Xiaomi Launches Xiaomi 13 Series in the Philippines with Leica-powered Cameras

Xiaomi collaborated with Leica, a prestigious camera and optics manufacturer, to provide users with an enhanced smartphone photography experience. The Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro are flagship models with Leica professional optical lenses, advanced software capabilities, and the latest Snapdragon® 8 Gen 2 and Surge battery management system for powerful performance. At the local launch held on March 1st at the Ayala Museum, Xiaomi Philippines executives announced that Manila-based Xiaomi fans can pre-order the latest flagship phones at discounted prices from March 3rd to March 10th, 2023.

Master-level photography

The Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro have a Master-Level photography system with Leica co-engineered cameras. The camera system’s hardware and image quality to UI/UX design have been created in collaboration with Leica to deliver a pro-grade smartphone photography experience. Both models feature triple cameras equipped with Leica optical lenses.

Xiaomi 13 Pro boasts a Leica Vario-Summicron camera system with focal lengths ranging from 14mm to 75mm. It has a 23mm wide-angle main camera with a 1-inch IMX989 sensor, a 75mm floating telephoto camera, and a 14mm ultra-wide-angle camera. The IMX989 sensor is the largest ever used in a smartphone, and the 75mm telephoto lens uses a floating lens design with DSLR-level internal focusing technology. Xiaomi 13 has an optical zoom range of 0.6x to 3.2x and features a 75mm telephoto lens.

Alessandra De Rossi and Empoy Marquez Reunite for New Amazon Original Movie ‘Walang KaParis’

Prime Video has released the teaser key art for the new Amazon Original Movie Walang KaParis, a romantic drama which reunites the breakout tandem of Alessandra De Rossi and Empoy Marquez, popularly known as Alempoy. Walang KaParis is helmed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, the director of Kita Kita (I See You), which catapulted the pair to fame in 2017. Viewers will be able to stream the film exclusively on Prime Video starting March 23 in 240 countries and territories worldwide, alongside Kita Kita (I See You).

Walang KaParis revolves around Jojo (Empoy Marquez), a Filipino artist in Paris who has had many lovers, but constantly finds himself desperate to fill the chasm in his life occupied by the mysterious muse of his paintings. For years, his heart is held captive by a woman with no name and no history. Artifract Showcased the Newest NFT Collection of Sanso, Alcuaz, and Imao in a Private Auction

Artifract, the very first Fine Arts NFT Company in Southeast Asia, showcased the newest NFT collection of Juvenal Sansó, Federico Aguilar Alcuaz, and Abdulmari Asia Imao last February 9, 2023 held at the Unionbank Plaza, Meralco Avenue, Pasig City.

Being the forerunner in fine arts NFT, Artifract allows art collectors to own a piece of archival and historical fine art pieces, while carefully hand-holding art estates, museums, and private collections into a secure, blockchain-based, and worry-free future.

The event hosted a private auction and was participated by some of the country’s influential millennial entrepreneurs. It has sold out, selling off the premium NFT tiles of Juvenal Sansó’s Euphoric Abundance, Abdulmari Asia Imao’s Sarimanok Series, and Federico Aguilar Alcuaz’s Manila Bay Sunset to various art collectors.

During the auction proper, Mr. Jack Teotico, Chairman and Managing Director of Galerie Joaquin Group, expressed his support and gratitude to Artifract, and gave an insightful story behind the masterpiece of Federico Aguilar Alcuaz’s Manila Bay Sunset.

“It has been a great honor for us to be partnered with Artifract since our first project, featuring the NFT collections of Juvenal Sansò,” Mr. Jack Teotico said in his speech.

“What makes Manila Bay Sunset interesting is that it’s one of the very few paintings of Manila Bay that is in Red. Federico Aguilar Alcuaz was able to capture the intensity, the romance, and the passion of the Manila Bay Sunset,” he added.

It was then followed by a heartwarming speech done by Mr. Diego Gabriel I. Imao, who is currently an Architectural Designer for Physical and Virtual Spaces, and the grandson of the country’s first Muslim National Artist for Visual Arts, Abdulmari Asia Imao, to voice his gratitude to the Artifract team, and gave an inspiring story behind the Sarimanok Series masterpiece of his grandfather.

Mr. Ricky Francisco, Director of Fundacion Sansò, a non-profit organization that exhibits the works of globally famous painter Juvenal Sanso, also shared an inspiring story behind the Euphoric Abundance masterpiece by Juvenal Sansò. His insights made it more interesting for the auctioneers to win the premium tiles of Sansò’s NFT art piece.

Indeed, the event last February 9 was a success as it received a warm welcome from several art collectors, influential entrepreneurs, and estate partners, learning the future of modern-day art collecting brought by Artifract.

Recently, at Art Fair Philippines, Artifract, in partnership with Globe Platinum, featured the Sarimanok Series masterpiece by Abdulmari Asia Imao, the country’s First Muslim National Artist for Visual Arts.

This is available in Original Stuffed Crust, Ultimate Cheesy Bites, and Melty Cheese Crust.

In addition, Pizza Hut has unveiled two new pasta options, both cooked en papillote for enhanced flavor and aroma, starting with the new Shrimp Arrabbiata Pasta. It is made with ziti, cooked al dente and topped with tomato sauce, chili flakes, black olives, shrimps, parmesan cheese, and parsley, and is priced at P239.

There is also the new Shrimp A la King Spaghetti, which is made with spaghetti cooked al dente and topped with cream, red and green bell pepper, shrimps, butter, parmesan cheese, and parsley. It’s also priced at P239.

If you’re going meat-free this Lenten season, why not add some fresh greens to your meals? For this, there is the new Shrimp Spring Roll Salad, which is made with cucumber, romaine lettuce, vermicelli noodles, and shrimps, all wrapped in rice paper, and comes with sesame dressing. Google Doodle honors pioneer Filipina writer Paz Marquez-Benitez on her 129th birthday

On March 3, Google celebrates legendary Filipina writer Paz Marquez-Benitez on her 129th birthday with her very own Google Doodle, in honor of her pioneering work in literature.

Marquez-Benitez, a renowned Filipino author, is famous for her work Dead Stars, the first-ever modern short story in English from the Philippines. The Doodle features an illustration of Marquez-Benitez set against a field of shining stars, calling back to the title of the short story.

Framed as a somber and melancholic love story of the engaged lawyer Alfredo Salazar and the young and charming Julia Salas, Dead Stars is a deeper allegory critical of the American occupation and its effect on local culture and social norms.

Marquez-Benitez would go on to become a popular writing professor at the University of the Philippines until her retirement in 1951. Her work and tutelage at UP encouraged and inspired many other highly regarded writers over the decades. On top of this, she also founded what is now the Philippine Women’s University, advancing the cause of women’s education in the country.

“Google Philippines is proud to honor an important figure in Philippine literature, Paz Marquez-Benitez. Our rich literary heritage would definitely not be the same today without Marquez-Benitez’s impactful contributions, not only with her creations, but also with her valuable mentorship of a long line of writers in the country,” said Mervin Wenke, Head of Communications and Public Affairs for Google Philippines.

Prime Video Announces Upcoming Korean Rom-Com Title “True to Love”

Global video streaming service Prime Video announced today that romance series True to Love will be coming to the service. Prime Video customers in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, India, US, UK, Canada, and Australia can watch new episodes of True to Love weekly, every Wednesday and Thursday, starting April 12.

True to Love is a romantic comedy series that bursts with romance. The romance is centered around reputable dating coach Deborah (Yoo In-na), the prickly publishing planner Soo-hyeok (Yoon Hyun-min), and the publishing company head Sang-jin (Joo Sang-wook).

Actress Yoo In-na is known for her roles in dramas like The Spies Who Loved Me, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, and My Secret Hotel. Yoon Hyun-min has been seen recently in Get Revenge, Men are Men, and Witch at Court. And Joo Sang-wook has acted in series like Touch, Fates & Furies, and Fantastic.

True to Love is produced by KT StudioGenie, Poongnyeonjeonpasang, and Oz Arena. The series is directed by Lee Tae-gon, who has been loved by the public for his directing skills in Mad for Each Other, Diary of a Prosecutor, and the Hello, My Twenties series. True to Love is written by A-kyung, who is a writer recognized for her witty writing skills. The upcoming series is drawing attention from viewers due to the reunion of both Director Lee Tae-gon and writer A-kyung after working together on Mad for Each Other.
