M is the Merry Mother’s Month of May at The Peninsula Manila

    May 10 is Mother’s Day!

M is for the million things she gave me

    O means she’s growing old

T are the tears she shed to save me

H is for her heart of purest gold

E are for her eyes, with love-light shining

R means right, and right she’ll always be

Put them all together they spell “Mother”,

A word that means the world to me.

The Peninsula Manila Recognized in Condé Nast Traveler’s Gold List 2026

The Peninsula Manila has been named to Condé Nast Traveler’s The Best Hotels and Resorts in the World: The Gold List 2026, one of the most prestigious editorial honors in global luxury travel. This is the first time The Peninsula Manila has received this international accolade. The hotel is one of only two properties in the Philippines to receive this recognition and the only hotel in the national capital included on the list.

“It is a tremendous honor for The Peninsula Manila to be named to Condé Nast Traveler’s 2026 Gold List as we approach our 50th anniversary next year,” said Kevin Tsang, Managing Director of The Peninsula Manila. “This recognition reflects the timeless elegance, history, and hospitality that has made our hotel a cherished part of life in Manila for almost 50 years.”

2025 The Lobby of The Peninsula Manila 1

The Condé Nast Traveler Gold List is a highly selective annual compilation of the world’s top hotels and resorts personally curated by the magazine’s editors. Hotels and resorts included on the Gold List are distinguished by exceptional service and staff dedication, a strong sense of character and history, memorable experiences across dining, wellness, and family hospitality, and an enduring emotional resonance.

“The Gold List represents places the editors genuinely love and confidently recommend,” Mr. Tsang added. “To be included is deeply meaningful, as it affirms the kind of experiences we strive to create every day. Experiences that are authentic, gracious, thoughtful, and grounded in a genuine sense of belonging.”

In his review of The Peninsula Manila, Condé Nast Traveler Associate Editor Matt Ortile highlights the personal connection that many Filipinos have with the property: “Almost every Manileño I know has a story to tell about Manila Pen, as we call it. The Peninsula Manila belongs to everyone, I know that. Perhaps what I feel is that I belong only to Manila Pen.”

Mr. Tsang noted, “That sense of belonging speaks to the heart of who we are. It reflects the powerful emotional connection The Peninsula has forged with generations of guests and with the city itself.

This recognition belongs entirely to our hotel team. It is a direct reflection of the professionalism, warmth, and unwavering commitment to excellence demonstrated by every member of our Manila team. I could not be prouder of what they have achieved together.”

The full list of winners will be published in the January/February 2026 print issue of Condé Nast Traveler and is live online as of Monday, December 15, on the of Condé Nast Traveler website: The Best Hotels and Resorts in Asia: The Gold List 2026.

  • CELEBRATIONS: 40 Years of Christmas Concert at The Pen

CELEBRATIONS: 40 Years of Christmas Concert at The Pen

Once a year on a late Sunday afternoon in December, something familiar and quietly magical unfolds at The Peninsula Manila. Families arrive dressed in their Sunday best. Children tug at their parents’ hands as they enter The Lobby and look up at the towering tree that has watched Manila grow for decades. Later, after musicians of a 49-piece orchestra have finished tuning their instruments, the light softens, and the city gathers for an afternoon that feels like coming home.

2025 Christmas Concert at The Pen 1

Welcome to the fortieth season of Christmas Concert at The Pen!

For forty years, Christmas Concert at The Pen has been woven into these scenes. It has welcomed generations of Manileños who return not only for the music, but for the feeling it brings. Over the decades, The Peninsula Manila has opened its doors to extraordinary Filipino

talent. Artists who first sang here as promising young performers have returned as some of the country’s most admired voices, a quiet testament to how this tradition has nurtured local talent across the years.

    image

This 40th season brings together the Manila Symphony Orchestra under Jonathan Velasco, mezzo sopranos Cris Villonco and Yanah Laurel, and the fifty-voice Ateneo Chamber Singers. Their program will weave together carols, film and Disney favorites, light opera selections, and beloved holiday pieces, including the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah.

    image 1

Kevin Tsang, Managing Director of The Peninsula Manila, reflects on this milestone with warmth. “We are delighted to have this wealth of Filipino talents at this year’s festive season concert. Year after year, these artists bring their heart and brilliance to The Lobby. Our hope is that this afternoon brings the spirit of Christmas into the hearts of our audience and becomes a joyful finale to their year.”

He adds, “The first part of the concert will feature a playful mix of Barry White, movie musicals, light opera, Disney, and a well-loved Filipino pop classic. As tradition dictates, the second part will be filled with the familiar sounds of Christmas. Aside from the “Hallelujah Chorus,” which remains as magnificent today as it did when it was first performed in 1742, we have holiday songs and orchestral pieces that will inspire joy in both first-time listeners and those who return each season.”

What makes the concert endure is the way it brings people together. Guests sing along. Strangers exchange smiles. Children hear their first live orchestra. Families who have been coming for decades whisper to one another that it still feels as uplifting as the very first time.

As The Peninsula Manila approaches its fifth decade, the 40th season of Christmas Concert at The Pen reflects a legacy shaped by and shared with the city itself: a legacy of  Filipino talent, community, and the shared joy of welcoming the season in one of Manila’s most cherished holiday traditions.

  • The Peninsula Manila Showcases Art Protís by National Artist Federico Aguilar Alcuaz

The Peninsula Manila Showcases Art Protís by National Artist Federico Aguilar Alcuaz

The Peninsula Manila is proud to present a compelling contemporary art exhibition featuring a curated selection of three never-before seen Art Protis tapestries by renowned late Philippine National Artist Federico Aguilar Alcuaz. Curated by Ricky Francisco of Fundacíon Sansó, this exhibition continues The Peninsula Manila’s long-standing tradition of engaging the community through exceptional art partnerships.

The large-scale works by the artist will be on display at The Lobby from September 2 to 30, 2025.

2025 Art in Resonance Alcuaz Spring VIII Abstract 84

This installation is the latest iteration of Art in Resonance, The Peninsula Hotels’ global contemporary arts program dedicated to supporting exceptional local and international artists, while creating deeply immersive art experiences for guests and visitors.

Originally introduced in 2019 and since then adopted as a global initiative by all Peninsula hotels, Art in Resonance promotes the rich and vibrant cultural aspects of the cities in which they reside. Art in Resonance is grounded in the recognition of art’s value for humanity, as an inclusive and universal language that crosses borders and builds connections.

    image 9

Measuring from 116 x 84 inches to 142 x 88 inches, the three Art Protis works – Spring VIII (Abstract #84), Spring XII (Abstract #123), and Filipiny (Abstract #124) – represent one of the largest tapestry series the artist has ever created.

Art Protis is a unique technique of creating unwoven art works which was invented in the 1960s by a team from the Wool Research Institute in Brno, the second biggest city of the Czech Republic. It was during a visit to Prague in 1968 that Federico Aguilar Alcuaz’s interest was caught by Art Protis. He worked with wool which came in raw sheets dyed in different colors. The wool sheets were cut and placed on top of one another like a collage and the finished layers were pressed through a machine then stitched together onto a canvas. Federico Aguilar Alcuaz’s mastery of creating a painterly abstraction with ease and pleasure using the uncommon medium of Art Protis conveyed “uncluttered playfulness” with constant fluidity.

The tapestries will be on view at The Lobby of The Peninsula Manila until September 30, 2025.

In tandem with the exhibition, The Peninsula Manila will also offer guests a special Federico Aguilar Alcuaz Art in Resonance Afternoon Tea menu inspired by the artist’s works. It will be available at The Lobby from September 2 to 30.  The Art in Resonance Afternoon Tea is available at P3,290 per set and P5,290 with a flute of Champagne (exclusive of taxes).

2025 Art in Resonance Alcuaz Afternoon Tea 1

At The Conservatory on September 6, the hotel will present its second Art in Resonance TALKS: Federico Aguilar Alcuaz Artist at Large, a Talk and Film Showing by Christian Aguilar. Highlights of the talk include a 15-minute film on the works of the National Artist, followed by a talk by his son, Christian Aguilar, on the artistic legacy of the late national artist.

Following the talk and film showing is the opening of Homage to Alcuaz, a special exhibition of over 40 paintings by young and mid-career artists honoring the national artist, including works by scholars of Fundacíon Sansó. The exhibition will be held at The Upper Lobby and will run from September 6 to 7, Saturday and Sunday.

2025 Art in Resonance National Artist Federico Aguilar Alcuaz

Seats to Art in Resonance TALKS: Federico Aguilar Alcuaz Artist at Large, a Talk and Film Showing by Christian Aguilar are complimentary and are on first-come, first-served basis. The talk will start at 2:00 pm.
