  • Sharks Billiard League Amplifies the Game with a New Arena

Fanning the flames of excitement for billiards, the Sharks Billiard League (Sharks) reveals its latest achievement – a second arena. This comes two years post the initiation of the only existing billiards’ league in the Philippines, symbolizing a new era for both the sport and its players.

    Great White Arena
Sharks’ second home–Great White Arena located in Tomas Morato, Quezon City

A Grand Milestone: The Great White Arena

Located in Tomas Morato, Quezon City, the Sharks Great White Arena marks the biggest triumph for the league to date. It’s designed to serve as the battleground for numerous local and international tournaments, giving the sport a much-needed boost. The Tiger Arena, Sharks’ pioneering arena, also nestled in Quezon City, continues to provide a stage for thrilling games.

More Than a Game: A Platform for Billiards Enthusiasts

Sharks offers a stage where billiards aficionados can witness local and international players compete in daily tournaments. Hosting three events per day in each arena for both professional and amateur 9-Ball and 10-Ball players, Sharks has now broadened its scope. The advent of the second arena enables them to host three additional events per day, including the forthcoming Sharks International 9-ball Open, set to be live-streamed for free on the Sharks official website. Before long, spectators will have the chance to experience these tournaments live at the Sharks’ Arenas.

    A Vision for the Future

“We continue to support the billiards industry by holding these tournaments for local and international talents, in efforts to bring back the passion the Philippines has for billiards. With two arenas in Quezon City, and an upcoming one in Manila, we hope to make the Sharks League a nationwide, and further, a worldwide phenomenon,”  stated Sharks’ President, Sol Khan.

  • Wala pang sahod? The Petsa de Peligro timeline and how to navigate each phase

‘Petsa de Peligro’, the one term that sends shivers down the spines of hardworking Pinoys who have to wait for their payrolls once or twice a month.  In Spanish, Petsa de Peligro literally means ‘day of danger’ or the day before payday when one already has run out of money. But for some, petsa de peligro lasts not just a day but sometimes weeks in between paychecks.

    GCredit Pullout Banner

Just like any stressful life event, there are certain stages you go through during Petsa de Peligro. But wherever you are in the typical Petsa de Peligro timeline, your favorite e-wallet, GCash, has your back. Whether payday is a few days or hours away, or even when it gets delayed, sagot ka ng GCredit powered by CIMB because you can still pay for your bills and everyday expenses.

Petsa de Peligro may be a struggle for most Filipinos, but there are different ways to manage your finances using GCredit so you could make it through payday:

Two days after your sahod: The Sense of Doom

For some, Petsa de Peligro creeps in the moment you pay off your bills, buy your groceries, or make big purchases. By this time, the feeling of being short in cash isn’t yet blowing up in your face but you already feel a sense of impending doom.

It’s tempting to shy away but you need to know how much you have left and how much you can spend so you can manage your finances better. With an always-ready credit line like GCredit, you can stock up on groceries, toiletries and other essentials to get you by.

One week before the next sahod: The Budol Moment

This is usually the same time as when some of your friends invite you for coffee or a weekend getaway, and the same time your inner self says “Deserve mo naman” every time you see a budol.

With GCredit, you don’t have to wait until the next payday to treat yourself for all the hard work. You can use it to get yourself a hearty dinner during days when you need a pick-me-up, buy chips and drinks for that barkada beach trip or snag that online purchase you deserve – and pay for them later.

Five days before the next sahod: The Lifestyle Bargain

By this time, you’re already considering trading off your current lifestyle in an attempt to stave off further damage. This is the perfect time to explore cheaper alternatives and make small changes that can accumulate significant savings to help you get through the next payday.

Instead of your usual fancy coffee drink, you can check out other coffee brands. Instead of saying yes to every lunch out, you can do meal prep ahead and bring your baon to work. Whether you want to  discover new coffee places or buy necessary ingredients to cut down on additional cost, you can manage your finances even further with the help of GCredit.

Three days before the next sahod: The Scavenger Hunt

So near yet so far – the last few days before payday may feel like the longest time of your life.

It’s valid to feel distressed, but it’s also the time to bring out your diskarte and last-minute hacks. Be extra alert for discounts and deals, scour your kitchen for canned food you may have forgotten, charm your way to get a free meal from one of your colleagues or simply use GCredit to cover unexpected expenses!

One day before the next sahod (or unfortunately, when it arrives late): The Waiting Game

Finally, you have come to terms with your situation. The waiting game might be excruciating, but you can bounce back and everything will eventually work out in your favor because you can always use GCredit to get you out of your tight spot.

GCredit, powered by CIMB, is an always-ready credit line by GCash that can be used to pay for select bills, as well as products and services in-store and online. With a limit of up to Php 50,000 pesos, GCredit can help you get by without missing the due dates of your monthly bills and provide you with immediate funds for errands and groceries.  GCredit is a credit line that can be used for bills payment, online buys, and in-store QR purchases to cover everyday expenses.

If you’re an eligible GCash user, you don’t need to disclose your income and submit supporting documents and collateral to apply for GCredit. Once you get approved, you can enjoy prorated interest, which means you may get charged lower interest if you pay earlier. To make your payment lighter, GCredit’s Minimum Amount Due also allows you to pay as low as 15% of your dues on your billing and/or due date.

    How to Activate GCredit:

STEP 1: Log into your GCash account
STEP 2: Tap Borrow on the GCash Dashboard
    STEP 3: Tap GCredit
STEP 4: Fill out the GCredit form and tap “Submit”
    STEP 5: Start using GCredit!

You can pay with GCredit for your next in-store purchase by scanning the QR code at the merchant’s cashier and selecting GCredit as the payment option. For online purchases, select GCash as your payment option upon checkout of your online transaction and tap GCredit as the payment option. For payment of select billers, use the Pay Bills service on your GCash app, choose your biller, fill in the necessary details, and choose GCredit as your Payment Source.

To be eligible for GLoan, GGives, and GCredit, you must have a fully verified GCash profile and must maintain a qualified GScore, which is the app’s trust rating reflecting their GCash activity. Increasing or maintaining your GScore can be done by maintaining an active GCash wallet balance, regularly using different GCash services, and paying dues early or on time.

Access GCredit through your GCash dashboard or find it under “Borrow.” No GCash yet? Download the GCash App on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Huawei App Gallery! Kaya mo, i-GCash mo!
