What I enjoyed about the first season of Cross, is that we get a powerful, intelligent Black man, Alex Cross (Aldis Hodge), who is competent in every way as a homicide detective but is constantly under duress from not having properly dealt with his grief. There’s an amazing supporting cast around him, including his best friend John (Isaiah Sampson), a whip-smart FBI agent, Kayla (Alona Tai), his grandmother (Juanita Jennings), and a whole cadre of compelling characters. With the first season allowing Alex Cross to face his personal demons while solving and catching a serial killer, we see him close one chapter of his life, including accepting and letting go of his murdered wife, while also hurting and losing a wonderful woman in the process, Elle (Samantha Walkes).
In the first three episodes of the new season, Alex is asked to join Kayla to catch a person who sent a deadly threat to a billionaire, Lance Durand (Matthew Lillard); unaware that the person they are after is connected to a serial killer, whose targets are billionaires who are trafficking immigrant children for illegal child labor. The series shows us both Cross, Kayla, and John hunting down a suspect while simultaneously showing us the true perpetrator, Rebecca and Donnie (Jeanine Mason and Wes Chatham, respectively). Rebecca is on a mission of revenge against these billionaires, and her war is a righteous one. As Cross inches closer and closer to finding out about Rebecca, the show is allowing us to get to know her, her motivations and her backstory.

Very light, ambiguous spoilers follow:
Within the first three episodes, we see John dealing with his biological mother, who gave him up as a child, after she’s arrested for a crime. Elle and Alex are now broken up, but she remains in their lives while Nana Mama is absent. We also get a larger role for my favourite character on the show, Kayla. She’s in deep trouble over an off-the-books operation and is being set up as the fall guy.
L-R Matthew Lillard as Lance Durand, Lou Jurgens as Nat Gancarz, Alona Tal as Kayla Craig, Aldis Hodge as Alex Cross. Photo Courtesy of Ian Watson/Prime Video
There’s a lot of story threads playing out this season, and because Cross has managed to clean up a lot of his loose ends from last season, he feels more like a support character to the other players. We see things from his point of view, which is very interesting. He remains the lead and continues to carry the show, but he’s also there to help the others shine, even as he deals with his lingering issues with Elle.
Elle Monteiro (Samantha Walkes), Alex Cross (Aldis Hodge)
In fact, the love story between him and Elle is the least interesting storyline at play. Elle’s reason is justified and because of last season’s climactic ending, she remains part of the family and someone Cross’ kids trust. With Nana Mama out of the picture, Elle steps in as the house sitter, which adds to Cross’ confusion. Three episodes in, and it’s the slowest part of the show. Mustafa is a fantastic actor, and he makes John such a solid character that I wish the subplot involving his mother is fully utilized.
My favourite character is Kayla, though, and now that she has a bigger role in season 2, I’m eager to see the full range of her character’s complexity. She’s highly competent and very able but it seems she has often been sidelined in favor of her male counterparts. She’s shown that her morality bends, especially when you take into account how she dealt with Bobby Trey (Johnny Ray Gill) last season. Her connection with Cross runs much deeper than initially hinted at and is touched upon in episode three and I’d really like to see how they flesh out her character more.
Richard Helvig (Geoffrey Pounsett), Rebecca Luz (Jeanine Mason)
The main crime that we’re following though – the one involving Rebecca and Donnie – feels so on point. While the trafficked children are being exploited for child labor, which is both horrible and illegal, one can’t read into it as something similar to the political upheaval that is happening in the United States regarding the Epstein Files. The fact that Rebecca is targeting billionaires makes the links more solid that, as an audience member, you’re kind of on her side. You’re eager to see how Cross is going to navigate this particular dilemma, especially as the show positions Lillard’s Lance Durand as a two-faced spoiled billionaire. A lot of the good stuff from season one is carrying over and none of the baggage, so this is going to be a fun season.
My Rating: 4 Stars
Binge Cross Season 2 now and see why Wanggo gives it 4 out of 5 stars. With gripping twists, complex characters, and a crime plot that keeps you guessing, this is a season you won’t want to miss, stream it now on Prime Video.
The legend is stepping off the page and onto the screen.
Prime Video has officially unveiled the trailer and key art for Scarpetta, the long-awaited television adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling Kay Scarpetta novels. Set to premiere on March 11, 2026, the crime thriller will stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
With more than 120 million copies sold since the character’s debut in 1990, Kay Scarpetta has become one of the most enduring figures in modern crime fiction. Now, under the creative vision of Emmy-nominated writer and showrunner Liz Sarnoff (Barry, Lost), the iconic forensic pathologist finally comes to life in a gripping, character-driven series.
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Blumhouse Television in association with Blossom Films, Comet Pictures, and P&S Projects, Scarpetta blends psychological suspense with emotional depth—promising a crime drama that lingers long after the credits roll.
Nicole Kidman Steps Into the Role of a Lifetime
Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman stars as Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a brilliant and determined medical examiner whose work demands precision, resilience, and an unflinching pursuit of truth. With an unerring eye and steady resolve, Scarpetta serves as the voice for victims who can no longer speak for themselves.
But this time, the case cuts deeper.
As she hunts a serial killer, Scarpetta is forced to confront the haunting possibility that a pivotal investigation from 28 years ago—one that shaped her career—may now threaten to unravel everything she has built.
Starring opposite Kidman is Academy Award winner Jamie Lee Curtis as Dorothy Farinelli, Kay’s sister. Their fraught relationship simmers beneath the surface, layered with professional jealousy, unresolved wounds, and deeply buried secrets.
The ensemble cast further elevates the tension:
Emmy winner Bobby Cannavale as Detective Pete Marino
Emmy nominee Simon Baker (The Mentalist) as FBI profiler Benton Wesley
Academy Award winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) as Lucy Farinelli Watson, Kay’s tech-savvy niece
Completing the dual-era storytelling are Rosy McEwen, Amanda Righetti, Jake Cannavale, and Hunter Parrish, portraying the younger versions of the central characters—bridging past and present with striking intensity.
A Story Told Across Two Timelines
Layered and suspenseful, Scarpetta unfolds across two distinct time periods.
The narrative traces Scarpetta’s early days as Chief Medical Examiner in the late 1990s while simultaneously following her present-day return to her hometown, where she resumes her former role amid a disturbing new murder investigation.
As timelines intertwine, so do the consequences.
Old rivalries resurface. Long-held grudges ignite. Personal and professional boundaries blur. And standing at the center of it all, Scarpetta must navigate a maze of emotional complexity while pursuing justice at any cost.
It’s not just about solving a crime—it’s about confronting the past.
A Creative Team Built for Suspense
Liz Sarnoff serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner, shaping the adaptation with a sharp and character-focused approach. Nicole Kidman and Per Saari executive produce through Blossom Films, while Jamie Lee Curtis produces via Comet Pictures. Author Patricia Cornwell is also an executive producer through P&S Projects.
Blumhouse Television’s Jason Blum, Jeremy Gold, Chris Dickie, and Chris McCumber join as executive producers, bringing their signature edge to the project.
David Gordon Green directs five episodes and serves as executive producer alongside Amy Sayres, giving the series a cinematic intensity that heightens its emotional stakes.
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Blumhouse Television, Scarpetta stands as a bold collaboration between powerhouse creatives.
A Global Premiere Event
For readers who have followed Kay Scarpetta for decades—and for new audiences ready to meet her—March 11, 2026 marks a significant moment. The premiere of Scarpetta isn’t just another series launch; it’s the arrival of a cultural icon reimagined for television.

Prime Video has officially revealed the pulse-pounding trailer and striking key art for Season Two of Cross, the breakout crime thriller inspired by the iconic characters created by James Patterson. Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Paramount Television Studios, the new season premieres February 11, 2026, streaming exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The season opens strong with the first three episodes, followed by weekly releases, building suspense all the way to the gripping season finale on March 18, 2026. And yes—things are about to get far more dangerous.
A Breakout Hit Returns—Bigger, Darker, and Bolder
Set against the tense backdrop of Washington, D.C., Cross is created by executive producer and showrunner Ben Watkins, who also returns in a recurring role this season. The series follows Alex Cross (portrayed with intensity by Aldis Hodge), a brilliant homicide detective and forensic psychologist gifted with a chilling ability to think like a killer.
After pulling in over 40 million viewers globally within its first 20 days, Season One cemented Cross as one of Prime Video’s most talked-about crime thrillers. Now, Season Two raises the stakes—emotionally, psychologically, and lethally.
Season Two: Power, Paranoia, and a Deadly Countdown
This time, the danger comes wrapped in wealth and influence. Lance Durand (played by Matthew Lillard), a powerful billionaire business titan, seeks FBI protection after receiving a chilling death threat—one disturbingly connected to the murder of a fellow billionaire playboy.
As the clock ticks, Detective Alex Cross teams up once again with FBI Agent Kayla Craig (Alona Tal) in a high-risk joint mission to protect Durand and unmask a killer who leaves behind grotesque, calculated clues. Meanwhile, John Sampson (Isaiah Mustafa), Cross’ trusted partner and lifelong friend, stumbles upon an unexpected connection that could change everything.
With every revelation, the danger sharpens—and no one is truly safe.
