Normally, we order salads as an appetizer or something to balance out a very rich meal. But these days, salads aren’t just a boring bowl of greens and random vegetables, they can actually serve as the main dish and fill you up. If you find yourself looking for a healthy and delicious meal, plenty of restaurants offer crave-worthy salads that will actually make you happy and satisfy you. Whether you’re out and about or ordering in at home, here are restaurants and salad-centric stores in Manila that you need to add to your must-try list:
There’s no doubt that when it comes to Jollibee, one of Filipinos’ and fans’ favorite items on the menu is the beloved Peach Mango Pie. That pocket of real-fruit goodness will always be popular no matter the season, and it’s never going away.
In fact, it’s so good and well-loved that Jollibee is even taking it to another level: after public demand for a version that can be enjoyed at a much grander scale, the brand is introducing the new Large Peach Mango Pie!
Yes, that’s right—the Large Peach Mango Pie is everything you love about the original Peach Mango Pie, but bigger for bigger appetites. It’s still got that real peach and mango fruit that makes the most delightful filling inside that unmistakably satisfying crispy golden pie crust, only there’s more of it to enjoy!
“At Jollibee, we’re all about making people happy with their favorite food. With the introduction of the Large Peach Mango Pie, we found an opportunity in which we could make one of our most popular menu items, the Peach Mango Pie, into something that retains its iconic goodness and crispiness, but giving customers a bigger flavor experience,” said Bea Bediones, Jollibee Marketing’s Brand Manager for Pies.
The Jollibee Large Peach Mango Pie is available in all stores nationwide for only PHP 45 Solo, and PHP 132 for 3 Pies To-Go. Have it safely delivered to you via the Jollibee Delivery App, JollibeeDelivery.com, or #87000. Also available in Drive-Thru and Take Out!

Almost a year since its launch, Made in Bangkok has finally released their second set of menu with more flavorful dishes to boot! Now complete with appetizers, salad, and more seafood dishes that are perfect to pair with their coconut plain rice.
As mentioned, they have focused on the bounties of the sea with the Salmon Curry (P690/single; P1,360/tray) as the highlight. Served with their coconut plain rice, it has perfectly cooked fatty salmon swimming in rich and creamy red curry sauce with cherry tomato. There’s also the Sweet Chili Tiger Prawns (P720) that’s even more perfect after popping it in the air fryer for a few minutes. A serving has four jumbo tiger prawns tossed in fried basil sweet chili.
For something extra refreshing, the Prawn Pomelo Salad (P480) is a must-order. This has freshly poached prawns that are extra plump, served with Davao pomelo on top of fresh greens and fried shallots, served with a sweet and tart lime coconut dressing. We’re definitely starting a petition to bottle this dressing!
A great pica-pica option, or if you’re a rice eater is the Crispy Prawn Cakes (P430) which has finely chopped fresh prawns in tom yum paste and served with cucumber sweet chili and Thai nam phrik sauce. There’s also the Salmon Spring Rolls (P470) that’s an instant favorite. These are crispy fried salmon spring roll with homemade red curry, fresh garlic, and coriander.

Ready your palates for take-off and taste the rich flavors of Japan from the comfort of your own home!
Pia’s Kitchen, a CloudEats brand created in collaboration with none other than 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach, is set to deliver different cuisines from around the world through their traveling menu which changes cuisines every few months. Right now, their menu offers sumptuous dishes from Japan perfected for deliveries and home consumption.
In case you didn’t know, CloudEats is a restaurant group that operates with cloud kitchens, meaning they are solely available for delivery. Thus, they make sure that their food remains presentable, IG-worthy even, and the quality remains throughout the whole delivery process: from their kitchens to your door!
Before becoming a beauty queen and the Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach studied culinary arts at the Center for Asian Culinary Studies (CACS). At a recent exclusive tasting event for Pia’s Kitchen held at the CloudEats Test Kitchen in BGC, Wurtzbach recalls how she started this business venture.
“It’s been a while since I got in touch with my culinary roots, but it’s always been at the back of my mind. I love food, hindi na mawawala sa’kin yan. Especially now that I’ve been traveling a lot, I’ve been exposed to so many different cuisines and flavors, and it’s been such a dream. Also now that I’m in a phase in my life where I really wanna have my own businesses, I am really into trying my hands at entrepreneurship. So when the opportunity came to work with CloudEats on a project like this, I said yes right away because it was exactly what I was looking for,” the beauty queen shared.
A trip to Japan through food
While Pia’s Kitchen is set to deliver different food from different cuisines, each menu is carefully curated by Pia and Chef Carlo Miguel to really tackle your tastebuds with its chosen flavors for the season. Their current Japanese menu, for example, really embraces the food in Japan that carry both quality and convenience.
During the tasting event, we started with a sampler of their Spam Sando, a filling sandwich that combines the lip-smacking flavors of SPAM, scrambled eggs, spring onions, and their Umami Sauce.
A sampler of the Spam Sando
For sandwich lovers, they also offer other Sandos such as the Beef Sando made with a homemade beef patty, cheddar cheese, caramelized onion, and Umami Sauce; their Kani Sando with Spicy Kani and hardboiled egg; and Quorn Katsu Sando with Quorn Fillet, Teriyaki and Umami Sauce, and fresh cabbage.
If you’re going for some greens, their Salmon Teriyaki Salad is really a solid choice. Its perfectly seared salmon glazed in Teriyaki Sauce is so soft and rich in flavor while the combination of fresh vegetables and fruits– Romaine, red cabbage, cucumber, mango, red onion, and quinoa– further elevated by their Asian Salad Dressing really freshens up one’s palate.

If you’re a fan of spicy food, you can also try their Spicy Kani Salad made with fresh greens, furikake, ebiko, and ripe mangoes mixed with a salad of Kani with a spicy mayo dressing.
The love for a hot bowl of rice with some flavorful ulam is something we Filipinos and the Japanese share. At Pia’s Kitchen, you can choose from a tempting roster of donburi meals!
We got to try their Chicken Katsu Curry, which has a Panko-crusted chicken thigh fillet that has tender meat under its crispy coating, a separate curry sauce you can add to your liking, and pickled red onions, jicama, and carrots to garnish. The striking flavor of the curry really speaks authenticity, beckoning the diner to chow it all down in no time.

Another rice meal we got to dig into is their Beef Gyudon. Thinly sliced, its beef is really tender and bursting with flavor. The poached egg also gives this flavor balance while the onions complete the components for every satisfying spoonful.

Aside from these two, here are more donburi meals from Pia’s Kitchen: Pork Katsu Curry, Pork Katsudon, Salmon Teriyaki Bowl, and Beef Curry Rice. If you crave something more packed with flavors and ingredients, they also have a Spam Musubi Bake made with sushi rice, Spam cubes, Tebasaki sauce, savory cream cheese, and furikake.
As for their desserts lineup, we got to try a sampler of their Egg Tart, which has a crisp and flaky tart and a soft custard center that has the right amount of sweetness. They also have the Milk Tea Egg Tarts which are infused with milk tea flavor and topped with boba pearls. Finally, their Original Basque Cheesecake offers a light and rich cheesecake with a deep caramel exterior.
If you’re ready to dig into these delicious Japanese dishes before Pia’s Kitchen takes us to its next destination, ordering is hassle-free and just a few taps away! Their dishes are available 24/7 via GrabFood with prices ranging from P150 to P300.
For more information, visit the social media pages of Pia’s Kitchen on Facebook and Instagram. You can also visit the CloudEats website.
If you’re looking for a unique way to express your love for Mom for this year’s Mother’s Day, look no further. Treat the Queen that she is with their specialty cake featuring fresh mangoes and fragrant pandan.
The Pandan Mango Swoon Cake (P1,850/whole cake; P390/baby cake) has delicate layers of pandan sponge cake, slathered with housemade pandan custard and bits of fresh mango. It is then finished off with a fluffy pandan-flavored frosting and garnished with fresh mango swirls that are exceptionally sweet, and 24k gold flakes to make it extra special. Just like their other creations, it’s as delectable as it looks. Each spoonful will leave you wanting more!
This Mother’s Day special is now available for pre-orders via their website, and will be available from May 1 to 31, 2022.
It has been hot and humid these past few days, and what better to refresh ourselves than Nono’s summer menu? Available only until May, the new summer menu features bounties of the sea and the return of a classic Nono’s dish.
Begin your journey into the sea with a serving of Mediterranean Salad with Shrimp which has mixed greens, dates, candied walnuts, julienned apple, feta cheese, and plump shrimps tossed in a refreshing balsamic vinaigrette dressing and drizzled with honey. It’s light, crisp, and every bite is so indulgent!
Mediterranean Salad with Shrimp Salmon Croquettes
Meanwhile, the Salmon Croquettes is best for those who are looking for that irresistible crunch. These breaded salmon cakes are fried until crispy and then served with paprika aioli dip and a side salad. It’s the perfect appetizer to share with your family or friends. The Vongole is another crowd-favorite. This light and flavorful seafood pasta features al dente spaghetti noodles with fresh clams flavored with white wine, butter, olive oil, chili flakes, and roasted garlic. Make sure to wipe your plate clean with the crusty sourdough bread that’s served with it!
Lastly, a holiday favorite makes a comeback this summer! The Steak & Shrimp a la Pobre is Nono’s take on the classic surf-and-turf dish — steak cooked just the way you like it and juicy shrimps sauteed in their special garlic sauce. It’s served with a side of garlic rice so expect a delicious and flavorful treat in every mouthful!
Try these in any of your favorite Nono’s branches until May 30, 2022. Nono’s restaurants are located in UP Town Center, The Podium, Three Central Makati, Festival Mall, Glorietta 2, Power Plant Mall, Ayala Malls Manila Bay, S Maison, High Street South BGC, Uptown Mall Taguig, and Nuvali Sta. Rosa. We’re also on foodpanda, Grabfood, and Pickaroo.
