  • Spotify’s Creator Milestone Award Reflects Global Recognition of Filipino Talent

Spotify’s Creator Milestone Award Reflects Global Recognition of Filipino Talent

Podcasting in the Philippines is entering a new phase – one defined not by viral spikes but by sustained audience growth, meaningful fan communities, and creator-owned brands built for the long term.

This year, The KoolPals and Dear MOR received Spotify’s Creator Milestone Award, a global recognition program honoring their journey and performance. Evaluated quarterly, the global award recognizes the shows that build consistent, returning audiences over time. Other podcasts recognized by the program include Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett and Critical Role.

“Podcasting in the Philippines is maturing,” says Carl Zuzarte, Head of Studios at Spotify Southeast Asia. “Success today isn’t about a one-off spike at launch, it’s about building a show that audiences choose to return to week after week. We’re seeing creators expand their formats on Spotify while staying true to their communities. By providing the right insights and support, these shows can grow into long-term creative businesses.”

The KoolPals Spotifys Creator Milestone Award

For The KoolPals, longevity comes from staying deeply connected with their audience and turning the podcast into a shared experience. “We really listen to our community and try to bring their ideas into the show,” says James Caraan. “We keep the engagement alive through both videos, online interactions and live recordings, so the podcast becomes more than a show but an experience. At the same time, our continuous effort to improve the show never stops.”

Over six years, what began as barkadahan-style banter has grown into something bigger than a comedy show. Listeners return not just for the jokes, but for the community built between hosts and fans. The familiarity of their voices has become part of the weekly routine of almost one million followers.

Dear MOR Spotifys Creator Milestone Award

For Dear MOR, longevity takes a different form. As one of the country’s most enduring advice- driven formats, the show has become a staple in listeners’ daily routines. That steady presence, especially for fans sharing deeply personal stories, is what keeps them coming back.

“Consistency to us is our commitment to not only provide quality episodes but also to ensure stories that were shared with us are handled with care. Dear MOR is nothing without the stories. Consistency in honoring their stories is what keeps us going,” says Mark Marcos, Dear MOR producer.

Spotify’s investment in the ecosystem extends beyond recognition. Earlier this year in Cebu, The Pod Network and Cebu Creators Circle partnered with Spotify to host one of the city’s first podcast-focused workshops, part of ongoing efforts to support creator growth beyond Metro Manila.

As the Philippine podcast ecosystem strengthens, loyal audiences are emerging as the foundation for opportunities, from brand partnerships to live experiences and other creator-led ventures beyond on-platform content. For example, The KoolPals brought this to life with their sold-out Rock ‘N LOL Joketober Fest 2025, packing the house with over 1,200 fans for a night of non-stop laughter.

“The ambition we’re seeing across the Philippines isn’t just to launch a podcast, it’s to build something that lasts,” adds Zuzarte. For more information, check out updates on For The Record: Podcasts.

Leading with change: Robinsons Department Store empowers women and allies

Women deserve to take up space and lead to bring positive change to every person they meet and the communities they serve. They are not just the light of our homes, but also the steadfast pillars of our society.

This is what Robinsons Department Store’s #Women2026: Ladies Who Lead Forum aimed to showcase. Last March 7, 2026, Robinsons gathered women leaders from different sectors to open up conversations about how everyday practices and policies can excel and limit women’s opportunities. Plus, how allies, including men, could play a supportive role in creating a more inclusive environment for everyone.

    KV 2

The event was filled with inspiring lessons for women and allies, such as:

Change happens when we all work together

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte gave guests an overview of the status of women’s rights in the Philippines. While some progress has been made in pushing policies that provide a safe space and opportunities, there’s still a lot of work to do. “It’s not easy, but we will work hard to make these policies happen,” Belmonte said.

Likewise, Department of Justice Undersecretary Margarita Gutierrez highlighted the existing gaps in protecting women, emphasizing that societal reform is a joint effort. “If we want real change for women and girls, it will come when the government is serious about enforcement. The approach should be the whole nation working together, not individual efforts,” she said.

    KV 3

You have the power to transform lives

Creativity and ingenuity go hand in hand. When done right, it can transform the lives of people. This is what Belo Essentials Managing Director Cristalle Belo-Pitt wanted to achieve when she started helping her mom, Dr. Vicki Belo, in creating a product line that brings their dermatological services closer to more people. For the Belos, making their beauty products accessible gives women the tools to take care of herself better. “When you look after yourself, you can take care of a whole barangay,” Belo-Pitt said.

Halia CEO and Founder Alexa Jocom had a similar mindset when she first started her sanitary pad brand. Disappointed with the plasticky quality of other brands, Jocom set out to create organic, biodegradable pads that are great for periods, as well as taking care of the environment. Another environmental advocate is Billie Dumaliang, Masungi Georeserve Director for Advocacy and Board Trustee. She was exposed to nature preservation and rehabilitation at a young age, watching how Masungi went from a barren forest to the lush green area that many know today.

Belo-Pitt, Jocom, and Dumaliang are proof that women have the power to take initiative and bring about the change people need in the world.

    KV 1

From improving daily life to enacting long-term policies, the message is clear: when women are empowered, they can empower everyone. This Women’s Month, Robinsons Department Store hopes to inspire Filipinos with the lessons from #Women2026: Ladies Who Lead Forum.

As a month-long treat, shoppers can enjoy up to 70% off on ladies’ apparel, accessories, and beauty products in all branches of Robinsons Department Store. Enjoy treats and discover offers from Nourish Gourmet Finds, Capellan’s Deli Food Products, G Fuentes Food Processing, Heredar, Stamps & Patterns, and Project Resin. during the Women’s Bazaar at Robinsons Galleria from March 11-15. On Women’s Wednesdays (all Wednesdays of March), Go Rewards members can get an additional 10% off with a minimum P2,000 purchase from 12nn to 3pm.

  • Colleen Hoover’s ‘Reminders of Him’ Film Adaptation Now Showing in Philippine Cinemas

Colleen Hoover’s ‘Reminders of Him’ Film Adaptation Now Showing in Philippine Cinemas

A Beloved Colleen Hoover Story Reaches the Big Screen

Fans of emotional storytelling have something special to look forward to. Reminders of Him, the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s #1 New York Times bestselling novel, is now showing in Philippine cinemas.

    Ledger Diem Grace

The moving drama stars Maika Monroe, Tyriq Withers, Lauren Graham, and Rudy Pankow, bringing Hoover’s unforgettable characters to life in a story filled with heartbreak, healing, and the hope for redemption.

At its heart, Reminders of Him explores themes of motherhood, forgiveness, and the enduring strength of love, making it one of the author’s most poignant stories to reach the big screen.

A Female-Led Vision Behind the Film

Guiding the project is director Vanessa Caswill, who leads a remarkable all-female filmmaking team that carefully translated Hoover’s deeply emotional novel into a cinematic experience.

For Hoover, Caswill’s creative vision stood out from the very beginning.

“Vanessa had such a clear vision from the start,” Hoover says. “She understood the exact tone and feel I was hoping the film would have. She approached the film as an artist fully immersed in every detail. Watching her shape the story with that level of intention was incredible.”

Caswill’s thoughtful approach ensures the film captures the delicate emotional balance that readers loved in the book.

    Diem Ledger

Turning a Bestseller into a Screenplay

The screenplay is written by Lauren Levine, who collaborated closely with Hoover throughout the adaptation process. Levine was particularly drawn to Caswill’s unique storytelling style and visual sensibility.

“Vanessa brings both poetry and precision to her work. Her use of color and light, and the way she collaborates with actors, gives every frame a sense of intimacy. She is European, telling a deeply American story, and that perspective adds dimension without creating distance. The material demands restraint, and Vanessa approached it with such honesty that the film never loses its balance.”

Levine also emphasizes the importance of maintaining emotional authenticity while adapting such powerful material for film.

    Watch the Trailer

Get a glimpse of the emotional journey by watching the trailer:

A Story of Loss, Redemption, and Second Chances

Reminders of Him begins with a life-altering tragedy.

Kenna Rowan (Maika Monroe) is sent to prison after a devastating accident involving her boyfriend. After serving her sentence, she returns to her hometown in Wyoming seven years later determined to rebuild her life.

But her greatest wish remains uncertain—meeting the daughter she has never seen.

Kenna’s child, Diem, is being raised by her paternal grandparents Grace (Lauren Graham) and Patrick (Bradley Whitford). Their grief and resentment create a painful barrier between Kenna and the life she hopes to reclaim.

Amid the tension, Kenna finds unexpected understanding in Ledger Ward (Tyriq Withers), a former NFL player who now works as a bartender. As their connection grows, Kenna begins to believe that healing—and possibly love—may still be within reach.

Yet the path toward forgiveness is far from easy.

    ROH Kenna

A Creative Team That Immediately Connected

Producer Gina Matthews joined the project after Universal Pictures secured the film adaptation. She recalls how quickly the team found common ground while discussing the story.

“I had a great meeting with Vanessa, Colleen and Lauren, and everything aligned very quickly,” Matthews says. “What stood out was the cohesion of the group. It was a female-led team at every level, working from a shared understanding of the material.”

This creative alignment helped shape a film that remains faithful to the emotional core of Hoover’s novel.

    Diem Kenna

Capturing the Heart of Colleen Hoover’s Writing

For Caswill, adapting Hoover’s work was both exciting and challenging. Known for her ability to balance emotional depth with subtle humor, Hoover’s writing required careful handling on screen.

“One of the things I find most special about Colleen’s writing is that, even when she is dealing with very painful material, there is always a dry wit running through it,” Caswill says.

“With a story this emotional, that balance matters. It cannot become relentlessly heavy, but it also cannot soften the weight of what these characters are going through. We were always aiming for that space in between.”

Caswill adds that staying true to the spirit of the novel guided the entire filmmaking process.

“My instinct was to stay faithful to the book and trust that the visual language would come naturally from the material. If I could capture the heart of the story honestly, I was confident the film would find its own voice.”

IU and Byeon Wooseok Star in New K-Drama “Perfect Crown,” Premiering April 10 on Disney+

K-drama fans have a delightful new series to anticipate this spring. IU and Byeon Wooseok, two of South Korea’s most popular stars, are set to appear together for the first time in the romantic comedy Perfect Crown, premiering April 10 exclusively on Disney+.

Blending lighthearted romance with palace intrigue, the upcoming series follows an unlikely partnership that begins as a strategic decision—but soon becomes far more complicated.

A Strategic Marriage with Unexpected Consequences

Perfect Crown centers on Grand Prince I-AN, the nation’s most beloved royal figure. Despite his popularity, the prince becomes entangled in a growing power struggle within the royal family. With expectations mounting for him to marry, he forms an unusual agreement.

To ease political pressure, I-AN enters a marriage of convenience with Huiju, the intelligent heir to one of Korea’s most powerful conglomerates.

Initially, the arrangement is purely practical. Both parties stand to benefit from the alliance. Yet as they work closely together to navigate public expectations, royal tensions, and personal ambitions, their carefully planned partnership begins to shift. Feelings develop, misunderstandings arise, and the situation proves far more unpredictable than either expected.

IU and Byeon Wooseok Lead the Cast

In the series, IU portrays Huiju, a determined business heiress poised to inherit one of Korea’s largest conglomerates. Known for her standout roles in When Life Gives You Tangerines and the critically acclaimed drama My Mister, IU brings a mix of strength and warmth to the character.

Opposite her, Byeon Wooseok takes on the role of Grand Prince I-AN, a charismatic royal navigating family politics and public scrutiny. The actor gained international attention through projects such as Lovely Runner and Strong Girl Nam-soon, making his casting in this romantic comedy highly anticipated.

Together, the pair promises an engaging on-screen dynamic that blends humor, charm, and emotional depth.

    From Acclaimed Creative Talent

Perfect Crown is directed by Park Joonhwa, the filmmaker behind popular series such as Alchemy of Souls and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim. His work is known for combining visually appealing storytelling with memorable character-driven moments.

The drama is written by Yoo Jiwon, whose script balances romance, comedy, and palace intrigue.

Part of Disney+’s Growing Korean Content Lineup

The upcoming series joins Disney+’s expanding collection of Korean and Asia-Pacific titles scheduled for release in 2026.

Viewers can also look forward to several highly anticipated productions, including A Shop For Killers Season 2, Made In Korea Season 2, Portraits of Delusion (working title) starring Suzy and Kim Seonho, and The Remarried Empress, featuring Shin Mina, Ju Jihoon, Lee Jongsuk, and Lee Seyoung.

These releases highlight Disney+’s continued investment in compelling Korean storytelling for audiences worldwide.
