Lock your doors and keep the Christmas lights on. The ghosts are coming to town, and they have unfinished business with Ebenezer Scrooge!
This holiday season, Christmas gets a deliciously dark twist as Johnny Depp takes on the role of the notoriously cold-hearted miser in Ebenezer, a thrilling new interpretation of one of the world’s most beloved Christmas ghost stories.
Directed by Ti West, the filmmaker behind the X horror trilogy, the upcoming film promises a supernatural Christmas Eve unlike any other.
And before the spirits come knocking, audiences can get acquainted with the film’s characters through a newly unveiled collection of haunting character posters.
A Christmas Eve Scrooge Won’t Soon Forget
Forget the carols, candy canes, and cozy Christmas gatherings. For Ebenezer Scrooge, the most wonderful time of the year is about to become his worst nightmare.
Johnny Depp steps into the shoes of the famously unpleasant Scrooge, a man whose bitterness toward Christmas is matched only by his indifference toward those around him.
But this Christmas Eve, he won’t be spending the night alone.
When a series of supernatural visitors forces him to confront the ghosts of his past, present, and future, Scrooge finds himself on an extraordinary journey that could change his life forever.
Every encounter brings him closer to an uncomfortable truth, and every revelation pushes him toward a fate he may no longer be able to escape.
Will these ghostly visitors finally melt his icy heart? Or has Scrooge already run out of chances?
One thing’s certain: this is no ordinary Christmas haunting.
Meet the Faces Bringing ‘Ebenezer’ to Life
Beyond Johnny Depp’s portrayal of the iconic Christmas curmudgeon, Ebenezer brings together a remarkable ensemble of familiar faces.
Joining Depp are Harry Potter star Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, and Charlie Murphy, alongside Tramell Tillman and the legendary Ian McKellen.
The newly released character posters offer a first look at the personalities who will populate Scrooge’s supernatural world.
With such an impressive cast bringing this timeless tale to the big screen, there’s plenty for moviegoers to be curious about, especially when it comes to how these characters will fit into Scrooge’s haunting Christmas Eve.
After all, in a story where the past can return, the present can reveal uncomfortable truths, and the future is anything but certain, every visitor has the potential to leave a lasting impression.
A Beloved Christmas Classic Gets a Chilling New Twist
There’s a reason Ebenezer Scrooge’s story has endured for generations. Beneath its ghostly encounters lies a timeless tale about regret, redemption, and the possibility of becoming a better person.
But with Ti West at the helm, this familiar Christmas journey is getting an intriguing new perspective.
Known for his work on X, Pearl, and MaXXXine, West has built a reputation for atmospheric storytelling, unsettling tension, and memorable characters. Now, he brings his filmmaking sensibilities to a story already famous for its supernatural visitors.
Written by Nathaniel Halpern, Ebenezer reimagines Scrooge’s fateful Christmas Eve as a thrilling encounter with the consequences of a lifetime’s choices.
And while audiences may already know the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come, this new take invites them to experience the story with fresh eyes.
Because sometimes, the scariest thing isn’t seeing a ghost. It’s being forced to face yourself.
