The game is afoot, and Sherlock has a new address! This February 21st, Lionsgate Play rolls out the red carpet for the world’s greatest detective – and trust us, you won’t want to miss it!
Join Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch), and his steadfast partner, Dr. John Watson (Martin Freeman), as they crack impossible cases and go head-to-head with London’s most formidable criminal masterminds. From decoding intricate puzzles to outwitting the dangerously unpredictable Jim Moriarty (Andrew Scott), every episode delivers intrigue, suspense, and razor-sharp wit.
Sharing his first memory of working on the series, lead actor, Benedict Cumberbatch said “Learning the lines for the audition, really. That was the first bit of work I ever did on it. And this is hard, but a lot of fun.”
In an interview with Vogue, Benedict Cumberbatch opened up about his thoughts about Sherlock’s personality,“I thought he should be more – not stiff but like a guy who does a lot of yoga. It’s that strength where people look weak but their core is strong. He’s incredibly poised. Back straight. His head leans to the side.” He further added, “There’s this thing about him being very reserved and austere. I wanted him to be a bit more rock star. There is something almost boyish – a joy about him. I wanted him to smile. “
Created by Doctor Who masterminds Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, Sherlock reimagines the classic detective tales into 90-minute episodes that will keep you guessing until the end. From the chilling murder spree in “A Study in Pink” to the eerie mysteries of “The Hounds of Baskerville”, each case is a puzzle you won’t be able to resist.
Sherlock’s modern reinvention of the classic detective series has earned multiple accolades, including Primetime Emmy Awards for Cumberbatch, Freeman, and Moffat, a BAFTA for Best Television Drama, and a Peabody Award, cementing its status as a TV phenomenon.
Completing a well-loved legacy of 15 years filled with mind bending twists and captivating cases since its 2010 debut, all 4 seasons will now be available exclusively on Lionsgate Play for Philippines audiences. Get ready to dive back into the world of mystery, and genius – because you’re about to be Sher-locked!
Don’t miss this chance to experience the brilliance of Sherlock! Catch all four seasons on Lionsgate Play on February 21.
What happens when four powerhouse actresses team up in an action-packed spy movie? You get The 355– a star-studded thriller that delivers high-stakes suspense and heart-pounding action. The film follows a group of international agents who must put aside their rivalries to keep a top-secret weapon from falling into the wrong hands and triggering World War III.
CIA operative Mace (Jessica Chastain) is tasked to retrieve a top-secret weapon – a flash drive that can hack into any computer with a few keystrokes – and recruits the help of her colleague, retired British MI6 operative Khadijah Adiyeme (Lupita Nyong’o). The mission gets messier when DNI agent and psychologist Graciela Rivera (Penelope Cruz) and rival German BND agent Marie Schmidt (Diane Kruger) join the hunt, each wanting to claim the program drive for their respective agencies. But a group of four head-strong heroines clashing heads isn’t the end of their problems, they must work together to make sure the weapon doesn’t fall into the hands of international crime entrepreneurs.
The 355 is an original action thriller conceptualized by Jessica Chastain herself and written by Simon Kinberg and Theresa Rebeck. Featuring some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, The 355 is sure to be an exhilarating ride for fans of high-octane espionage. In an interview with Screenrant, Jessica Chastain, who plays Mace and is also one of the film’s producers, talks about what excited her most in creating the movie, “Well, I like the idea that the actresses are all the bosses of the film. They’re the owners of the film. We raised the money on our own. We developed the script together, the characters together, we are the owners. It was made outside of a studio system, independently. We made it for a fraction of the cost of what a normal movie like this is made for. So, it’s exciting to me that the artists are now the owners of the work, and especially women. It’s exciting to me that the actresses are the ones in charge of the film.”
Director Simon Kinberg shared with CBR what drew him into directing the film,“I’m a huge James Bond fan and I love the spy genre in general. The first script I ever wrote was Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The 355 is a different kind of spy movie, but it is a love letter to spy movies. So, I was intrigued by the fact that it was a spy movie. I loved the idea of a female-ensemble spy movie. There are two things in there that are novel. One, there’s not a lot of female spy movies. But two, there are even fewer ensemble spy movies.”
Buckle up for a thrilling ride when The 355 comes to Lionsgate Play on January 31, 2025.
Hello, 2025! The new year is off to an electrifying start, and Lionsgate Play is here to keep you entertained like never before. Whether you’re craving high-stakes action or gripping drama, this month’s second half lineup has it all – promising an unforgettable January. So, grab your favorite snacks, settle in, and get ready to binge watch with Lionsgate Play!
When a top-secret weapon falls into the wrong hands, CIA wild card Mason “Mace” Brown (Jessica Chastain) teams up with three unlikely allies to save the world from chaos. Alongside the relentless German agent Marie (Diane Kruger), tech-savvy MI6 specialist Khadijah (Lupita Nyong’o), and the level-headed Colombian psychologist Graciela (Penélope Cruz), she engages in a pulse-pounding race across the globe — from the elegant streets of Paris to the bustling markets of Morocco and the high-stakes auction houses of Shanghai. But there’s a twist at every turn as a shadowy figure, Lin Mi Sheng (Fan Bingbing), seems always one step ahead, forcing the team to build a shaky trust that might secure the weapon or destroy them all.
After a shocking rise to power, Lenny Belardo (Jude Law) becomes the first American pope, adopting the name Pius XIII. His unexpected election is seen as a calculated gamble by the College of Cardinals, but Lenny quickly proves to be anything but predictable. Aloof and enigmatic, he defies Vatican traditions, relying solely on Sister Mary (Diane Keaton), as his trusted confidante. While Sister Mary encourages him to connect with his billion-strong flock, the young pope remains distant, stirring tension and intrigue within the Holy See.
Looking for a follow-up? “The New Pope” picks up where “The Young Pope” left off, blending biting satire with gripping drama to peel back the gilded facade of the Vatican. When Sir John Brannox (John Malkovich), a refined and charismatic English aristocrat, rises to the papal throne as John Paul III, the Vatican is thrust into a new chapter of leadership.
When Mack Leigh (Rachel Griffiths) discovers her husband’s infidelity and is drowning in debt, she takes an unexpected and bold step to secure her family’s future — launching an ethical brothel. Madam follows Mack’s daring attempt to challenge societal norms, redefine the meaning of sex work, and tackle the stigma surrounding her unconventional business.

The 2025 Golden Globes red carpet was everything we hoped it would be and more. From debuting daring hairdos to serving old Hollywood glam, the red carpet made sure our jaws stayed glued to the floor. Whether you were team sparkles or dramatic silhouettes, the first event of 2025’s awards season did not disappoint.

Here are just some of the standout moments we’re obsessing over:
Zendaya owns the night (again)
It’s official — Zendaya is in a league of her own. Styled by the legendary Law Roach, Zendaya graced the carpet in a monochromatic orange custom Louis Vuitton ensemble that left no detail unchecked. From the gown to the heels and even her rusty-hued locks, she was a literal goddess. Iconic. Thank you, Z, for delivering yet again.
Fresh off her first Grammy win last year, Miley Cyrus knows a thing or two about making moves — on the stage and the red carpet. She showed up in a shimmering Celine gown with bold cut-outs, a ’00s updo (complete with chunky highlights), and topped it off with the ultimate power move: sunglasses. Take notes, people: that’s how you do effortlessly cool.
Cynthia Erivo defies gravity with drama
Cynthia Erivo’s structured peplum commanded everyone’s attention. With a deep v-neckline and silver embellishments, the Louis Vuitton ensemble exuded drama and confidence, perfectly complementing her jaw-dropping performance in Wicked.
Cate Blanchett’s golden comeback
Cate Blanchett joined Viola Davis in proving that red carpet magic can happen twice in the same dress. Blanchett returned to the Golden Globes in a gold Louis Vuitton gown that had already made waves at Cannes less than a year ago. Its cape-style bodice, metallic shoulder detailing, sleek column skirt, and dramatic train were pure elegance. She paired the show-stopping gown with minimal accessories and a sharp side-parted blonde bob.
Viola Davis re-wears Gucci like royalty
Viola Davis understood the assignment and flipped the sustainability script. When Gucci creates a masterpiece, why not wear it more than once? The 2025 Cecil B. DeMille Award honoree brought back her stunning black sequined dress from the 2024 LACMA Gala, this time wearing it with a rainbow cape. Bravo to Davis and her stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, for making rewearing just as fabulous as a red carpet debut.
Elle Fanning perfects print play
Need proof that fashion risks pay off? Look no further than Elle Fanning. Her leopard-print Balmain gown featuring a corseted champagne waist and sequined bust might sound chaotic on paper, but on her? Pure harmony. She paired it with gold Cartier for that extra oomph, reminding us why she’s the queen of combining elegance with edge.
Emma Stone unveiled a brand-new pixie cut that wowed fans on the red carpet. Rumored to be for her upcoming film, Bugonia, the haircut was paired with a radiant red Louis Vuitton gown that served straight-up Hollywood sophistication. If her new look is any indication, 2025 is the year of Emma making serious moves.
Angelina Jolie sparkles alongside her daughter
Angelina Jolie knows how to make a statement, and the stunning diva made an unforgettable entrance in a bedazzled long-sleeved dress with sheer panels and streaks of black and silver sequins. Jolie wasn’t alone — walking beside her was her daughter, Zahara Jolie, rocking a custom white Alexander McQueen dress adorned with a sequined cherry tree-inspired pattern.
Ariana Grande goes full Audrey Hepburn
Speaking of hair revamps, Ariana Grande ditched her platinum locks for a more honey-brown ‘do. The talented star arrived in a 1966 yellow haute couture Givenchy gown, paired with white gloves, and Swarovski crystal accents, she was serving “Good Witch”, but make it fashion.
Timothée Chalamet saves the men’s fashion scene (Again)
Timothée Chalamet didn’t just suit up last night. Still paying homage to Bob Dylan, he paired a simple black suit with a delightfully quirky polka-dot skinny scarf, he gave us just enough edge to keep things interesting.

5. Killing Eve
If you haven’t yet dived into Killing Eve, where have you been?! When your entire family is wiped out by a power-hungry dynasty, what do you do? If you’re Boy, you train with a shadowy shaman, harness the rage of your inner gamer, and channel it all into becoming a lean, mean vengeance machine. Played brilliantly by Bill Skarsgård (It, The Crow), this post-apocalyptic action saga follows Boy, our deaf and mute protagonist, as he tears through waves of enemies searching for his family’s killer, the cunning and deranged Hilda Van Der Koy (Famke Janssen, X-Men).
In his quest for vengeance, Boy crosses paths with a resistance crew, faces off against martial arts tyrants, and wrestles with the ghost of his rebellious sister. With brutal action sequences, a dash of dry wit, and a chaotic dystopian backdrop, you haven’t seen an action film quite like Boy Kills World.
On how he prepared for such a physical role, Bill Skarsgård says, “I would like to think of myself as a physical actor. I like to perform physically and this was a huge challenge for me with all the action moves. So I watched a lot of martial arts movies. It was sort of like learning a completely new language. We trained for six weeks, transforming my body to fit the role, then on top of that, learn how to fight — not only the action, but the physicality of how the character moved.”On how he felt about casting Bill Skarsgård, director Moritz Mohr tells GamesRadar, “Skarsgård is super expressive with his face, that alone is one big selling point for Boy and he’s a very physical actor but no action movies come to mind. On that first call with him, he was amazing and I was like, ‘So yeah, we got the acting part covered, of course, you would knock it out of the park and I know that, but are you up for doing action?’ and he’s like, ‘Absolutely. Big MMA, UFC fan. I want to get in shape. I want to train. I want to do this the right way.’ I was like, ‘Okay, if you say, so I’m inclined to trust you there.’”
Don’t miss Boy Kills World when it drops on Lionsgate Play this December 27.

What if the end of the world began with a single signal from the stars? Prepare for a breathtaking descent into chaos and survival as War of the Worlds, the haunting reimagining of H.G. Wells’ legendary novel, streaming exclusively on Lionsgate Play.
Set in contemporary Britain and France, this modern twist on the sci-fi classic shatters the comfort of everyday life when astronomers detect a mysterious transmission from deep space — a message that confirms the existence of intelligent extraterrestrial life. The world holds its collective breath, waiting for further contact. But the response is far from peaceful.
Within days, human civilization is decimated. Alien ships take to the skies, and Earth becomes a shadow of what it once was. The survivors, scattered in desolate cities and the eerie countryside, are left to grapple with an unrelenting question — Who are these invaders and why are they determined to destroy us?
Led by Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects), Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People), and Léa Drucker (Custody), War of the Worlds assembles a stellar cast to take you through emotional highs and devastating lows. Will the few remaining pockets of humanity find a way to fight back? Or will this invasion mark the end of all we know?
Gabriel Byrne expressed his views on what appealed to him about War of the Worlds, saying, “I think it’s extremely pertinent to the world we live in today. I think that the aliens, they’re a metaphor for the unknown, the fears and terrors that are out there. I think in the films of the 1950’s, for example, there were a great many stories about unseen and unknown forces coming to threaten the world and that was indicative of a time when the world was entering a nuclear age and a very scary place. The aliens there stood in for perhaps the ‘red menace’, as it was known at that time. I think we’ve got a great deal to fear in the world that we live in today, but a lot of those fears are unnameable and incomprehensible. We can’t articulate what it is exactly, so that’s why this story. “
On how War of the Worlds differs from other alien or sci-fi shows, Daisy Edgar-Jones, “It differs in that the stories are a lot more about the relationships between the human beings in the plot. It’s very much about the nuances of interrelationships and of people changing and of survival and of sacrifice and of what happens in these situations.”
Ready to watch humanity face its greatest threat yet? Catch War of the Worlds as Season 1 is now streaming on Lionsgate Play. Mark your calendars for the succeeding Fridays, because Season 2 and Season 3 are scheduled to land on December 13 and 20, respectively!
