naturally between strength, fear, pain, and determination.
“It’s believable. It’s real,” he says.
A Collaboration Nearly Eight Years in the Making
The admiration between Hathaway and Mitchell goes both ways.
After watching Mitchell’s critically acclaimed horror film “It Follows,” Hathaway asked to meet the filmmaker for lunch. During their conversation, Mitchell mentioned a future project he had in mind.
Nearly eight years passed before the screenplay for “The End of Oak Street” finally reached Hathaway.
She immediately connected with the story, setting in motion a collaboration that had been years in the making.
Ewan McGregor Brings Heart, Charm, and Courage
Mitchell also praised McGregor’s portrayal of Greg, a devoted husband and father trying to protect his family while confronting his own personal struggles.
“I was thrilled when Ewan agreed to play the role of Greg,” says Mitchell. “He brings a depth, a charm, a real love to this person who’s struggling about some elements of his life.”
McGregor’s warmth, Mitchell explains, helps viewers form an immediate connection with the Platt family.
“Ewan portrays that, and it’s really wonderful, and also this really caring husband, this dad… There’s a really loveable, wonderful quality that he has that really allows you entrance into the family and you really connect with them and care.”
Of course, playing Greg also required McGregor to take on plenty of demanding physical action.
“Fighting with the dinosaurs was always fun to do,” McGregor shares.
“Annie and I had some really long runs to do – over gardens, down streets, jumping fences, running over peoples’ front yards, careful not to put our ankle down a hole. But we had fun doing that.”
A Nostalgic Tribute to 1980s Family Thrillers
Beyond its creatures and large-scale action, Hathaway was drawn to the film’s nostalgic spirit.
“One of the things I love about this film is that it does remind me of those wonderful films from the ’80s, which were almost like family horror movies,” she shares.
These were suspenseful adventures that younger viewers could experience with their parents, offering just enough danger to make them feel brave and grown-up.
“Movies that were full of suspense, movies that you could watch with your parents, they weren’t too scary for you. You felt grown up and sophisticated and mature that you got to watch this movie where things that were scary were going on. I remember loving that feeling when I was a kid in the ’80s and the ’90s.”
That mix of family drama, suspense, humor, and spectacle is also what Abrams believes makes the movie ideal for the big screen.
“‘The End of Oak Street’ is a total thrill ride,” Abrams teases. “I’ve seen it with audiences. They scream and laugh and cry and cheer. It’s the sort of film that reminds you why you go to the movies.”
About “The End of Oak Street”
