BGC celebrates community’s rich glocal culture with Passionfest 2023
No matter what we do or where we are from, passion is both a feeling and concept that keeps everyone thriving. It’s a strong sensation, something that brings us closer to our goals and what makes our daily journeys worth exploring.

It is also what Bonifacio Global City has delivered with Passionfest – which is making its way back after four years! Located at the heart of BGC from November 25-26, passions come alive this year with the theme ‘Colour and Culture Festival,’ which aims to celebrate the rich glocal culture of BGC and cater to the unique interests of its various communities.

With a rich 11-year history, Passionfest originated as a celebration of all things Filipino fiesta, but this year’s plans to be a bigger fest celebrating inclusivity and diversity that stays true to the heart and soul of BGC.

From food, active lifestyle, sustainability, music, live out your passions in a grand, lively, and colorful way, enjoy a vibrant Passionfest this 2023 as it kicks off on November 25 with its Passion Parade. Expect this vivid showcase to boast a massive marching band accompanied by street dancers, who will introduce all to the fun that is Passionfest, and recognize the diverse communities that make up BGC. Get more into the glocal spirit as this is immediately followed by the sounds of the Passion Music Fest, which will be home to the likes of The Diegos and DJ Honey as they bring the festival further to life, alongside a mesmerizing performance by TAGO, a percussion performance group brought by the Korean Cultural Center. The sounds won’t end there as the following day, Coke Studio will also be lending the voices of Coke Artists Kevin Montillano, John Walter, and dwta to serenade all Passionfest goers.

Upon enjoying these attractions, don’t step out just yet as stretches of BGC will be decorated with a number of activities, booths, and workshops, all of which aims to recreate and enliven your everyday passions and experiences:
- Global Fusion Block: Celebrating the best of food and culture around the world, never run out of options with over 60 stalls with various tasty offerings. Renowned Polish chef Aleksander Baron and his sous chef Agnieszka Kraszewska will also be hosting cooking demonstrations for those wanting to sharpen up their skills in the kitchen!
- R.O.X. Red Rush District: Bringing the experience of the greater world all the way to BGC, ROX brings its ROX Outdoor Festivals to Passionfest with over 30 global ROX brands showcasing fun and engaging activities that will let all appreciate the outdoors!
- Go Green Zone: Keeping close to its advocacy towards a greener planet, Passionfest aims to be a festival of sustainability. Expect this zone to launch the newest set of electric bikes and scooters from Moovr; and also serve as the home of social enterprise Urban Farmers who will be hosting various workshops on practicing sustainability.
- Cherry Avenue: Enjoy the best of chill and fun vibes at Passionfest! Coke will be bringing an even brighter beam of optimism in this portion, in which all can enjoy a range of activities through their Coke Music Lounge, games, and even a TikTok Station
- Neutral Zone: End your visit with a trip to this spot, which will once again bring out the inner passion in everyone with its many interactive activities – Toby’s will be powering up the Neutral Zone with their Open Chess Games and Chess Competition, to be complemented by workshops for kids from Playscape!
- Main Festival Stage: Located at 5th Avenue, more booths to enjoy from partners Coke, Hyundai, Globe will be found here which will let all fully engage with their passions

Sporty souls are in for a treat as not only will there be a Pickleball Open Play hosted by Toby’s to be located at 31st Street; but Nike will also be having the BGC Hoops Finals at the Nike Courtyard!

At the De Jesus Oval, a Year-End Yard Sale will be featuring nearly 30 merchants; while together with the BGC Arts Center and Alveo Central, the HARK! FDCP’s International Film Industry Conference is back for its 7th Edition

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) remains committed to advancing the Philippine film industry with the conduct of this year’s International Film Industry Conference (IFIC) from November 20 to 21 through an in-person conference at Novotel in Quezon City with simultaneous broadcast via Zoom.

In partnership with QCinema International Film Festival and Full Circle Lab Philippines, the 7th edition of IFIC continues to create an avenue for filmmakers, students, and seasoned professionals to engage with industry experts and discuss the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities that they can explore for the development, production, and distribution of their talents and projects.

This year’s conference will feature a series of free public sessions on relevant topics including film restoration, the role of social media in film festival marketing, the significance of post-production in the era of streaming, the power of international co-production in Asia, and the dynamics of distribution with sales agents and distributors.

In an effort to bridge the gap between the Philippine film industry and the international market, the IFIC will facilitate a roundtable discussion with the members of the Asian Film Alliance Network (AFAN) discussing the vital role of unity and collaboration within Asian film communities.

Hong Kong Disneyland Unveils the Magical “World of Frozen”

In a dazzling prelude to the much-anticipated opening of the world’s first “Frozen”-themed land, guests from across the globe gathered at Hong Kong Disneyland for “A Spectacular Celebration of World of Frozen.” This grand event promised a glimpse into the captivating kingdom of Arendelle, inspired by the blockbuster animated films “Frozen” and “Frozen 2.” World of Frozen will transport guests to the cinematic and living land – Arendelle. Guests will delve into this immersive travel destination, with its captivating stories, beloved characters, culture, stunning landscapes, enchanting music, and cutting-edge technology for the first time in forever by celebrating Summer Snow Day and enjoying fun-filled attractions and entertainment experiences.

Honoring the Visionaries: Special Guests and Distinguished Voices

The event witnessed the presence of luminaries such as Robert Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, Jill Estorino, President of Disney Parks International, Michael Moriarty, Managing Director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, and Jennifer Lee, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios and the Oscar®-winning maestro behind “Frozen” and “Frozen 2.”

As Queen Elsa cast her Ice Magic, summoning the appearance of Olaf and creating an enchanting atmosphere, Queen Anna proclaimed that the gates of Arendelle are opening, and all guests enjoyed a beautiful evening beneath the stars.

Embraced by Joy: Christmas Concert at The Pen 2023

Musical theater performers and Aliw awardees Lara Maigue and Arman Ferrer join the Manila Symphony Orchestra (MSO) at The Lobby of The Peninsula Manila as the featured solo guest artists at this year’s grandest holiday musical celebration: Christmas Concert at The Pen on Sunday, December 3, 2023.

Under the direction of Floy Quintos and musical director and conductor National Artist for Music Maestro Ryan Cayabyab, this year’s annual festive season concert promises to ring in the Christmas spirit with favorite carols and orchestral pieces from musical theater and the classics.

Joining Maigue, Ferrer, the MSO, and Maestro Cayabyab are the Ateneo de Manila University’s Ateneo Chamber Singers and the Kalilayan Folk Dance Group.

“We are delighted to have this wealth of Filipino talents at this year’s Christmas concert,” says Masahisa Oba, General Manager of The Peninsula Manila. “Together, they will bring the holiday spirit into the hearts of our audience through music celebrating the joy of the holiday season and provide a festive finale to the year.”

“The first part of this year’s concert includes music from “E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial”, “My Fair Lady”, “West Side Story”, and “Camelot”, as well as a Michel Legrand medley played live by the MSO,” adds Mr. Oba. “I hope this will add a new energy to the concert and will engage our guests and patrons in a different way, making them realize how essential music is to a film. Of course, we haven’t forgotten to include Christmas carols to this year’s concert. This is our pamaskong handog, after all.”

Christmas Concert at the Pen will be held on Sunday, 3 December 2023, 5:00 pm, at The Lobby. There is a P 60,000 consumable fee for a table of 10 (with a set festive merienda) or P 24,000 for a table of four (with a set festive merienda menu) at The Lobby.

Tables of four are available at The Upper Lobby for P 14,000.
