  • Cebu Pacific Transitions to Electric Vehicle to Service Employees

Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), the Philippines’ leading airline, transitions its Juander Shuttle service to 100% electric, zero-emission minibuses for the commuting needs of its employees.

CEB provides the Juander Shuttle service for free to transport its employees to and from its main office in Pasay City to various pick-up and drop-off locations along selected routes within Greater Metro Manila.

    COMET 002

“CEB is excited to roll out a more sustainable commuting service for our employees with the 100% electric COMET vehicles. This program is part of the Company’s efforts to decarbonize our operations, which in this case is the shift from the use of diesel-powered vehicles to a more sustainable electric alternative,” said Felix Dan Lopez, CEB’s Chief Human Resources Officer.

“At the same time, the bigger COMET will accommodate more riders due to its larger seating capacity. It also offers safety and connectivity features that will serve our commuting employees better,” he added.

    1 2

The electric powered minibuses, called the Community Optimized Managed Electric Transport, or COMET, are provided by GET Philippines, Inc. COMET vehicles are fully air-conditioned and equipped with retractable ramps for persons with disabilities. They are installed with a media system, display monitors, and internet connection for the use of the passengers.

“GET Philippines is very pleased to partner with Cebu Pacific in providing a safe and sustainable transport solution to its employees. We are glad to support the Company’s drive to create a positive impact to the environment,” Frankie T. Endriga, GET COO, said.

Cebu Pacific is committed to reducing the environmental impact of its operations. This includes minimizing its flight emissions through its aircraft modernization program, as well as addressing emissions from its ground operations.

    COMET 003

“CEB recognizes the need to mitigate the emissions from our ground operations, in addition to the decarbonization efforts for our aircraft fleet.  We have initiated a multi-year program to transform our ground transportation network to electric, zero-emission alternatives.  This also supports the government’s thrust to promote electric vehicles in the country’s transportation sector,” said Alex Reyes, Chief Strategy Officer, who also leads sustainability in CEB.

  • Cebu Pacific Elevates Passenger Experience at NAIA T3

Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), the Philippines’ leading airline, enhanced customer service at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA T3) by allowing passengers who accomplished online check-in to enter through a dedicated gate, among other features that will ease travel experience.

From the first entrance at the NAIA T3 Departures (Online Check-In Entrance), customers who checked-in online can go straight to the boarding gates if they don’t need to check in their bags.

    image007

Passengers who need to check in their bags may proceed to CEB’s self-bag tag kiosks at Isle E, scan their boarding passes at a machine, print and attach the tags on their bags. Thereafter, domestic passengers may proceed to the online check-in bag drop counters at E16-E29, while international passengers may check the counters assigned to them on the flight information monitors near Isles D and E.

    image008

Meanwhile, passengers who did not check in online may enter through Gates 1 and 2 and use any of the check-in kiosks located in between Isle D and E. They may also print their bag tags and use the bag drop counters located between D16-D29 and E1-E15.

    image009

CEB will offer a repack area where all passengers can check if they are within their baggage allowance or not. It also allows passengers to conveniently repack or arrange their bags if necessary.

The airline is also ready to address the concerns of passengers with same-day flights by operating a 24/7 help desk at its ticket office near NAIA T3 Arrival Gate 6.

    4

“Our top priority at Cebu Pacific is to ensure the safety and comfort of our passengers. As demand for air travel picks up, we hope that these solutions will allow our customers to travel more conveniently and reach their destinations with ease,” said Lei Apostol, Cebu Pacific Vice President for Customer Service Operations.

Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Cesar Chiong lauded CEB’s initiatives to improve passenger experience at NAIA T3.

    5 1

“Our focus is to make sure that we will deliver the best service to our riding public and to our fellow Filipinos. This supports our overall goal to continuously enhance travel experience for all passengers passing through the NAIA,” said Chiong.

Among the measures that MIAA has undertaken to further provide a seamless travel experience for passengers include the removal of the initial security check in all four NAIA terminals, reassignment of some domestic and international flights to other terminals, and implementation of several digitalization projects.

    3

CEB advises its passengers to book their flights online by creating a MyCebuPacific account to get notifications about their upcoming trips, manage their bookings, access their Travel Funds, among other features. Online check-in is also available via the Cebu Pacific app and website, reducing passenger waiting time at the airport and allowing them to go straight to their assigned boarding gates.

CEB flies to 35 domestic and 25 international destinations, spanning across Asia, Australia and the Middle East.

  • Three Reasons Why You Need A Lifeventure

After going through one of the world’s longest lockdowns, Filipinos are taking every opportunity to get out of the house and out of town, especially as the summer season looms. In fact, the top reason why we are itching to go on a trip so badly is that we want to seek and experience new adventures this year, according to travel website Agoda.com.

However, for every revenge traveler raring to go is also someone experiencing a form of burnout and that is enough to put a stop to any of our plans. Working in less-than-ideal conditions throughout the pandemic has naturally caused a spike in employee disengagement, which in turn led many to quiet quit. According to the International HR Institute (IHRI), the term may be new but the phenomenon isn’t. Since late last year, “quiet quitting” or when a person gradually cuts back on work productivity and just slogs along to get by, has become a hot topic of conversation online and even over beers with friends.

    Burnout

To prevent any type of burnout from creeping in and affecting our psyche, a local movement has started that champions seeking new experiences in order to combat the monotony and turn life into a ‘Lifeventure’.

Defined as enriching activities that help give meaning, allow us to grow, and make a positive impact in the world, Lifeventures seek to break the routine of the daily grind and encourage all of us to try something different, look for periodic breaks, and allow ourselves to learn from the process. There are multiple benefits to having a Lifeventure, too. Here are three reasons why you should seek it out.

    It keeps the mind sharp

    1. It keeps the mind sharp.

Nothing makes you feel robotic that doing the same thing every day. Taking the time to seek Lifeventures, whether it’s trying a new sport, visiting an unfamiliar place, or rekindling your passion for an outdoor hobby can do wonders for your mental game.  A 2022 study published in the journal Psychology of Sport and Exercise found that participation in adventure activities has the potential to enhance our resilience and ability to maintain psychological well-being across a variety of stressful situations.

So how to take advantage of this natural booster? It all starts with planning your next Lifeventure.

    New Tribes

    2. You find new tribes.

While seeking new experiences can be daunting, it’s also an opportunity to meet new friends or rekindle old friendships. And when you’re around others doing the same fun activity, especially if they have a positive outlook, you tend to benefit from that, too. A study published in the Journal of Social Sciences related to group exercisers revealed that people tend to be influenced by the positive behaviors of people around them, especially during physical activities.

In seeking Lifeventures, you’re bound to meet others who can influence you to find that delicate balance between work and play through their experiences, too.

    Learning about yourself

    3. You learn more about yourself.

Whether you’re conquering a new mountain as part of your weekend hike or signing up for a new sport, every Lifeventure teaches you something. When you find yourself in an unfamiliar situation, it will show you just how much you are willing to adapt to conquer it. You won’t get that from staying in familiar territory.

Unsure where to start? Then check out Lifeventure Philippines (www.lifeventureph.com), an online community created to celebrate and enable Filipinos to seek new and enriching experiences for themselves and for the people and communities around them. You’ll find that the community opens you up to a variety of positive and meaningful learnings that will equip you for any Lifeventure you wish to pursue.  Be part of this movement and sign up today by visiting the website. Start your own Lifeventure now and meet like-minded individuals and learn new experiences and activities on the website.

  • Travel giants PHILTOA and HSMA join forces  to ‘jumpstart’ tourism in the biggest industry event of the year

    Contract Signing Jan2023 2

As part of its recovery efforts for the travel and tourism industry, the Hotel Sales and Marketing (HSMA) of the Philippines sealed its partnership with the Philippine Tour Operators Association (PHILTOA) to kick off preparations for the upcoming Travel Exchange 2023, which is designed to be this year’s largest platform for hotels, resorts, theme parks, tour operators, and agencies to create innovative travel experiences for both Filipinos and visitors from other countries. The inaugural B2B fair is slated on March 28-29, 2023 at the MGBx of the Manila Marriott Hotel.

“Our membership is basically nationwide; be it a business hotel or a leisure resort, we have that in our portfolio. In PHILTOA, they have all sorts of travel agents that cater to different markets, and I think it’s such an opportune time for this partnership because the global market is starting to breathe again,” said Loleth So, HSMA president and area director of Sales & Marketing, Belmont & Savoy Hotel Manila (Megaworld Hotels & Resorts).

The partnership is a first for both HSMA and PHILTOA, which saw fit to merge their organizations together to also further help industry players affected by the pandemic recover and restart their businesses.

    Contract Signing Jan2023

“Tour operators and hotels are a perfect click,” said So. “As far as the hotels are concerned, we will encourage them [to offer special packages] because this is the market that we want to already talk to; we won’t have to go out anymore on sales calls!”

So added that the event will also help them come up with offers that will truly give their guests the local flavor that they want during their stay since many of PHILTOA’s members are small tour operators who are experts at creating these kinds of experiences.

“As an association, we really want to help our tour operators, especially those who are just starting and don’t know whom to talk to in the hotel side of things,” said Fe Abling-Yu, PHILTOA President. “During the pandemic, these operators really grew the local market–everybody learned to sell domestically.”

    Contract Signing

The PHILTOA partnership and the Travel Exchange are new additions to HSMA’s annual roster of exciting activities, the most famous of which is the group’s flagship September Online Sale (S-O-S)—also established as a response to the impact of the pandemic on travel and tourism. Also coming up this year is the 9th HSMA Virtus Awards, the most prestigious recognition given to outstanding sales and marketers of the group’s member hotels and resorts.

    About HSMA Philippines

The Hotel Sales and Marketing Association (HSMA) is the premier organization of hotel sales and marketing leaders in the Philippines. Its members were  heads of sales and marketing executives of accredited hospitality properties located in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Currently, HSMA has over 130  members nationwide.

    About PHILTOA

The Philippine Tour Operators Association (PHILTOA), Inc. is an organization of tour operators and allied members actively involved in the advocacy of responsible tourism. Founded on 12 June 1986, non-stock and non-profit organization.
