Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have unveiled the new trailer and official artwork for “Digger,” an original film starring Academy Award winner Tom Cruise and directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu.
Driven by urgency, ambition, and the threat of global destruction, the film follows the most powerful man in the world as he launches a frantic mission to prove that he is humanity’s savior. There is only one problem: he may also be responsible for the disaster threatening to destroy everything.
Tom Cruise Leads an Acclaimed Ensemble Cast
Cruise stars in the title role alongside an impressive lineup of award-winning performers.
The cast includes Academy Award winner Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Academy Award nominee Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Academy Award nominee Jesse Plemons. Robert John Burke, Emma D’Arcy, Burn Gorman, and Sophie Wilde also star.
With its provocative premise and powerhouse ensemble, “Digger” promises a gripping cinematic experience centered on power, responsibility, and one man’s desperate attempt to control the consequences of his actions.
Alejandro G. Iñárritu Returns With an Original Story
Iñárritu directed the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Academy Award winners Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolás Giacobone, as well as Sabina Berman. The story was created by Iñárritu and Berman.
The film is produced by Iñárritu, Academy Award nominee Mary Parent, Tom Cruise, and Michael Sharp.
Joshua Grode, Sabina Berman, Alexander Dinelaris, Nicolás Giacobone, Jez Butterworth, and Emmanuel Lubezki serve as executive producers.
An Award-Winning Creative Team Behind the Camera
Reuniting with Iñárritu behind the camera is Academy Award-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, who previously collaborated with the filmmaker on acclaimed projects.
The creative team also includes editors Conor O’Neill and Academy Award winner Stephen Mirrione, Academy Award-nominated costume designer Jacqueline West, Academy Award-winning makeup and hair designer Alessandro Bertolazzi, and Academy Award-nominated casting director Francine Maisler.
Also joining the production are Academy Award-winning production designer Dennis Gassner, production designer Richard Johnson, Academy Award-winning prosthetic makeup designer Kazu Hiro, and composer Cosmo Sheldrake.

Shot Entirely in VistaVision
Presented as an Alejandro G. Iñárritu film, “Digger” was shot entirely in VistaVision, offering audiences a bold and immersive visual experience designed for the big screen.
“Digger” will open in theaters and IMAX across North America on October 2, 2026. International screenings will begin on September 30, 2026.
The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
