A Twisted Horror-Action Ride Arrives This March
Fun as hell. Bloody as hell. Satanic as hell. That’s the unapologetically outrageous energy behind “They Will Kill You,” the upcoming horror-action-comedy written and directed by Kirill Sokolov.
Produced by Andy Muschietti, the filmmaker behind global horror hits It, It Chapter Two, and Mama, the film blends brutal action, dark comedy, and cult horror into one wildly entertaining cinematic experience.

Leading the cast is Zazie Beetz (Invincible), joined by Tom Felton, Heather Graham, Patricia Arquette, Myha’La, and Paterson Joseph.
But surprisingly, the idea for the film began with something far more ordinary—an apartment building and a strange feeling about the neighbors.
The Unexpected Inspiration Behind the Film
In a newly released featurette, Sokolov revealed the unusual real-life scenario that sparked the story.
Nearly a decade ago, the director and his wife rented an apartment in a building where residents appeared unusually close-knit. While that might sound friendly, the situation stirred a darker thought in his mind.
“There was a real situation that inspired me for this script,” says Sokolov
Everyone in the building seemed to know each other, creating an atmosphere that felt slightly unsettling.
That small detail pushed the filmmaker’s imagination toward a bizarre possibility.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if they came and take us and sacrifice us and maybe that’s how will they prolong their lives. After that, we just fast-forward to this movie.”
From that fleeting thought came the seed of a wildly chaotic story about cults, survival, and one unforgettable night.

Zazie Beetz Faces a Night of Survival
In They Will Kill You, Zazie Beetz plays a young woman who finds herself trapped inside The Virgil, the mysterious headquarters of a demonic cult.
What begins as a dangerous situation quickly spirals into a brutal fight for survival. To stay alive, she must endure a relentless night inside the cult’s twisted death-trap of a lair.
The film mixes high-energy action with graphic horror and sharp humor, creating a bold genre mashup that feels both shocking and entertaining.
Beetz says the script stood out because of its playful yet fearless tone.
“What I really liked about the script is the very clear fun Kirill was having with this genre and with the story,” says Beetz in the featurette.
Tom Felton on the Film’s Unique Story
For Tom Felton, known worldwide for his role in the Harry Potter films, the screenplay immediately felt different from anything he had read before.
“This script is so unique. There are so many elements of it that are not on anything that I’ve ever read before.”
The actor points out that the film balances wildly contrasting themes—from family relationships to sinister cult rituals—while maintaining its darkly comedic tone.
‘They Will Kill You’ has so many aspects to it – from family bonding, to Satanic cults.”
That unexpected combination is exactly what gives the movie its distinctive personality.

A Blood-Soaked Battle at The Virgil
Set almost entirely inside The Virgil, the film delivers a claustrophobic and unpredictable night packed with outrageous action, shocking kills, and wicked humor.
The mysterious building becomes the perfect playground for the cult’s disturbing rituals—and a brutal obstacle course for the film’s reluctant heroine.
As Beetz teases with a grin:
“Get ready. It’s about to get bloody.”
