About Exhuma

Once they arrive, Hwa Rim senses a dark shadow of their ancestor has latched on the family in a so-called “Grave Calling.” In order to exhume the grave and relieve the ancestor, Hwa Rim seeks help from top-notch geomancer Sang Deok (Choi Min-Shik) and mortician Yeong Geun (Yoo Hae-Jin). To their dismay, the four find the grave at a shady location in a remote village in Korea. Onitsuka Tiger Unveils the 2024 Autumn/Winter Collection at Milan Fashion Week

Onitsuka Tiger presented its 2024 Autumn/Winter Yellow Collection on Wednesday, February 21st at Milan Fashion Week. The theme of the collection is “Urban Winter”. The looks created by made in Japan apparels express the essence of urban winter landscapes with a wet coating finish reminiscent of sudden thunderstorms in Tokyo.

The color palette consists of iconic yellow with metropolitan gray, black, beige, and hazelnut. The unique techniques are used to shape the silhouette with a new twist throughout the entire collection. The coats, jackets, and peacoats emphasize the contrast between wide shoulders and a narrow waist with tailoring details such as tube padding and ribbing. The double cashmere hoodie suggests a new layering concept as an outerwear piece worn over matching coats or blousons.

For men, there are wide pants in extra-long or ankle-cut chino and 5-pocket style, while for women there are stretchy slim-fit or oversized trousers. Micro skirts with flowing silhouettes and silk panel dresses with shiny and matte paillettes embroidery can be paired with wool socks and new creepers. Also, the brand’s first V-neck decollete with chunky high heels debuted that provide comfort and slip resistance. The collection also features innovative hybrid shoes that combine rubber soles and trekking boots, as well as a double bag made of synthetic leather with an urban shoulder strap.

As the first show of the 75^th anniversary year, the total number of 49 looks were presented in the show in association with Onitsuka Tiger’s founding year of 1949. Also, the collection’s accent is a rib-knitted zip-neck wool wear inspired by the brand’s most iconic track top. It can be worn as a modern scarf or an extreme crop top, making it Onitsuka Tiger’s celebratory piece.

Before the show, the dance team “AVANT-GARDEY”, led by choreographer Akane, performed a synchronized dance. The eye-catching yellow uniforms and the MEXICO 66 SD without Onitsuka Tiger stripes are specially designed to pay homage to the movie “Kill Bill”, expressing the brand’s evolution that interprets heritage in a modern way. Also, the pianist Yuja Wang live performed the show music with customized piano wrapped in yellow by Steinway & Sons. The music was composed especially for the show to express the collection theme.

Onitsuka Tiger brings its iconic Yellow color to Milan and arrives in “Flagship store Rinascente Milano Piazza Duomo”, with an extraordinary take-over of the -1 floor, 4th floor, 7th floor, and incredible visibility in the 8 windows overlooking the prestigious square.

Sena, father of the art workshop, leads group exhibit at ARTablado

In the four years since it was established, Robinsons Land ARTablado at Robinsons Galleria has grown and strengthened its reputation for being a platform for emerging and established Filipino artists. Dozens of paintings, sculptures and even woven art have been displayed on its walls.

ARTablado’s high-traffic location in the popular Ortigas mall attracts both the art lover and the casual visitor. For Arts Month this year, the gallery is featuring 50 paintings created by 25 members of the Dynamic Art Group led by Esther Garcia. Fernando Sena, considered by many as the Father of the Art Workshop because of his passion for art education, is one of its core members.

The members of the Dynamic Art Group are composed of established and seasoned artists as well as aspiring and young artists who are determined to continuously improve their art.

The Dynamic Art Group chose the theme, “Cross the Line” because of its connotations such as going beyond the normal since artists should be courageous when it comes to creating.

They believe artists should grow with the times and avoid becoming copycats. Their aim is to create based on what they feel, see and imagine. Crossing the line also means freedom. The members are free to join other art groups, participate in shows in other galleries with other groups.

The group said that crossing the line also means having the freedom to speak out but that members should respect one another: no bragging, no bullying, no slander.

The group previously staged an exhibit entitled “The Art of Manila Bay Rehab,” which documented the bay and its surrounding areas. For their efforts, the Manila Bay-ani Award—an international recognition given by environmentalist groups from Madrid, Normandy, Washington DC, Singapore and the Philippines—was bestowed on Esther Garcia and the Dynamic Art Group for portraying the beauty of Manila Bay.

They have also held exhibits to commemorate the 84th anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Philippines that benefited the educational needs of children of fallen soldiers, and another one in cooperation with the Voice of the Free foundation for the benefit of abused women.

Aside from regular communication, the Dynamic Art Group keep tabs on one another through group activities including on-the-spot painting events and lectures on skills improvement.

Fernando Sena playfully described the ongoing exhibit as a feast for the senses. “If I likened it to a restaurant, it would be one offering an eat-all-you-can buffet. Here at the ‘Cross the Line’ exhibit, you can see all you can and admire all you can,” he said.

Aside from Sena and Garcia, the 23 other participating artists are Jun Rocha, Bing Siochi, Al Perez, Darryl Ajero, Harry Torres, Vic Bachoco, Rick De Villa, Venancio Cabisada Jr., Ely Tablizo, Yolanda Batara, Dan David Garcia, Emmanuel Salva, Rara Carillo, Wendy Rondaris, Charlie Carabella, Chona David, Sally Ocampo Paja, Marilou Viado, Baby Grace Palma, Charina Biteng, Fritz Marcos Flores, Kim Bojanding, and Joyce Maimban.

As a father figure of the group and as the Father of Art Workshops, Sena had this to say to young artists. “Keep on painting. The more you paint, the more you learn to love your art. Love God.”

The “Cross the Line” exhibit runs until end of February at ARTablado, Level 3, Robinsons Galleria.

“Night Swim” Now Showing – A Supernatural Thriller from Horror Titans James Wan and Jason Blum

In a thrilling venture that marks another collaboration between horror aficionados James Wan and Jason Blum, “Night Swim” emerges as the latest supernatural sensation to hit the silver screen. Inspired by Bryce McGuire‘s hauntingly captivating short film from 2014, this full-length feature promises to draw audiences into its eerie depths, now showing in cinemas worldwide.

Origins of a Nightmarish Vision

The journey of “Night Swim” from a viral YouTube short to a cinematic masterpiece began in the backyard of none other than Grammy-winning artist Michelle Branch. Directed by Bryce McGuire, the original short featured Megalyn Echikunwoke in a gripping tale of a simple evening swim turned sinister. Celebrating a Decade of Artistry: ARTipolo’s Milestone Exhibit at ARTablado Robinsons Antipolo

Join the jubilation as ARTipolo, a dynamic group of artists hailing from Antipolo, commemorates a decade of creativity and community impact with a captivating exhibition at ARTablado Robinsons Antipolo. Delve into the colorful journey of ARTipolo as they reflect on their achievements, challenges, and unwavering commitment to the arts.

President Pol Mesina reminisces about ARTipolo’s remarkable journey, marked by moments of triumph and resilience. From prestigious gallery showcases to triumphs in art contests, ARTipolo has established itself as a driving force in the local art scene. What began as a regional organization has evolved into a diverse collective, welcoming artists from across the Philippines and around the globe.

He says that many key moments have taken place for ARTipolo. They have exhibited in prestigious galleries such as Pinto Art Museum, ARTablado in Robinsons Galleria and Robinsons Antipolo, Summit Ridge TaGAYTAY, and many others. Some of their members also emerged victorious in various art contests. And what was purely an organization focused on recruiting practitioners from the region has expanded, taking in members from Tuguegarao, Cagayan, Baguio, Pangasinan, Bohol, Manila, as well as Pinoy artists based in Japan, China, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and the United States.

“At ang ARTipolo ngayon ay ’di lang puro painters, mayroon na ring sculptors,” Mesina shares.

Since its inception in 2014, ARTipolo Group Inc., has been at the forefront of the art and culture scene in Antipolo City. It is more than a social group; it is an advocacy. Its goals are to hone its members’ creative talents and, at the same time, promote Antipolo City’s tourism program.

Robinsons Land ARTablado, as part of its Arts Month celebration, is giving the spotlight on this indefatigable art group by hosting its “Isang Dekada: Makulay na Paglalakbay sa Sining” exhibition, currently on view until Feb. 29 at the upper ground floor, Main Mall of Robinsons Antipolo.

The participating artists are: Amado Ongtauco, Ariel Purca, Bernardo Matias, Cha Mapaye Baladjay, Dolores van Duijvenbode, Edward Sato, Elizabeth Esguerra Castillo, Feng Eustaquio Villanueva, Fernando Regencia, Gem Yonzon Blanco, Genevieve V. Why did Mesina and company decide to commemorate its 10^th anniversary at ARTablado?

He answers, “Kaya namin napili ang ARTablado ay dahil maganda kasi ang venue at ito ay para sa masa. Maraming nagpupunta na mga tao sa mall. Marami makakakita ng aming obra. Saka na-educate na natin ang mga tao about art (by consistently mounting exhibitions). Sa gallery ay okay naman din — kaso limited ang viewers and visitors. Nahihiya pumasok ang mga tao sa gallery; hindi kagaya ng ARTablado na open sa lahat.”

The people behind Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) believe in the ingenuity and artistry of Filipinos. RLC has allocated spaces at Robinsons malls in Antipolo and Ortigas to hold exhibitions for art practitioners who deserve to showcase their hard work, grit and perseverance. ARTablado’s impact has been instantaneous for members of the art community who have been pining for a platform where every artist — from individual practitioners to members of art groups — gets the chance to shine.

“Malaki naitutulong ng art sa mga tao,” Mesina explains. “Nae-educate natin sila na mag-appreciate ng art — at ’di lang pang-mayaman pang ito. Alam na rin bigyan ng respeto ang mga gawa ng mga artists at ’di na lalaitin or gagawan ng ’di maganda ang mga obra.”

And art can be used in helping those who are less fortunate.

ARTipolo’s community service involvement is geared toward health, education, as well as the welfare of children, women and persons with disabilities and special needs. By organizing art exhibits and auctions, ARTipolo has been able to raise funds for its target beneficiaries.

“Isang Dekada” is for the benefit of PARClaran scholars of the PARC Foundation, with 30% of sales going directly to the foundation.

The PARC Foundation was established as a non-stock, non-profit organization in December 2015. It was founded by Wilmer Guido, a passionate 23-year-old whose dream was to put up a performing arts center to help people, especially the underprivileged youth and struggling local artists, fulfill their passions as well. Determined to achieve his dream, Wilmer formed his core team with like-minded friends Samsam Santiago and Issay Nodalo. As a first move, they repurposed an old office building into a performing arts hub. On June 1, 2016, they officially opened their doors to the public. Since then, The PARC Foundation has been a second home to numerous performing artists and groups who enjoy our creative spaces at the friendliest rates.

“Four times na namin sila naging beneficiary,” points out Mesina. “Kaya namin sila napili ay dahil pareho po ang advocacy ng ARTipolo (visual arts) and ng PARC Foundation (performing arts).” That is to encourage young hopefuls to express themselves in art — whether it is capturing a sun-dappled field on the cusp of harvest season with a palette of colors, or to weave the poetry of the human experience through the eloquence of body, tone or words.

Frankenstein and Fleabag Take the Center Stage in CCP National Theater Live This February 27

The CCP National Theater Live continues its first season with the thrilling and deeply disturbing classic tale Frankenstein gracing the Ayala Malls Cinema this February 27, 2024, at 6pm, at Greenbelt 3 Cinema 1.

Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the increasingly desperate and vengeful Creature determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal.

Scientific responsibility, parental neglect, cognitive development and the nature of good and evil, are embedded within this gripping and deeply disturbing classic Gothic tale written by English novelist Mary Shelley. The CCP NTL’s featured play celebrates the 200th anniversary of the 1818 iconic novel.

Captured live on stage in 2011, the production features Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller, alternating between the roles of Victor Frankenstein and his creation. One of the world’s most acclaimed and popular actors, Cumberbatch is known for his roles as Doctor Strange in the Marvel Universe franchise films, and as Sherlock Holmes. Miller stars in various films such as Elementary, Trainspotting, and Hackers.

The production was directed by Academy Award®-winner Danny Boyle, the director behind Trainspotting, 127 Hours, and 28 Days Later, and the 2009 Academy Awards’ Best Picture Slumdog Millionaire, among others.
