ASUS bolsters support to Filipino artisans, culminates Zarah Juan collaboration

ASUS put Filipino craftsmanship at the forefront during the recently ended Incredible Transformation: Future-ready Business Management Workshop for Filipino Artisans. After a widely successful ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED launch last year, the ASUS and Zarah Juan collaboration culminated through specialized digital literacy training and laptop donation turnover to seven Filipino artisan communities from different parts of the Philippines. Artisans from Lake Sebu, Davao City, Isabela Province, Paete, Bulacan, and Marikina City gathered in Ortigas Center, Pasig City, on March 9, 2023. Each community received an ASUS laptop to support them in their business transformation and digitize their day-to-day business transactions.

The Zarah Juan Zen Tote is the perfect ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED accessory.

In September 2022, ASUS partnered with Filipino social entrepreneur and fashion accessory designer Zarah Juan to design and create a limited edition sustainable locally-made bag to launch the world’s lightest 13.3-inch 2.8K OLED laptop ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED. The Zarah Juan Zen Tote materializes ASUS’ thrust towards human-centric design thinking. Made by artisan communities in the country and of locally available materials, the Zen Tote depicts the perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality — the perfect accessory with the Zenbook S 13 OLED.

The Zarah Juan brand is the designer’s solution for single-use bags. Her journey as a designer and an entrepreneur led her to strengthen the livelihood of Filipino artisans. It has now evolved into a brand known for its #ProudLocal pieces made by Filipinos from different parts of the country. Aside from environmental sustainability, Zarah Juan pushes for social sustainability and upholds cultural continuity by showcasing Filipino heritage.

ASUS Philippines Product Marketing Lead- Consumer PC Rachelle Lozares, ASUS Philippines Country Manager George Su, Zarah Juan President Christian Juan, Zarah Juan Creative Director Zarah Juan, and ASUS Philippines Marketing Manager Seiko Deura turned over seven laptops to the seven Filipino artisan communities on March 9, 2023.

ASUS Philippines Country Manager George Su shared, “Our philosophy has always been innovation that enhances users’ way of life. We hope the ASUS Vivobook 13 Slate OLED laptops our Filipino artisans received will empower them to work toward incredible success and gear them up for the international export stage. We believe they are vital in preserving and expanding the vibrant Filipino culture.”

“The ASUS and Zarah Juan partnership is one of a kind because there is an aligned vision to dig deeper into how we can work together in empowering our artisans. We are thankful to ASUS for providing them the right tools they need to be more competitive and ready to face the global market”, Zarah Juan Creative Director Zarah Juan also added.

Filipino artisans participated in a whole-day workshop to learn how technology can make their livelihood more efficient, faster, and all-in-all. They got to familiarize themselves with creating data sheets and encoding business information such as product costing, materials inventory, and admin forms, to name a few. REVIEW: The ASUS Vivobook 16 Boasts a Bigger Display for Better Productivity & Exceptional Entertainment

With all the consumable video content out there and the many tools we now have at our disposal through our devices, size really matters when it comes to our laptop screens. That’s why it’s only ideal to seek a laptop that boasts a sizable screen on top of power and performance. Fortunately, you no longer have to break the bank for a display upgrade!

Enter the Vivobook 16, from the latest series of 16-inch laptops released by the multinational tech brand ASUS. With a powerful interior paired with a generous 16:10 display, this new device is your next budget-friendly companion for professional work, school work, content creation, or for your entertainment needs.

ASUS has given us a chance to try the ASUS Vivobook 16 (X1605) in Indie Black color. Here are our thoughts about this new 16-inch laptop.

Out of the box

Right out of the box, the Vivobook 16’s size stands out, but it surprised me because it is lighter than I anticipated. Its black color is pretty standard paired with a plastic chassis, while the design incorporates some slanting lines which remind me of construction work signals, giving me the impression that the Vivobook 16 gets the work done.

Popping it open, the laptop has a full keyboard, a generous touchpad space, and of course, a 16-inch, 16:10 screen to boot! Booting it up, I could feel like I’m reminded of a standard home computer with plenty of screen space to work with and a keyboard that isn’t cramped.

The device also has a 180-degree hinge that offers more flexibility and easier adjustments, so it wouldn’t have a problem fitting right in on your workspace. In addition to this, the laptop also sports a full array of I/O ports for convenient connectivity.

Do more with a taller display

The Vivobook 16 offers a more intuitive experience with its 16-inch LCD wide-view NanoEdge display with an 86% screen-to-body ratio. It has decent brightness with TÜV Rheinland low blue-light certification for added eye protection, and I didn’t experience glare issues when using the device. While the LCD screen may not be as visually striking as an OLED variant, this laptop still delivers a good display, given its size paired with an affordable price point.

After all, what really makes this your next ideal work and entertainment companion is the screen’s 16:10 aspect ratio (1920×1200 resolution IPS panel). Compared to the typical 16:9 display, with this device, streaming is more immersive; multitasking is more effortless; viewing documents is more convenient; and applications with crammed UIs will appear tidier, allowing you to focus on what’s important to the task at hand.

Thanks to the 180-degree hinge, you can also easily share this generous screen when working face-to-face with your collaborators.

No compromising on power and performance

Under the hood, the Vivobook 16 is also competitive when it comes to power and performance. This laptop is powered by up to a 12th Gen Intel Core i7-1255U processor. It supports up to 8GB DDR4 RAM and a 512GB PCIE 3.0 SSD and runs on the Windows 11 Home OS.

The Vivobook 16 runs without a hitch when it comes to doing productivity tasks. It ran smoothly as I typed documents and multitasked on the web with over ten open tabs.

Casual gamers can also use this laptop for their gaming. I tried playing Valorant with the Vivobook 16, and I didn’t encounter any frame drops, even with high settings. I also ran tests with our test unit from ASUS, which runs on an Intel Core i5-1235U Processor:

Cinebench R23 – 7,403 (Multicore); 694 (Single Core)
Geekbench 6 – 1193 (Single-Core); 3888 (Multi-Core)
CPU-Z – 3,110.1 (Multi-Thread); 378.5 (Single Thread)

As for the device’s temperature, the Vivobook 16 kept its cool even after two hours of continuous use. There wasn’t any significant rise in its temperature even when at play, thanks to its plastic chassis and the ASUS IceCool cooling system with upgraded 8mm and 6mm dual heat pipes and an IceBlade fan. An effective heat dissipation system that is also quiet when in use.

Power is also plenty with the Vivobook 16, which sports a 70Wh battery. Testing its capacity, the battery decreased by 20% to 25% for every hour of doing productivity tasks with 45% brightness (which I found optimal in a room with ample lighting). Streaming videos also yielded similar results, as I was able to watch a 2-hour movie with 70% volume, and the battery went down by 40%. When gaming, the battery was deducted 20% for every 30 minutes of gameplay.

When it comes to charging, I plugged in the Vivobook 16 while in Sleep mode, and the battery went up from 3% to 50% in the first 30 minutes and was full after waiting another hour and 15 minutes. When at work, the laptop juiced up by about 30% in the first 30 minutes and was fully charged after about 2 hours.

Work is a breeze with an ergonomic keyboard, a spacious trackpad, & Microsoft Office

The Vivobook 16 doesn’t stop with just the display and performance because your productivity will get a further boost with its ErgoSense keyboard that feels comfortable and satisfying to type with.

Clicking the buttons of the laptop’s full-sized keyboard produces minimal sound and feels just right to the touch, thanks to its dished keycaps and fine-tuned spacings for optimized key travel. When turned on, the keyboard’s backlight has three brightness levels to blend with different working environments.

As for the trackpad, it is also quite large, so if you opt to use it more often over a mouse, you can expect seamless use as you click, scroll, and swipe across your tasks. And to complete what you need to get the work done, the Vivobook 16 also comes with a free lifetime license to Office 2021 Home & Student.

Strong speakers and clearer conference calls

The audio on the Vivobook 16 is also quite impressive, with the sound that saves you from needing separate speakers. The laptop’s audio output is loud enough to be heard across a spacious living room, even at just 70% volume.

Audio is also enhanced for your conference calls through ASUS’ AI noise-canceling technology. This technology filters out ambient noise when you speak on the microphone, and it reduces background noise when producing the audio from the other end of the call, ensuring clear audio for both ends of the call.

Stepping up in safety and connectivity

The laptop also ups its safety and security alongside its convenience in connectivity. Aside from the webcam’s privacy shield instantly protecting you from your camera with a simple sliding button, the Vivobook 16 also shields you from today’s unseen threats with the ASUS Antibacterial Guard.

Considering the world-shifting pandemic in the last few years, it’s only natural for devices to adapt in response. With the ASUS Antibacterial Guard, the laptop’s special surface kills 99% of bacteria over a 24-hour period, keeping the device clean and sanitary even on a micro-level.

Connectivity is another key factor when picking your device. Good thing the Vivobook 16 covers your connectivity needs be it online or via hardware. This laptop is equipped with the speed of WiFi 6 and is made even better with the ASUS WiFi Master technology, bringing the user fast and stable connections.

This device also caters to different cross-device connections with a full array of Input/Output ports. On the left side of the device, you will find a USB 2.0 port alongside indicator lights, while lined up on the right are two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A ports, one USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port, an HDMI port, an Audio Combo Jack, and a round charging port.

Conclusion

The Vivobook 16 is the laptop perfect for the practical. Whether you’re a professional or a student, this device can cater to your needs from both the software and hardware end. Plus, it also has some added touches with the comfort, convenience, and safety of the user in mind. With the laptop’s 16-inch, 16:10 display, you also have an extra boost of productivity whether you’re multitasking or focused on one UI-packed application. And even with its price range that leans towards the affordable, the Vivobook 16 has everything you need to get the job done.

The ASUS Vivobook 16 is now available at ASUS authorized stores with a starting price of P32,995.

Here’s Your Lifestyle Guide to Choosing the Right 16-inch Laptop

Choosing the right laptop that caters to one’s needs and lifestyle may be a daunting task with many choices available in the market. More often than not, Filipinos must choose between portability over performance, performance over a better display, or a better display over portability. What if there’s a bigger and better laptop that balances users’ needs without compromising anything?

Enter the latest ASUS Vivobook and Zenbook series – a wide range of 16-inch devices ideal for school, work, entertainment, or content creation. These compact and powerful laptops are designed to accommodate a variety of Filipino lifestyles, featuring the best specs and unique features for optimum productivity and creativity.

Choose OLED as the gold standard

ASUS brings the beauty of an OLED display to its 16-inch laptops providing users a viewing experience that’s almost true to life. With a world-leading 3.2K 120Hz 16:10 OLED display, images on ASUS Vivobook Pro 16 OLED (K6602) are vibrant and popping. With the bigger screen real estate, designers and artists can see every line and shade of their drafts. Color-grade and color-match like the pros, as Vivobook Pro 16 OLED has a cinema-grade 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and Pantone-validated, ensuring supremely accurate colors – may it be in a dark editing room or a brightly-lit café. For those who love post-processing videos, having an OLED display on an editing device only means flicker-less and smooth motions, especially in those fast-paced scenes.

Multitasking is also more efficient as Vivobook Pro 16 OLED features up to 12^th Generation Intel Core i7-12700H CPU, 16 GB RAM, up to 1 TB PCIe SSD, and up to a studio-grade of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU. Aside from having a bigger display, ASUS engineered Creator-centric features to amplify their creative workflow. The MUX Switch on Vivobook Pro 16 OLED allows reduced latency and increased performance during 3D works. This feature also comes in handy when creators enjoy fast-paced gaming during break time. The ASUS Dial on ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X OLED (UX7602) and the ASUS DialPad on ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X OLED (N7601) give creators a more ergonomic and streamlined way to work. This rotary control lets them fully control parameter adjustments in select Adobe apps. These 16-inch ASUS Creator laptops also come with a free three-month subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud.

Choose the perfect balance between performance and design

ASUS Launches Laptop with a Foldable Screen: Introducing the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED

ASUS announced its groundbreaking Zenbook 17 Fold OLED (UX9702), the world’s first 17.3-inch foldable OLED laptop. This ultra-compact and light 12.5-inch Foldable OLED laptop unfolds into a versatile 17.3-inch device with six modes, pushing the boundaries of innovation today. Redefining work and entertainment user experiences, this futuristic device packs a 12^th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, Intel Iris Xe graphics, 16 GB RAM, and a 1 TB PCIe SSD. Breaking many technological glass ceilings, Zenbook 17 Fold OLED has received multiple accolades, including the prestigious iF Design, Red Dot Design Awards, and TIME Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2022.

Unfold the incredible

This groundbreaking foldable laptop offers users two sizes of OLED display in one device: a large 4:3 17.3-inch 2.5K NanoEdge touchscreen that folds in the middle to create two seamless 3:2 12.5-inch 1920 by 1280 displays. When folded fully closed along the precision-engineered 180-degree hinge, it’s an ultra-compact and portable 12.5-inch device. Users can choose from Zenbook 17 Fold OLED’s multiple versatile usage modes, namely the Desktop, Laptop (with Bluetooth keyboard), Laptop (with virtual keyboard), Tablet, Reader, and Extended.

In Desktop mode, the unfolded 17.3-inch screen — propped up in landscape orientation using the built-in faux leather kickstand — can be used with the ASUS ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard and touchpad attached wirelessly to create a powerful large-screen PC. This allows for all-day, non-stop productivity in the office or at home.

For Laptop mode (with Bluetooth keyboard), the keyboard attaches magnetically when placed on the lower half of the folded display. Alternatively, in Laptop mode (with virtual keyboard), the lower display can be turned into a virtual on-screen keyboard. These modes are perfect for on-the-go users who want a device they can easily clutch from one meeting to the next.

Tablet mode allows users to exploit the full touch capabilities of the fully opened 17.3-inch touchscreen, ideal for team collaboration and presenting big ideas. Reader mode — with the hinge aligned vertically — turns Zenbook 17 Fold OLED into the perfect reading device for that much-needed alone time studying or reading e-books.

Finally, in Extended mode, propped up in portrait orientation, the folded two 12.5-inch screens are perfect for users to scroll seamlessly on the upper and lower displays. Thus, Zenbook 17 Fold OLED can be connected to an external monitor via one of the two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports.

In each mode, the easy-to-use window management tools — such as Mode Switcher — in the ScreenXpert 3 app allow multiple split-display configurations and flexible app layouts for enhanced productivity. Users can seamlessly transition to each mode as its innovative hinge is engineered with ultimate durability. It is tested to withstand over 30,000 open-and-close cycles for total peace of mind.

Zenbook 17 Fold OLED also comes with a full-size ASUS ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard and touchpad to support multiple user modes, providing a brand-new typing experience. The Bluetooth keyboard has a desktop-grade 19.05 mm key pitch and a long 1.4 mm travel on the dished mechanical keys, ensuring comfortable and accurate typing. The ErgoSense touchpad has a new silky-smooth surface for easy navigation, protected by a durable anti-fingerprint coating.
