For years, PAW Patrol has won over young audiences with stories about courage, teamwork, and helping others. Now, the beloved pups are heading into their biggest adventure yet, complete with dinosaurs, an erupting volcano, and an inspiring new friend named Rex.
Voiced by newcomer Heyden Chemberlen, Rex is an exceptional rescue pup who uses a dog wheelchair and knows just about everything there is to know about dinosaurs.
Kids all over the world love PAW Patrol because it inspires them to never give up, says Chemberlen, who makes his movie debut in PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie.
Chemberlen also shares something special with the character he voices.
We’re both in a wheelchair,” he shares. “We’re also both athletic, funny, smart, and creative.
Rex Joins the PAW Patrol for a Dino-Sized Mission
In PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie, the pups find themselves far from home after their ship is caught in a mysterious storm. They eventually crash-land on an uncharted tropical island, only to discover that the place is filled with dinosaurs.
There, they meet Rex, a pup who has been stranded on the island for years. During his time there, Rex has become an expert on its prehistoric residents, making him the perfect ally when trouble starts brewing.
And, as usual, Mayor Humdinger is not far behind.
The PAW Patrol’s longtime rival begins recklessly mining the island in hopes of exploiting its natural resources. His actions soon cause a massive dormant volcano to erupt, placing the island and everything living on it in danger.
With time running out, the pups are pushed into a series of huge, high-stakes rescues unlike anything they have faced before. Together with Rex, they must stop Humdinger and protect the island before it is too late.
Mckenna Grace Thinks Rex Is “Super Cool”
Mckenna Grace returns as Skye, and her character is once again part of the action.
We crash-land on this super mysterious island and discover that there’s dinosaurs,” she shares. “Rex is this super cool character that we meet, and he’s, like, friends with T-Rexes.
That connection to the island’s dinosaurs instantly makes Rex one of the most fascinating additions to the PAW Patrolcrew.
Terry Crews, who joins the voice cast as mining and explosives expert Alistair Stonewall, is just as enthusiastic about the new pup.
He’s amazing and absolutely fun! says Crews.
A Meaningful Big-Screen Debut
For Chemberlen, becoming part of the PAW Patrol world is especially meaningful because he grew up watching the series himself.
It’s fun to see him on the screen as I grew up watching PAW Patrol,” says Chemberlen about Rex. “It’s an amazing show that inspires a lot of kids, and it makes me happy to now be in it.
His casting also gives young audiences a new character who reflects determination, confidence, and capability while bringing plenty of personality to the adventure.
Rex may be new to the big screen, but his courage, humor, and love of dinosaurs make him feel right at home alongside the rest of the pups.
A Star-Studded Voice Cast Joins the Adventure
PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie features an ensemble voice cast led by Carter Young, Mckenna Grace, Terry Crews, Meredith MacNeill, Ron Pardo, Jennifer Hudson, Heyden Chemberlen, Fortune Feimster, Jameela Jamil, Rain Janjua, Bill Nye, Paris Hilton, Lucien Duncan-Reid, William Desrosiers, Nylan Parthipan, and Snoop Dogg, with Henry Bolan being introduced in the film.
Directed by Cal Brunker and written by Brunker and Bob Barlen, the film is based on the television series created by Keith Chapman.
Backstreet Boys Bring New Music to the Movie
The adventure also comes with a new song.
“Bottle Up,” performed by the Backstreet Boys and co-written by Ed Sheeran, is now out. Fans can watch the official music video and learn the dance ahead of the film’s theatrical release.
With dinosaurs, daring rescues, familiar faces, and an inspiring new pup joining the team, PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie is set to bring another fun family adventure to the big screen.
