    A star-studded premiere with a giant surprise

The cast and filmmakers of the original comedy adventure Anaconda made a lively splash at the film’s world premiere last December 13 at the iconic United Theater on Broadway in Los Angeles, California. The evening was packed with laughter, flashing cameras, and one unforgettable guest—a giant anaconda figure cheekily peering from the top of the photowall.

Naturally, the oversized snake became an instant crowd favorite, with the cast playfully posing alongside it. Leading the cheerful chaos were Paul Rudd and Jack Black, who brought their trademark charm and easygoing chemistry to the red carpet.

They were joined by fellow cast members Daniela Melchior, Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton, and Selton Mello, all glowing as they celebrated the film’s big moment. The atmosphere felt energetic and positive, setting the perfect tone for a movie that thrives on humor, friendship, and wild adventure.

Matching outfits, maximum charm in London

The fun didn’t stop in Hollywood. Just days later, Rudd and Black took their antics overseas for the Anaconda photocall at Claridge’s on December 19, 2025, in London, England—and they arrived with a delightful surprise.

The comedy duo stepped out in matching jumpsuits, complete with their names embroidered on the tags, instantly stealing the spotlight. The playful fashion choice drew laughter from fans and photographers alike, reinforcing the film’s lighthearted spirit and the duo’s undeniable chemistry.

    An original adventure with bite

THIS IS NOT A REBOOT. Anaconda is an entirely original comedy inspired by the cinematic “classic.” The film follows Doug (Jack Black) and Griff (Paul Rudd), lifelong best friends who have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favorite movie.

When a midlife crisis pushes them to finally chase that dream, they venture deep into the Amazon to start filming. But their already chaotic production takes a dangerous turn when an actual giant anaconda appears—transforming their passion project into a high-stakes fight for survival. What unfolds is a powerful mix of comedy, courage, and unexpected heart.

  • A ’90s Cult Classic Turns Comedic as Jack Black and Paul Rudd Bring ‘Anaconda’ Back with a Twist In Cinemas January 8

A ’90s Cult Classic Turns Comedic as Jack Black and Paul Rudd Bring ‘Anaconda’ Back with a Twist In Cinemas January 8

In this fresh comedic spin, childhood buddies Doug (Black) and Griff (Rudd) hit a shared midlife crossroads. Their solution? Finally creating the no-budget remake of their beloved childhood obsession: Anaconda. But when they head into the Amazon to shoot their passion project, chaos slithers in, literally. A real, gigantic anaconda appears, turning their filmmaking fantasy into a hysterically perilous misadventure. Best friends forever, at least until a giant serpent crashes their movie shoot.

    Anaconda

Get ready for a wildly entertaining adventure as comedy icons Jack Black and Paul Rudd headline Anaconda, a bold new take on the 1997 cult classic. Directed by Tom Gormican, the film also features Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton, Daniela Melchior, and Selton Mello.

    Watch the Trailer here:

    A First-Ever On-Screen Team-Up

Despite decades of comedy dominance, Anaconda marks the first cinematic pairing of Rudd and Black. For director and co-writer Tom Gormican, the combination felt inevitable.

“Jack and Paul are incredible performers. We wanted to make Jack the straight man and Paul the comedy character, which is a reversal of their regular casting, to see if we could bring something fresh to the table. Jack as the emotional center; Paul as the wildcard. Those two can find the funny in any situation. Made my job much easier.”

Black shared that the project grabbed him instantly:

“The script for Anaconda was funny and crazy, and I was excited to work with Tom Gormican and his brain, because The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent was one of my favorite films. And … Paul Rudd was attached! I was like, ‘I want to party with these dudes!’ This was a deck full of aces.”

    Anaconda

A New Concept, Same Legendary Snake

While the film uses the Anaconda title, this version is intentionally different from the original.

    Gormican explains their approach:

“We thought it would be a fun and novel way to attack IP-driven films, by making a movie about a group of friends trying to make a low budget, IP-driven film,” Gormican says. “Anaconda became a great vehicle to put the characters’ lives in danger, while they put their dream of making a movie into motion. And we were fans of the fun insanity of the original film.”

    Anaconda

A Producer Known for Scares Embraces Comedy

For producer Brad Fuller, known for horror staples like A Quiet Place, this film marks an enthusiastic leap into comedy.

He recalls Gormican and co-writer Kevin Etten pitching the film to him, and they “had a tone that no one else had come close to pitching. They had evolved Anaconda into a comedy. Tom and Kevin were not remaking a title; they were taking a title and turning it into something different and unexpected from the original.”

Big Dreams. Bigger Snakes. And Total Mayhem.

What happens when two middle-aged best friends try to remake their favorite ’90s creature feature? In Anaconda, the answer is pure, laugh-out-loud disaster — and it’s coming soon to a theater near you.

    Paul Jack

Comedic legends Paul Rudd and Jack Black team up for the first time in this riotous jungle romp, where filmmaking turns deadly and the laughs are as big as the snake that’s hunting them.

A Passion Project Spirals into Pandemonium

Meet Doug (Jack Black) and Griff (Paul Rudd) — two lifelong best friends whose shared obsession with the original Anaconda movie leads them to an outrageous decision: they’re going to remake it themselves.

Armed with a shoestring budget, questionable equipment, and unlimited enthusiasm, the duo ventures deep into the Amazon to shoot their passion project. But when a real, giant anaconda appears, their chaotic movie set quickly becomes a very real fight for survival.

As the tagline warns: The movie they’re dying to make? It might just get them killed.

Equal parts buddy comedy and survival thriller, the film blends Hollywood satire with outrageous jungle peril.

Joining Rudd and Black in the cast are Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton, Daniela Melchior, and Selton Mello, rounding out a stellar ensemble ready to bring the chaos.
