Starting March 9 to April 27, 7-Eleven will hold 7-Election 2022, its unofficial and unscientific yet fun and creative mock poll. Now on its third run, 7-Election gives everyone, regardless of voting age, the freedom and opportunity to cast as many votes as they want by choosing the cup of their presidential bet.

There is so much going on in the country, especially with the upcoming presidential elections just months away. The toxic conversations, the spread of false information, and the rise of ‘cancel culture’ can be so overwhelming. So if you need a break from it all, 7-Eleven is here to bring convenience — and provide a safe space to #SpeakCUP and be heard!

7-Election offers a fun way to vote because at 7-Eleven, walang basagan ng drink! There are six available cups, each representing a presidentiable namely: Ping Lacson, Bongbong Marcos, Isko Moreno, Manny Pacquiao, and Leni Robredo, and one undecided cup for those who have yet to make a decision.

Despite being an unofficial and unscientific way to vote, the 7-Election campaign has correctly predicted the winners of the presidential elections since it began in 2010.

These specially-designed 22oz GULP and 12oz City Cafe cups, each with a unique barcode, will be available in over 3,000 7-Eleven stores nationwide from March 9 to April 27.

Customers can participate in this fun mock poll by availing a GULP or City Cafe drink from over 3,000 7-Eleven stores nationwide, starting at P35 for Gulp and P39 for City Café. One scanned cup equates to one vote. Votes are tallied daily and are reflected on the 7-Eleven microsite, www.7-election.com.ph. Customers can visit and view their specific 7-Eleven store’s leaderboard tally, which is updated every Friday.

It’s only during 7-Election that registered and unregistered, of-age and underage customers alike can vote for their presidential bet more than once, and even change their mind midway.

While the campaign gives people a fun break from all the seriousness, 7-Election aims to promote voter awareness, encourage responsible voting, and ultimately, give the public a chance to be heard while engaging in healthy conversations with fellow Filipinos.

Ninong Ry and Panlasang Pinoy Collaborate to Tackle Tinola Trouble

ICYMI: Celebrity chefs, Ninong Ry and Panlasang Pinoy’s Vanjo Merano released separate videos over the weekend in what appeared to be a throwdown-slash-collaboration between the two. Both personalities appeared in each other’s videos and showed viewers their own take on cooking the oh-so-controversial tinolang manok.

Anyone who’s seen either of the videos surely know by now that the reason the two chefs got together is because of an ongoing Twitter debate between lovers and haters of the traditional Filipino comfort food. The said debate—which many refer to as Tinola Slander—started in March last year but continues to persist today. Last week, famous meme accounts, FTTM and Kabulastugan, posted a screenshot of a tweet about it on Facebook. In less than 24 hours, the said posts had already had more than 20,000 and 1,000 reactions respectively and have been shared at least 3,000 times.

It was these posts that apparently drove the attention of Ninong Ry, Vanjo, and even global food brand, Knorr, to the Tinola Slander debate. Netizens were quick to tag the three on it, asking them to show haters how to properly cook tinola. Needless to say, they were happy to oblige and just a couple of days later, the videos are now up, further proving that the power of social media—even a seemingly petty discussion about the culinary value of tinola—can get people to take action. In the case of the two chefs, it gave them a good reason to collaborate.

Hershey’s Philippines Celebrates Women Power with Limited Edition ‘HerShe’ Bars

This March, Hershey’s Philippines celebrates the real power of women. Inspired greatly by this purpose, it has transformed its iconic chocolate bar packaging into a canvas of the achievements and contributions of four extraordinary Filipino women.

In time for International Women’s Day, Hershey’s Philippines collaborated with four unsung Filipino heroes—Malou Perez, Kate Alvarez, Sabrina Tamayo, and Fredeswinda Samonte—all admirable women whose work has helped to inspire many Filipinos.

The limited special “HerShe” packaging features photos of these four phenomenal women laid out on designs that showcase their stories and contributions to their communities.

Sabrina Tamayo’s Project SMILE aids persons with disabilities by connecting them with employment and other sources of livelihood and support. Freswinda Samonte of PGH’s Cancer Survivors Organization works actively to help support cancer patients.

Nica Babia and Eunice Carbonel, two up-and-coming Filipina illustrators, created the artworks. These reflect the advocacies through vibrant designs and colors to celebrate these incredible women and feature their causes.

“The Hershey’s IWD packs were designed to give honor to our unsung sheroes who quietly, with bravery and kindness, touch and change the lives of many. The four women and what they’re fighting for have deeply moved us,” Babia said.

Carbonel shared, “I think what inspired me is how kindness is contagious and how it helps us have a sense of connection towards others. It does not have to be big, and it certainly does not have to be related to money.”

The café’s delicious sandwiches come in six variants: Egg Salad Sandwich with chips (Php 195), Chicken Sandwich with chips (Php 295), BLT Sandwich with chips (Php 295), The Ultimate Clubhouse Sandwich with chips (Php 355), Classic PB&J with chips (Php 155), and The Wrong Sandwich – a play on the name of the local luncheon meat (Php 295).
