What happens when two strangers looking for something real meet on the one night when romance is supposedly off the table?
That is the playful premise behind “One Night Only,” the new romantic comedy from director Will Gluck, best known for Easy A and Anyone but You. Starring Academy Award nominee Monica Barbaro and BAFTA nominee Callum Turner, the film brings together chemistry, chaos, and a citywide string of mishaps in a story about finding love when you least expect it.

“One Night Only” opens in Philippine cinemas on August 26.
A Very Complicated Night for Two Hopeful Singles
Set in an ever-so-slightly fictionalized New York City, the film introduces audiences to Allie and Owen, two strangers who happen to cross paths on one particularly unusual evening.
On this night, single people are allowed to have sex without expectations or complications. At least, that is the idea.
Owen, recently dumped and still figuring out what comes next, meets Allie, a hopeful romantic who wants something deeper than a fleeting encounter. Against the odds, the two feel an immediate connection.
Then everything gets complicated.
A series of bad decisions, missed opportunities, unexpected detours, and bizarre side quests keeps pulling them apart. As they make their way across the city, each encounter brings them closer to realizing what they actually want.
And perhaps, who they want it with.

Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner Bring the Sparks
Barbaro stars as Allie following acclaimed performances in A Complete Unknown and Top Gun: Maverick. Turner, known for Masters of the Air and the Fantastic Beasts films, takes on the role of Owen.
Together, the pair anchors a romantic comedy built around sharp banter, genuine vulnerability, and the wonderfully awkward uncertainty of making a connection with someone new.
Their story asks a simple but compelling question: If everyone around you is searching for something casual, what happens when you suddenly find something meaningful?
A Standout Ensemble Joins the Fun
Beyond its central pairing, “One Night Only” features an impressive cast packed with familiar names.
Joining Barbaro and Turner are Maya Hawke of Stranger Things, Julia Fox of Uncut Gems, musician and actor King Princess, Ziwe, and Saturday Night Live performer Ben Marshall.
The film also features beloved screen icons Molly Ringwald and Levar Burton, adding even more personality to an already colorful lineup.

With such an eclectic ensemble, the night is bound to become even more unpredictable.
Will Gluck Brings His Rom-Com Touch Back to the Big Screen
Known for mixing humor, romance, and larger-than-life personalities, Will Gluck returns to familiar territory with a new take on the modern romantic comedy.
Gluck co-wrote, directed, and produced “One Night Only,” based on a script by Travis Braun. He produces the film through Olive Bridge Entertainment alongside Jacqueline Monetta, vice president of Olive Bridge and an executive producer on Anyone but You.
This time around, Gluck puts the spotlight on two people trying to make sense of attraction, timing, and expectations during one anything-but-normal night.
The result is a witty and swoony story where romance refuses to follow the rules.
Could the Worst Night Become the Best One?
For Allie and Owen, the night begins with no promises.
But between the missed connections, emotional detours, and mounting chaos, something unexpected starts to take shape.

Maybe finding love is not about having the perfect plan. Maybe it is about meeting the right person at exactly the wrong time.
See how their unforgettable night unfolds when “One Night Only” arrives in Philippine cinemas on August 26.
