As Netflix Philippines marks its tenth year as part of the local entertainment landscape, it enters 2026 with renewed confidence and creative fire. What began as a platform for global hits has steadily transformed into a trusted home for Filipino stories—stories shaped by local voices, grounded in culture, and brought to life with world-class craft.
The connection is undeniable. In the past year alone, more than 90% of Netflix members in the Philippines watched local content, signaling a powerful shift in viewing habits. Filipino audiences are choosing stories that feel close to home, emotionally resonant, and proudly their own.
From Streaming Platform to Creative Ally
Netflix’s journey in the Philippines has been defined by evolution. Early on, it introduced global narratives to local audiences. Over time, it took on a more meaningful role—supporting Filipino creators, backing bold ideas, and helping long-envisioned stories reach the screen.
That trust has paid off. Films and series such as Doll House, Lolo and the Kid, Outside, and Kontrabida Academy didn’t just perform strongly at home; they captured international attention. So far, 32 Filipino titles have made it to Netflix’s Global Top 10, proving that local stories, when told with authenticity and ambition, resonate far beyond borders.
Netflix’s commitment also extends to the broader industry. Since 2022, the platform has partnered with major networks to premiere episodes of long-running Filipino dramas ahead of their free-to-air broadcasts—starting with ABS-CBN, followed by GMA. This approach offers viewers more flexibility while reinforcing Netflix’s support for the country’s existing entertainment ecosystem.

Set after the events of the 2018 film, this dystopian action series stars Anne Curtis and is directed by Erik Matti. With expansive sets, a large ensemble cast, and heightened spectacle, it pushes Filipino action storytelling into daring new territory.

A modern YA romance film, 18th Rose revisits the thrill and tenderness of first love. Featuring a new on-screen pairing of Xyriel Manabat and Kyle Echarri, it’s youthful, charming, and quietly powerful.
Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon
Led by Jodi Sta. Maria, this family drama offers an offbeat yet heartfelt look at Filipino family life. Balancing humor and emotional honesty, it captures the chaos, warmth, and complexity that feel instantly familiar.

Netflix also continues its collaboration with local networks, premiering select series three days ahead of free-to-air television.
GMA’s The Master Cutter stars Dingdong Dantes as a former scout ranger living a double life—quiet tailor by day, relentless bounty hunter by night.
ABS-CBN’s Someone, Someday follows a woman haunted by her past who creates a dating app designed to help women find the right love at the right time. The series stars Kathryn Bernardo and James Reid in a fresh pairing, alongside Maja Salvador.
