    Silent Hill 2 Remake

    Konami and the Bloober Team are revamping Silent Hill 2 which will be available on the PlayStation 5, made with new technology, and will be playable in 4K. It will also be made with the help of the original Team Silent artist Masahiro Ito and composer Akira Yamaoka.

    Silent Hill 2 follows James Sunderland who receives a letter from his late wife and finds himself on a trip to the terrifying town of Silent Hill in order to find her.

    Silent Hill Townfall

    This spinoff game from No Code Studios and Annapurna Interactive promises a new take on the horror game franchise. More details about the game are yet to be revealed.

    Silent Hill F

    This Silent Hill game is set in the ’60s in Japan, with a story written by Japanese writer Ryukishi07 who created the visual novels Higurashi and Umineko. The brief trailer for the upcoming game featured some disturbing imagery as a girl gets enveloped by flowers. Further details about the game are still under wraps.

    Silent Hill: Ascension

    Silent Hill: Ascension is expected to be an immersive and interactive live experience for Silent Hill fans. The interactive experience promises to recreate the feeling of being scared together among the audience, and the decisions made in the game will shape the Silent Hill canon forever. Silent Hill: Ascension is set for release in 2023.

    The third movie from Silent Hill‘s film series is now in the works, with director Christophe Gans helming the project. Gans also directed the first film in the franchise. More details about the film are soon to be revealed.

  • An Open World ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Mobile Game is in the Works!

    Square Enix London Mobile has soft-launched the new open-world mobile game Avatar: Generations, based on the hit Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender.

    The game has now been soft-launched in Canada, Denmark, South Africa, and Sweden, and is set to expand territories in the following months. Available on both Android and iOS, Avatar: Generations is a free-to-play tactical RPG that explores the beloved stories of Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Zuko, Appa, and Momo, in their globetrotting quest to fulfill the Avatar’s destiny. Moreover, it also teases future expansions which will follow Avatars Kyoshi, Korra, Roku, and more.

    The adventure game is set to feature squad-based battles with deep upgrade and party customization systems. Players will also be able to play fan-favorite locations, stories, and events in this open-world game, which also adds some brand new stories expanding the Avatar universe.

    Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender is set in a world where people can “bend” or manipulate the elements. The series follows the Airbender Aang, who must restore balance in the world as the Avatar, the master of all four elements, and put a stop to the Fire Nation and their tyrannical Fire Lord Ozai who wants to take over the world. A live-action adaptation of the animated series led by a Filipino-Canadian actor is also in the works on Netflix.

    A new fantasy open-world RPG is heading to PC and mobile this August!

    Titled Tower of Fantasy (ToF), this new game is pretty similar to Genshin Impact, the RPG game that took the world by storm. Aside from the similar aesthetics of anime characters and lush world, the new game also adds a futuristic spin to its alien world of Aida. You can also play with friends in its shared open world.

    Here’s the official synopsis for the game:

    In Tower of Fantasy, dwindling resources and a lack of energy have forced mankind to leave earth and migrate to Aida, a lush and habitable alien world. There, they observed the comet Mara and discovered an unknown but powerful energy called “Omnium” contained in it. They built the Omnium Tower to capture Mara, but due to the influence of Omnium radiation, a catastrophic disaster occurred on their new homeworld.

    ToF also promises an interesting roster of characters, each with unique weapons and backstories you can explore. Some of these characters have already been revealed on their website, including Zeke, Shirli, Nemesis, and Frigg.

  • WATCH: Kirby Absorbs Real-Life Objects in ‘Kirby and the Forgotten Land’ Game Trailer

    The pink hero Kirby is back on an all-new adventure that takes his abilities to the next level in Kirby and The Forgotten Land!

    Nintendo has just released a new trailer for the upcoming game, which reveals the Mouthful Mode, which allows Kirby to inhale real-life objects and use them to the powerful puffball’s advantage. Aside from this new power, the trailer also showcased Kirby’s copy abilities that can be evolved! Watch the trailer below:

    As the trailer revealed, Kirby can now stuff his mouth with cars which allows him to zoom around and run over obstacles; vending machines that allow him to shoot cans; cones that can pierce through pipes; and so much more! Meanwhile, evolving Kirby’s copy abilities gives him more damaging power, and also changes his appearance. With Kirby’s new powers, your mission is to rescue the Waddle Dees who were kidnapped by the mysterious Beast Pack.

    Kirby and The Forgotten Land is set for release on the Nintendo Switch this March 25. The game is available now for pre-order via the Nintendo eShop.

But this style of Asian horror does not just apply to films or TV series, as video games created by Asian developers also create that distinct atmosphere for players.

Note that to give more attention to lesser-known titles, this list skipped some of the globally recognized horror games from Japan, such as the Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and The Evil Within franchises.     Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water

    In this horror adventure puzzle game from Japan, players take the role of Aya Drevis, an 11-year-old girl who must uncover the secrets of the Drevis mansion where terrifying experiments are being conducted every night. Make use of dangerous tools such as knives, hammers, chainsaws, and bottles of eyeballs to survive and discover the truth.

    White Day: A Labyrinth Named School

    White Day: A Labyrinth Named School is a chilling horror stealth game from Korea. Set on the eve of the gift-giving holiday White Day, the young student Hee-Min slips into school to hide a box of candies for the girl he likes. But soon, he finds himself trapped in the building with a killer janitor and the souls of the dead close on his heels. Play as Hee-Min and survive the night in the haunted school that’s full of secrets and horrors.

    Set during the night of the Hungry Ghost Festival, this first-person horror game follows a group of young people who gathered in Kowloon Walled City to shoot for their online supernatural channel “Beyond the Invisible”. But as the crew members begin to disappear one by one, Ah Lok finds himself faced with a series of terrifying phenomena. The only thing that pushes him is to find their actress Kathy and get her out of there as soon as possible.

    This Chinese horror game will also be appreciated by puzzle-loving players. Plagued by nightmares of paper dolls attacking you, you decide to take your daughter to your ex-wife. But when your disorientation causes theca, you find your daughter missing and your search for her leads you to a deserted Asian mansion. As you investigate further inside the mansion, a tale of terror buried for a hundred years starts to unravel.

    Pamali: Indonesian Folklore Horror

    This horror game gives players a dip into Indonesian folklore. Explore haunted places, interact with mystical objects, and discover the mysteries involving Indonesian myth, coupled with the country’s taboo and culture. Ultimately, survive the night filled with horrors in every turn.

    The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters

    This Korean survival horror game is presented as a 2D side-scroller. You play as Mina Park, a Sehwa High student who suddenly awakens in her school during the night. The school that was once so familiar looked eery, and she finds herself being stalked by a sinister figure that looks like her teacher. To survive, she must explore the school and its surrounding district where she will have to face mysterious beings and creepy creatures.
