Spearheaded by Portals Organization, the sculpture’s entry in the Philippines will mark the very first Portal in the Philippines and sixth in the world, following existing locations such as the United States, United Kingdom, and where it all started – Lithuania.

As Metro Manila’s premier business and lifestyle district, BGC in Taguig City has long been home to a dynamic cultural hub, known not only for its art, infrastructure, and cultural life, but also a vibrant forward-looking spirit it aims to embody – making it an ideal environment to host Asia’s first Portal, and continuing the circle of Portals’ very goal: to connect communities around the globe and celebrate diversity through thoughtful design and engineering.

Once opened, the BGC Portal will provide a 24/7 livestream, connecting with existing Portals in Vilnius (Lithuania), Lublin (Poland), Dublin (Ireland), Philadelphia (United States), and Ipswich (United Kingdom), as well as soon launching Portal in Piauí (Brazil) and further countries opening their Portals later this year.

“The opening of our first Portal in Asia is a powerful and exciting moment for us. Bringing the Portal to BGC in Manila – a city known for genuine warmth and a deep sense of human connection – expands our vision of a world connected not by borders, but by direct human encounter. We cannot wait to welcome Filipinos into this shared global experience,” shares Benediktas Gylys, founder of Portals Organization.

“We are delighted to introduce Portals to the Philippines and, for the first time, to Asia. At BGC, we draw inspiration from experiences that bring communities together and celebrate culture and diversity. With Portals and at BGC, we hope to create a new space for connection—one that not only engages our community, but also proudly shares the vibrancy and richness of Filipino culture with the world.” shares Enrique B. Manuel Jr., Chief Operating Officer, Bonifacio Global City.

The BGC Portal will be unveiled on 5th Avenue at Bonifacio High Street, Taguig City, on January 21.

The BGC Portal was made possible with the generous support of our partners: CMC Contract Manufacturing Pte Ltd, Eurasia Marble and Granite Inc., Excell Contractors and Developers Inc., Habitus Design Group, United Neon, UnionBank, and Globe Telecom, which powers the BGC Portal with its Globe at Home connectivity.

  • One Place, Endless Combos: Inside BGC’s Newest Food Hall

One Place, Endless Combos: Inside BGC’s Newest Food Hall

Sundry Food Hall officially opened its newest branch in Bonifacio Global City with a grand opening celebration on Monday, December 15, inviting diners to experience a more elevated take on casual group dining—one where barkadas and families can share a table while ordering from multiple crowd-favorite brands in one destination.

    IMG 0677

Designed to feel like a cozy place to linger (not just a quick stop), Sundry Food Hall BGC puts the spotlight on what the brand calls its “mix and match” experience: a lineup of well-loved food and dessert concepts gathered under one roof—so groups don’t have to split up (or settle on just one cuisine) to satisfy everyone’s cravings. Guests can enjoy a wide range of offerings, from a boneless rice meal at 24 Chicken and a comforting bowl of beef noodle soup from Wann Mann, to a decadent chocolate cake from Big Al’s or a refreshing Panda Milk Tea from Coco—among many other options. The concept also carries over to delivery, where customers can order across different brands with a single delivery fee—a core convenience feature of Sundry Food Hall.

    IMG 0031

    Expanding into the New Year

Sundry Food Hall began as a cloud kitchen during the pandemic and has since expanded its footprint across Metro Manila. Today, Sundry Food Hall has seven, including the newly opened BGC branch, operational locations—España, Taft, Pasig, Commonwealth, Makati, and Parañaque—as it continues to grow its presence and bring more branches into dine-in.

Located at GSC Corporate Tower, Triangle Drive, BGC, founders and husband-and-wife team Jai Reyes and Josephine Kamiyama shared their excitement for the latest branch to open.

    IMG 0163

“Sundry Food Hall was built around how people actually eat today—especially in groups. With our BGC branch, we wanted to create a place where friends and families can sit together, mix and match their favorite brands, and enjoy the experience without compromise,” explained Reyes.

“From starting as a cloud kitchen to opening more dine-in food halls, our goal has always been to make great food more accessible and enjoyable. The BGC branch reflects how we’re elevating that experience—bringing comfort, convenience, and variety together in one space,” added Kamiyama.

    IMG 0484

At the heart of Sundry’s model is an experience built for modern eating habits: dine-in, take-out, and delivery—in one place. Sundry Food Hall describes itself as “the only food hall in the Philippines optimized for dine-in, take-out and delivery.”

The “mix and match” feature supports that promise, enabling customers to bundle orders from multiple brands—while keeping delivery streamlined. For merchant partners, Sundry Food Hall presents a smarter, more accessible path to expansion. Its plug-and-play concept dramatically lowers operating costs by removing the need for heavy capital investments, with fully equipped units ready for immediate use. This allows restaurants to enter new locations quickly and efficiently with minimal upfront expense. Some merchants even report saving up to 90% in capital costs when opening a new branch within Sundry Food Hall.

    A Little Something For Everyone

The BGC branch’s opening also highlighted a merchant lineup that includes CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice, 24 Chicken, Wann Mann, Bangkok Station, Potato Corner, Big Al’s Cookie Jar, Hearts & Bells, Merry Moo and Louie’s Buko.

    IMG 0283

To celebrate the opening, Sundry Food Hall BGC is running a First 100 Customers offer starting December 16: the first 100 customers who make any purchase will receive a Sundry Food Hall tumbler plus a free CoCo Milktea or Bangkok Station’s Mango Sticky Rice.

    IMG 0220

Moving forward, Sundry Food Hall also shared plans to expand its dine-in footprint further, with intended expansion in Alabang and Sta. Rosa, Laguna, responding to the growing demand for its popular partner brands.

“Sundry Food Hall focuses on creating spaces where people can come together over their favorite food. As we expand, we’re excited to bring that same Sundry experience to more neighborhoods, both in and beyond Metro Manila” shared Kamiyama.

OPM Takes Center Stage as BGC Rings In 2026 at NYE at the 5th copy

After an exciting year that’s overflowing with milestones and moments that continuously shape the district’s next chapter, BGC is preparing for an all-out celebration to thank everyone who has become a part of its story this year.

This year’s program reflects the momentum that BGC is in right now, and aims to express a feeling of local pride and optimism, rooted in various breakthroughs that were achieved through synergy.

As one of the most international districts in the country, BGC and the City Government of Taguig’s choice to spotlight OPM is deliberate–in a city shaped by global ideas, nothing hits harder than coming home to the sound of our own.

    NYE Guest

At the core of the celebration is a powerhouse OPM lineup engineered to electrify the city. DJ Mars Miranda, Jay-R, Dionela, G22, Parokya Ni Edgar, TJ Monterde, KZ Tandingan, and SB19 lead the night with a succession of performances that reflect the full spectrum of Filipino sound—from nostalgic and comforting to modern and genre-breaking, but all proudly local.

Joining this powerful lineup is apl.de.ap, global Filipino icon and member of The Black Eyed Peas, whose presence bridges the local and international.

As 5th Avenue transforms into a living corridor of music and lights, the night extends into a shared visual journey. With immersive light choreography and LED satellite screens across the district, the entire community is part of the moment.

Capping off the night — and the year — BGC will light up the sky with its dual-zone fireworks display. The tradition has become a familiar part of the city’s New Year’s Eve, but it still carries that collective pause — a moment where everyone looks up, takes it in, and steps into the new year together.

Since its maiden year, NYE at the 5th has become one of Metro Manila’s most anticipated events, and for good reasons. It’s one that’s known for effectively merging artistry, technology, and a shared energy that sets the tone for the year ahead. This year’s celebration takes a moment to honor the now—the victories and breakthroughs of 2025—whilst opening the door to the next chapter, not only of BGC but of the people who live, work, and play in it.

This year’s celebration is made possible with the support of partners who share BGC’s vision to  create connection and energy across the district. Globe, MG Motor, Pru Life UK, Vivo, and PepsiCo join BGC in bringing NYE at the 5th to life, shaping a celebration that feels true to the district and the people who call it home.

Upon entering, guests are warmly greeted with a spirited “Polen Polen!”—a traditional Putianese expression meaning, “You are from Putian, I am too!” This embodies the vision of the founder, Uncle Fong, who wanted to extend hospitality and invite guests on a culinary journey reflecting his hometown’s culture. From its inception 24 years ago, founder Uncle Fong designed the greeting to be just like he would welcome guests into his own home – with generous hospitality and a taste of his culture through food. This greeting serves as a tribute to Uncle Fong’s hometown, which has expanded across Asia with 104 branches in different cities, including China, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau, Taipei, and the Philippines. With 104 branches across Asia, the restaurant continues to embody the essence of Putian, China.

    Freshest Ingredients, Finest Dishes

Putien traces its roots to Putian, Fujian, renowned for Hengwa cuisine, which places a strong emphasis on abundant use of seafood. The restaurant’s commitment to quality dates back to 2000 when it opened its first outlet on Kitchener Road in Singapore. Working closely with trusted suppliers, they ensure a constant supply of Grade A ingredients, cost notwithstanding. Whether sourcing fisherfolk’s prized seaweeds, and yellow croaker fish to the farms yielding Da Hong Pao tea or the farmers’ seasonal longan, lychee, and red mushrooms, every component is carefully curated to ensure unparalleled freshness and flavor. This commitment to quality is evident in their dishes, where the original flavor of the ingredients shines through, offering a dining experience that’s both light and satisfying.

The unpretentious dishes are crafted to preserve the natural flavors of the meat, seafood, and vegetables. There is an unwavering respect for the cuisine and its accompanying ingredients, ensuring an authentic and delightful culinary experience. The restaurant remains true to its roots, offering homestyle Fujian dishes that evoke a sense of comfort and authenticity.

    Must-Try Delicacies

Navigating the culinary landscape at Putien is a delightful journey for newcomers with discerning palates. First on the list is the “Three Treasures of Fujian.” At the helm is the Fujian Red Mushroom Seafood Lor Mee, a venerable masterpiece and the cornerstone of Putien’s menu for the past 24 years. This Fujian classic receives a modern twist with its 14-ingredient braised noodle dish, simmered for six hours in a rich chicken and pork stock. Infused with the rare essence of red mushrooms from the slopes of China’s Wuyi Mountains, this dish boasts a signature red hue and an explosion of flavors.

Another staple, the ‘100-Second’ Stewed Yellow Croaker, showcases the true essence of freshness. Boiled to precision for exactly 100 seconds, preserving the true freshness of the fish. The yellow croaker from imported from Ningde Fujian is then delicately seasoned with onions, ginger, Fujian aged wine, and Puning bean sauce, resulting in a symphony of delicate flavors.

And the comforting Bian Rou Soup, on the other hand, is yet another favorite among patrons. This slightly sour soup boasts dumplings filled with succulent meat, enveloped in wrappers pounded 1,200 times to achieve a silky softness akin to paper-thin perfection.

    Other Must-Tries

For those seeking to delve deeper, Putien’s top 10 signature dishes offer a kaleidoscope of delectable options. Sample the Seaweed & Mini Shrimps Dressed in Sauce, featuring the finest Fujian seaweed said to be the crème dela crème of seaweeds. Or be surprised by the Stir-Fried Yam, where the centermost part of the Ping Nang Yu yam variety from Thailand, and undergoes a meticulous three-step cooking process for unparalleled texture. Craving a classic with a twist? The Sweet and Sour Pork receives a delightful upgrade with the addition of lychee, balancing sweet and tart notes in perfect harmony. It uses only lean meat fried in a consistent oil temperature to ensure that it is tender and juicy on the inside.

If your culinary compass seeks uncharted territory, consider the Crispy Oysters (a famous variety in Putian), cooked in leeks and butter with a light, handmade tapioca flour breading. The Mazu Mee Sua is said to symbolize longevity and is always present during Holiday meals and special celebrations. The Braised Pig Intestine, meticulously cleaned in water and wine for three hours and artistically folded using one piece of chopstick, before braising in 12 traditional fragrant herbs and spices, offers a surprisingly rewarding experience.

The Deep Fried Pork Trotters with Salt & Pepper showcase the magic of slow braising for three hours, followed by a quick dip fried for 50 seconds in 250 degrees of hot oil for melt-in-your-mouth collagen goodness. Young diners will be captivated by the Deep-Fried Prawns with Cereal, where plump prawns hide under a delightful, slightly sweet, crunchy coating (made from imported cereal mixed with milk powder) that gives off a slightly sweet kick. For a vegetarian option, the Braised Bean Curd with Chinese Cabbage offers a symphony of savory and flavorful notes, thanks to homemade tofu and slow-simmered cabbage. It is made with yellow core Chinese cabbage and homemade silky tofu that are simmered for 8 hours, then mixed with dried shrimps, clams, ginger, and fried garlic.  These flavors are absorbed by the spongey tofu and guarantee to give off an explosion of flavors.

Conclude your culinary journey with the Chilled Loquat in Herbal Jelly, a refreshing finale that combines the sweetness of loquat fruit with the coolness of mint and herbal jelly.

Putien’s culinary experience extends beyond individual plates. Their set meals, steeped in Fujian culture and core values, offer a curated exploration of the region’s unique flavors and cooking techniques. Gather your loved ones and embark on an unforgettable culinary adventure at Putien, where every bite promises a journey into the heart and soul of Fujian cuisine.

Putien: Where Authenticity and Michelin-Star Flavor Collide

Stepping into Putien is akin to embarking on a culinary journey to the heart of Fujian. Here, “mastering authentic Fujian cuisine with quality ingredients” isn’t just a motto, it’s a living testament to Uncle Fong’s vision that propelled Putien to become a globally celebrated Chinese restaurant chain.

From its humble beginnings to its current status as a Michelin-starred culinary powerhouse, Putien continues to redefine the boundaries its cuisine. The original Kitchener Road outlet holds onto its coveted one Michelin Star for seven consecutive years (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023), alongside an impressive collection of awards: Singapore’s Prestige Brand and Service Star recognitions in 2009, the Epicurean Star Award in 2016, and Tasty Singapore Awards in 2010.
