Columbia Pictures PH has officially announced on social media that Spider-Man: No Way Home: The More Fun Stuff Version is coming to Philippine cinemas this September 7!
The upcoming rerelease of the hit Marvel Studios movie will include 11 minutes of more content, as revealed by Fandango. While the context of these new scenes is still under wraps, big fans of the franchise would surely want to catch this new cut in theaters.
Released in the Philippines back in January, Spider-Man: No Way Home officially brought together the three actors who played Spider-Man in one flick: Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire. Parker seeks the help of Doctor Strange who casts a spell for people to forget what happened, but this spell cracks open the multiverse, pulling some of the most notable villains from past Spider-Man films into their universe. Alongside these villains, Peter Parker also found new allies in the form of the two other Peter Parkers who were pulled into his universe as well.
Directed by Jon Watts, the film also stars Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Jamie Foxx, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Marisa Tomei. You can also stream Spider-Man: No Way Home on Netflix.

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ was a completely unexpected cinematic experience for me. The story picks up just moments after ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, and what unravels is more centered on the effects of being Spider-Man in Peter Parker’s life than it is a comic book movie. While the film is action-packed and filled with meta commentaries on second chances, it feels more like a coming-of-age teen drama that is set in a comic book world and our protagonist just happens to have superpowers. The first two movies (and Spider-Man’s involvement in other MCU movies) focused on what it meant to be Spider-Man, a friendly neighborhood web-slinger fighting crime and saving the world. And it also plays this off with him just being a high school kid.
In this film, Peter Parker’s life as a teenager takes center stage. At the end of ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, we see the reporter, J. Jonah Jameson, announcing Spider-Man’s identity and in this film, Peter has to contend with the fallout of this very public revelation.
Yes, there are super villains (we will get to that later) but the whole first act of the film and the crux of the conflict stems from how this revelation has affected Peter Parker (not Spider-Man) and the people around him – the people he loves. More than anything, we see how important MJ, Ned, and Aunt May are to Peter’s life. Yes, he’s a 17-year old kid who fought alongside Iron Man and Captain America and the rest of the Avengers but deep down inside, he’s just a kid. Director Jon Watts never lets us forget that – his youthful antics take on a deeper meaning – and it pushes us towards the incident and the cause of all this chaos.
Because in order to get his life back – because the movie shows us the real-world consequences of living a public life as a superhero and not having the finances that Tony Stark has; if anything the movie shows us how being poor sucks – he visits Dr. Strange and asks him to cast a spell to make everyone forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man.
But as seen in the trailer, Peter realises the wording has to be exact, messes up Dr. Strange’s spell causing a rift in the multiverse. Enter the villains: Spider-Man’s enemies from different universes come crashing into the MCU and Peter Parker has to clean up his own mess and deal with some very, very difficult grown-up decisions.
While the story revolves around a second chance – Peter Parker’s attempt at a second chance at anonymity leads to very dangerous consequences as well as a storyline involving the villains – this concept of “second chance” takes on a different meaning when looking at the film as a movie, a real-world product. Because, as the trailer has shown us, Alfred Molina reprises his role as Doctor Octopus and we all know Willem Dafoe returns as Green Goblin. Let me tell you, there’s more. But I’ll leave that to you to experience on your own.
What is amazing about this is that we have actors given a chance to reimagine and play around with roles they played as far back as 17 years ago. The story in itself is compelling but sitting in the theater and watching an actor reprise a role he played in a movie set in a totally different reality and universe is just an incredible feeling. New things are explored with these old characters and there’s a feeling of something very new happening right before your eyes, while certain things remain frightfully the same.
The experience of watching this film brings out so many emotions. There are so many levels and layers to this idea of “second chances” that pervades throughout the movie – not just for Peter Parker – but for so many other characters as well. The human aspect of this film feels heavier and more grounded than any of the other Spider-Man films prior.
And while there is so much joy in the experience of watching this film, this story is also very heartbreaking as it really gives us an in-depth look of a teenager whose very life has been torn apart by his escapades as a super-powered crime-fighting vigilante. Unlike the older Avengers, Peter Parker is 17, thinking about college, living with his aunt, and not the most financially capable of the other of MCU’s mightiest heroes. His life was just about to start and it was taken away from him and he now has to make some very adult decisions when he still hasn’t even graduated from high school yet. This is the heart of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ that really gives this movie so much depth.
And this is even amplified by Tom Holland’s, Zendaya’s, Jacob Batalon, and Marissa Tomei’s performances as Peter, MJ, Ned, and Aunt May respectively.
The film ends in such a powerful way that can be seen either as a bittersweet conclusion to the MCU Spider-Man trilogy or the beginning of another completely new set of stories in a world full of infinite possibilities. This was such a wild ride and I’m glad I got to see it in the cinema.
Spider-Man: No Way Home has finally arrived in Philippine theaters, and while we’re still wondering what’s next for Spidey and the whole MCU, we know that its director, Jon Watts, is bringing another movie franchise back to life.
According to Hollywood Reporter, the director has joined the creative team behind New Line’s relaunch of the famous horror franchise Final Destination. Watts serves as the producer and wrote a treatment and story for the project titled Final Destination 6, which will head straight to HBO Max.
Guy Busick, who worked on Ready or Not and the Scream reboot is writing the new project’s screenplay with Lori Evans Taylor. Also on the producing team are Craig Perry, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and Dianne McGunigle, Watts’ wife and manager.
After its huge success, the first Final Destination film from the early 2000s quickly became a famous horror film franchise, spawning four sequels, novels, and even a comic book series. Each story revolves around an individual who cheats death through a premonition, also saving several people around him or her. But Death is never done with them, as an unseen yet unstoppable force kills them off one by one.
Further details about the upcoming reboot of the film series are yet to be revealed.

With the character of Peter Parker in his last year of high school and the eyes of the world on him, it was clear that Spider-Man: No Way Home (now playing in Philippine cinemas) would be the final chapter in Peter Parker’s coming of age story.
Watch the film’s latest trailer below:
“This film is about him becoming the Spider-Man,” says Tom Holland, who reprises his role as Peter Parker. “It’s about him growing up, stepping up to the plate, and making his own decisions as a full-blown Avenger.”
No Way Home is indeed the culmination of the Homecoming trilogy… and the start of a multiverse of possibilities. In the first film, Homecoming, Peter gains a mentor in Tony Stark. Peter desperately wants to join the Avengers, but Tony Stark advises him to focus on being a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. In the second film, Far From Home, having lost his mentor and taken that to heart, he discovers that being Spider-Man means when duty comes calling, he must answer. At the end of that film, Peter is ready to be his own man and the hero that everyone wants him to be – when suddenly, his identity is revealed and he is framed for the crime of murdering Quentin Beck (a/k/a Mysterio).
Tom Holland stars as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Doctor Strange in Columbia Pictures’ SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME.
With Mysterio having revealed Spider-Man’s secret identity, and a less-hirsute J. Jonah Jameson having broadcast that identity to the world, Peter finds himself at the center of extreme controversy. “His world is turned upside down,” says Chris McKenna, one of the movie’s credited writers. “He had his ‘I am Iron Man’ moment, but he didn’t get to make it. It was forced on him from the grave by Beck. He’s hounded by J. Jonah Jameson and framed as a murderer. So at a moment when everything should be going great – he’s about to be a senior in high school, he has a girlfriend, he’s found a harmony between being Spider-Man and being Peter Parker – the whole thing is upended.”
Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) looks on at Spider-Man in Columbia Pictures’ SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME.
“Spider-Man’s biggest superpower is Peter Parker, and that’s because of his humility,” says Holland. “When that is at stake, his friends are at stake, his aunt is at stake, their lives have been ruined because of him, he knows he has to do something. What I love – and this is a constant reminder of how young Peter is – is the naivete of him going to Doctor Strange and saying, ‘Can you just make everyone forget who I am, is that something you can do?’ And that’s something only a kid would do.”
Doc Ock (Alfred Molina) and Spider-Man battle it out in Columbia Pictures’ SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME.
“If you think about what Peter’s been through, Strange is closely tied to a very substantial moment in his life,” says director Jon Watts. “In Endgame, Strange’s plan to stop Thanos leads to Peter losing Tony, his mentor, right in front of his eyes. I imagine Strange would feel some responsibility for that, so it’s understandable that if Peter came to Strange and asked for his help, Strange would oblige, even if it meant bending the rules a bit.”
Tom Holland stars as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Columbia Pictures’ SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME.
That’s true even though Strange and Peter haven’t been super close in the past, according to Benedict Cumberbatch. “This chapter of their story brings them far closer to knowing and understanding each other,” he says “because despite the intensity of their experience together so far, they don’t actually know each other very well. Until this point, Strange has just seen a kid with extraordinary powers caught up in a problem far larger than either one of them.”
Strange’s spell opens the multiverse so that anyone in any universe who knew Peter Parker was Spider-Man could come into his world. It turns out, that’s a lot of people… Since the first Spider-Man movie in 2002, there have been a rogue’s gallery of villains that have discovered who is behind the Spidey mask: the Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman, Lizard, Electro – all have threatened other Peter Parkers from time to time. When Strange’s spell collapses the boundaries between these universes, all of them are brought together to face this Peter Parker.
