Empowering the Next Generation of Filipino Chefs through USA Cheese Education

Cheese is no longer just a garnish or comfort food staple – it’s a star ingredient celebrated for its versatility and  ability to transform any dish. As global appreciation for cheese’s limitless culinary potential continues to grow, more Filipino home cooks and professional chefs are deepening their knowledge, from its origins and production to how it can elevate even the most familiar recipes.

    USA Cheese Specialist Certification Program

USA Cheese Specialist™ Certification Program Lands in the Philippines

Recognizing this growing interest, the USA Cheese Guild has brought its globally recognized USA Cheese Specialist™ Certification Program to the Philippines. This premier training initiative – the first of its kind – equips culinary students and professionals, retailers and importers with in-depth knowledge of cheese, from its history and production to practical use across diverse global cuisines.

    USA Cheese Educ 1

For the culinary track, the Guild has partnered with the Center for Culinary Arts to integrate a three-tiered certification program (Associate, Intermediate, Advanced) into the  second-year curriculum. The program covers cheese families, proper storage and handling, and even artisanal cheesemaking – giving students the skills to elevate Filipino dishes and innovate in the kitchen.

    USA Cheese Educ 2

“By working directly with culinary students, we’re investing in the future of the food industry in the Philippines,” said Dali Ghazalay, Regional Director – Southeast Asia, USA Cheese Guild. “These young chefs are the tastemakers of tomorrow — equipping them with a deeper understanding of cheese, especially U.S. varieties, empowers them to push creative boundaries, elevate flavors, and make thoughtful choices in the kitchen. The USA Cheese Specialist™ certification isn’t just a credential — it’s a creative mindset. It encourages chefs to treat cheese not as an afterthought, but as a versatile, functional, and flavor-rich ingredient that can transform a dish.”

    USA Cheese Educ 3

According to Dr. Veritas Luna, Chancellor of CCA Manila, this milestone partnership enhances the school’s mission to uphold global culinary standards and foster culinary innovation. She shares, “This partnership with the USA Cheese Guild is a milestone for CCA and our students. It supports our commitment to internationalization, sustainability, and continuous faculty development — while giving our graduates a competitive edge that open doors both locally and abroad.”

    Why Cheeses from the USA?

The U.S. cheese industry blends traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation – producing cheese from high-quality cow’s milk, using sustainable farming practices and advanced food safety standards. As the world’s largest single-country producer and exporter of cheese, the U.S. offers a multitude of varieties and formats – all crafted to perform well in cooking, deliver exceptional taste, and meet the evolving needs of chefs and food enthusiasts around the world.

    Cheese Education Beyond the Classroom

Though this program is exclusive to the school’s culinary students, cheese education and inspiration can begin right at home. Whether you’re an aspiring chef or a passionate home cook, here are a few simple ways to bring the magic of USA Cheeses into your own kitchen:

    1. Use Cheese with Purpose

How cheese is prepared affects how it behaves in a dish. Grated cheese melts quickly and evenly – perfect for baked spaghetti or kaldereta. Crumbled cheese adds texture and bursts of flavor to salads or roasted vegetables. Try American Original varieties like U.S. Monterey Jack for melt-in-your-mouth creaminess or U.S. Pepper Jack for a buttery, spicy kick.

    • Add Nutrition, Not Just Flavor

Cheese isn’t just delicious – it’s a great source of protein, calcium, and healthy fats. That means you’re getting real nutritional value with every bite. Aged cheeses are also naturally low in lactose, making them a smart option for those with lactose sensitivity. And as the dairy proteins found in the cheeses contain all the essential amino acids the body needs but can’t make, they also support muscle development and overall wellness.

    • Don’t Forget Dessert

In Filipino cuisine, cheese also shines in dessert. Top a classic puto with melted U.S. Monterey Jack or use smooth, rich U.S. Cream Cheese in your baked treats. For a unique twist, create a dessert cheeseboard featuring U.S. cheddar, gouda, and cream cheese paired with local fruits, nuts, or a cup of tsokolate.

Discover USA Cheese in the Philippines The USA Cheese Guild is committed to making high-quality USA cheeses more accessible to Filipino chefs and consumers. Through partnerships with local importers and retailers, a growing variety of cheeses from the USA is now available in Filipino supermarkets and specialty stores nationwide. Experience the flavor, versatility and quality of USA Cheese in your own kitchen. Follow @cheesefromtheusa.sea on Instagram and Facebook for recipes, tips, and updates.

  • Watsons Bodycare from First Drop to Last Touch: The Glow You Deserve

Watsons Bodycare from First Drop to Last Touch: The Glow You Deserve

In the rush of everyday life, showers often become just another task. It is fast, functional, and often forgettable. But more and more people are rediscovering that body care can go beyond cleansing. It can be a restorative ritual, a small daily ceremony of self-love.

Bodycare from First Drop to Last Touch

A quick shower may clean the body, but a true ritual nurtures it. With just a few simple steps from pre, during, and after your bath, it can become a full-circle moment of self-care that nourishes the skin from start to finish.

Watsons is redefining how we view bath time by encouraging a more holistic approach—one that begins before the first drop of water and continues after the towel is hung. With thoughtfully selected products, your everyday shower can transform into a complete body care experience that is both premium and practical.

    Prepping the Skin

Pre-shower care is like setting the stage, it primes your skin to absorb all the benefits of cleansing and moisturizing.

A few minutes of pampering before stepping into the shower can make all the difference. A silky layer of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Body Oil can help lock in hydration and soften rough patches even before the water hits. For skin that needs a little extra love, Bio-Oil Skincare Oil works beautifully to improve texture and help fade scars or uneven tone over time.

For skin that makes you feel relieved, exfoliation is key. Depending on your skin type, using a salt scrub once or twice a week can remove the dead skin and improve your skin texture. A polish with Fresh Skinlab Milk White Glutaboost Salt Scrub can gently lift away dullness, leaving your skin smoother and ready for the rest of your ritual.

    Cleaning with Care

Your shower is where cleansing meets comfort. Choosing the right products can help refresh your skin without stripping it.

Think of your shower as a two-step cleansing routine, it ensures extra protection from germs and bacteria. Start with soap bars that lift impurities and target uneven spots, like GlutaMAX Lightening Soap. Then follow up with a nourishing body wash, such as Safeguard Lemon Fresh Body Wash, to keep skin fresh and hydrated. For oily skin types, or if you simply prefer a lighter feel, a gel-based option like Watsons Naturals Coffee Shower Gel offers a refreshing cleanse with an invigorating scent.

    Locking in the Goodness

The moments after you step out of the bath are just as important as the cleansing itself, it’s when your skin is most receptive to hydration.

A lightweight layer of DOVE Radiant + Care Dry Serum Niacinamide + Ceramides Deodorant keeps underarms comfortable and even-toned, especially for sensitive skin. One simple way to make your lotion work harder is to apply it right after bathing, while your skin is still slightly damp, this helps lock in moisture and boosts absorption. Formulas like NIVEA Extra Bright 10 Super Vitamins Serum and SkinWhite Glutathione Lotion work beautifully in this step, leaving skin nourished, radiant, and cared for throughout the day.

When the weather calls for extra freshness, Snake Prickly Heat Cooling Powder provides a crisp, cooling sensation that keeps you comfortable even in the warmest afternoons.

A New Way to Care for the Whole Body

Caring for your body goes beyond soap and water, it is about honoring every inch, from the most exposed to the often-forgotten. By adding in small, purposeful steps before and after your bath, you create a ritual that doesn’t just cleanse but restores, hydrates, and uplifts. These 10 essentials turn the everyday shower into a moment you look forward to, one that leaves your skin healthier, your senses refreshed, and your confidence renewed long after stepping out of the shower.

Want to experience the complete ritual in real life? Join us at the Watsons Bath & Body Event “Celebrate Every Body, Every Glow,” on September 5 at the MOA 7 Storefront, where you’ll get to discover these products firsthand, receive self-care tips from wellness experts, and learn how to build a routine that works for your body, your time, and your lifestyle.

Stock up on your bath and body essentials and shop now at the nearest Watsons Store nationwide, or download the Watsons App via App Store or Google Play, become a Watsons Club member, and stay updated on more bath and body care product sales. Because self-care doesn’t have to be complicated, it just has to be intentional.

  • “The Conjuring: Last Rites” Is a Bittersweet Farewell, Say James Wan and Filmmakers, Opens September 3 in Cinemas

“The Conjuring: Last Rites” Is a Bittersweet Farewell, Say James Wan and Filmmakers, Opens September 3 in Cinemas

    Horror Royalty Says Farewell

When James Wan and Peter Safran first brought The Conjuring to life back in 2013, they were simply hoping to create one terrifyingly great ghost story—something fans hadn’t seen in years. What they sparked, however, was the birth of a modern horror phenomenon.

Now, after nearly a decade and nine unforgettable films, The Conjuring Universe officially closes its doors with The Conjuring: Last Rites, premiering in Philippine cinemas on September 3.

    Watch the Trailer Here:

From a Single Scare to a Global Horror Legacy

Reflecting on the franchise’s legacy, producer Peter Safran says the original goal was never to build a universe—it was to tell one phenomenal story.

“We just wanted to make one great movie,” shares Peter Safran, producer of “The Conjuring: Last Rites” and all the other previous eight movies in the franchise. “And so, we’re really proud to be here 14 years later, with all of the tremendous commercial and critical successes that these films have had… I believe you’re always conflicted by the end of something beautiful – I feel happy and sad. But with the series, I’m happy to have been involved with such an amazing group of artists, and that we’ve all gotten to end this journey on a high note.”

Wan on Wrapping Up: “It’s the Right Time”

For James Wan, who directed the first two Conjuring films and served as a producer across the franchise, Last Ritesmarks more than just a film—it’s a farewell to a creative family.

CLR FP 052 High Res JPEG custom proxy

“For me, ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ is pretty much the end of an era and, because of that, it’s somewhat bittersweet,’ says Wan. “We’ve had such a good time making these films, because it feels like such a family unit. But like all good things… I think we’re finishing up at the right time. It feels like this movie is a good way to wrap up the world, at least for now. It’s been over a decade with the ‘Conjuring’ Universe. I’ve made many acquaintances who’ve become long-term friends.”

Why Fans Fell in Love: Vera & Patrick’s Powerful Onscreen Bond

Ask any Conjuring fan and they’ll tell you—it’s not just the scares that kept them coming back. It was the heart. And that heart has always been Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, portraying real-life paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren.

“Vera and Patrick have always been the center of these movies,” says Wan. “They have such a great relationship, onscreen and off – they’re such good friends. I think that really comes across and the audience sees how authentic it is. I think it brings much more reality to the characters that they play. It’s a big part of why fans out there love these films. I have always said, ‘They come for the fright and the scares, but they really stick around for Vera and Patrick.’

CLR TRL 030 High Res JPEG custom proxy

Director Michael Chaves, who helmed The Devil Made Me Do It and The Nun II, echoes this admiration:

“The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” and 2023’s “The Nun II”: “I’ve been so lucky to be part of the ‘Conjuring Universe.’ Saying goodbye to this experience – and to the friends I’ve made along the way – has been really emotional. Vera and Patrick have always been our secret weapon. They’re the heart and soul of these films, and it’s their talent and who they are as people that have shaped these movies from the start. These films ended up being family stories in a way not a lot of people expected – big family stories with plenty of scares.”

What to Expect in The Conjuring: Last Rites

Set against the backdrop of a chilling real-life case, The Conjuring: Last Rites brings Ed and Lorraine Warren back for their most emotional investigation yet. It’s a final stand against evil, and a touching tribute to the characters that defined an era.

Saying Goodbye to the Dark—and the Light

As the team prepares to send the franchise off, there’s a profound sense of gratitude. The Conjuring films not only redefined horror, they also nurtured long-lasting friendships and collaborations.

The Last Case Begins September 3

The Conjuring: Last Rites isn’t just the ninth installment in a record-breaking saga—it’s the final word in a story that’s terrified, moved, and inspired millions.

So if you’ve laughed nervously, screamed in fear, or cried over Ed and Lorraine’s love story… this one’s for you.

Get Ready for Paws and Play— “Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie” Opens in Cinemas September 24

Hold on to your kitty ears—Gabby’s Dollhouse is coming to theaters!

For the very first time, the magical world of Gabby and her feline friends leaps off the small screen and into cinemas with Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie, landing in Philippine theaters this September 24. Based on the globally adored streaming series, this cinematic adventure is purr-fect for families looking for heart, humor, and a whole lot of glitter.

    GDH purple

From Cozy Cuddles to Cat Francisco Chaos

Laila Lockhart Kraner returns as the vibrant and ever-curious Gabby, who embarks on a whimsical road trip to Cat Francisco with her Grandma Gigi—brought to life by none other than music icon and four-time Grammy Award winner Gloria Estefan. But what starts as a fun getaway takes a wild turn when Gabby’s most treasured possession, her dollhouse, is mysteriously stolen by the eccentric cat lady Vera, played by comedic powerhouse Kristen Wiig.

To save her dollhouse and reunite with her fuzzy friends, Gabby must leap into the real world and bring the Gabby Cats back together. It’s a race against time—and fur!

    Watch the Trailer Here:

A DreamWorks First: Bigger, Bolder, and Brimming with Heart

With 11 successful seasons under its belt, the series’ leap to the silver screen feels like a natural next step. DreamWorks Animation President Maggie Cohn describes the movie as “an imaginative, interactive, in-theater experience” and proudly marks it as the studio’s first-ever hybrid feature film.

“Gabby’s Dollhouse is filled with endless creativity and imagination, playing out in a deeply imagined world,” Cohn says. “Combine this with a director with a vision and a passionate fanbase wanting more from the franchise, and we had a great start for our movie.”

Meet the Heart Behind the Magic: Director Ryan Crego

Director Ryan Crego, himself a dad of three little Gabby fans, brings a deeply personal touch to the project.

“Living in a house of Gabby fans—I have three small kids who are obsessed—it was super important to me to retain the charm, character and copious amounts of glitter that have made Gabby’s such a success,” Crego says. “All while striving to give the audience (and parents) a heightened, interactive experience, unlike anything that we have seen in the modern-day movie going era. We pushed for a much bigger journey, full of surprises and a heartfelt character arc that would only be possible given the length and structure of a feature-length film. It is a big responsibility to take one of the most successful original shows in the kids’ space of the last decade and make a movie out of it. There is so much that is great about Gabby’s Dollhouse, you just do not want to break it. Make no mistake, this is not a tv special; this is Gabby and the Gabby Cats on their biggest big screen adventure yet!”

But this isn’t just a supersized episode—it’s a full cinematic experience.:

“We wanted this to be a child’s first cinematic adventure,” Crego says. “One that has joy and music and silliness, yes, but also a sense of emotional weight and momentum.”

More Than Just Kid Fun—A Family Affair

Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie doesn’t just cater to kids. It speaks to parents and grandparents, too.

“As adults, we often lose touch with that sense of play,” Crego says. “This movie is about rediscovering it and holding on to it. It is a message not just for kids, but for their parents and grandparents too.”

    Cohn adds:

“This is DreamWorks Animation’s first hybrid feature,” Cohn says. “But it is more than that. It is an imaginative, interactive, in-theater experience, and I cannot wait to see kids and their families singing, dancing and ‘pinch pinching’ along.”

    Crego adds:

“I hope kids leave the theater inspired to create and sing and play, and that they are left with the reminder that creativity is not something you outgrow. It evolves and deepens and, if we are lucky, it never leaves us.”

“A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” – A Romantic Fantasy That Redefines Time, Love, and Possibility

What if you could revisit your past to reimagine your future? In the upcoming romantic fantasy A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, Academy Award nominees Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell team up for the first time to explore this very question—wrapped in a story bursting with heart, wonder, and unexpected twists.

Opening in Philippine cinemas this September 17, this original film from visionary filmmaker Kogonada (After Yang, Columbus) invites viewers on a visually stunning and emotionally resonant experience unlike anything seen before.

A Wedding. A Door. A Journey Beyond the Ordinary.

Robbie and Farrell play Sarah and David, strangers who meet at a mutual friend’s wedding and are whisked away—quite literally—on an extraordinary adventure through doors that open into pivotal moments of their pasts. But these aren’t just nostalgic flashbacks. Each door offers a chance to relive, reckon, and reshape what they once thought was set in stone.

“I love the theatre of doors. When I see a door on a theatrical stage, it always sparks the imagination. That door has the potential to lead us anywhere – into the mundane or the magical. Doors represent possibilities. They are inherently mysterious. Opening a door, literally and figuratively, means entering a new space, a new experience, a new moment in your life,” director Kogonada explains.

Romance, Humor, Drama—and a Hint of Magic

Written by Seth Reiss, co-writer of The Menu, the film blends genres with effortless charm.

“I liked that we can’t put the film into a box, yet it feels relatable,” Reiss explains. “It’s a story about two people and their deficiencies and evolving love story, and everyone can relate to that. Then it’s all filtered through this high concept of their magical adventure. The characters of David (Farrell) and Sarah (Robbie) and their romance are like the cake of the movie, and the magical realism is the icing.”

As Kogonada puts it, “The characters are real, their connection is palpable, and when you add a touch of cinematic wonder, it elevates everything.”

An On-Screen Duo That Lights Up the Screen

Kogonada praises the undeniable chemistry between Robbie and Farrell, saying:

“It’s the kind of film I would want to watch in a packed theater,” Kogonada states. “It’s surprising and original with two compelling actors – Margot and Colin – at the peak of their craft. They light up the screen together.”

A Cinematic Experience That Stays With You

With originality at its core, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is about the kinds of stories that linger long after the credits roll. It’s romantic without being predictable, magical without losing emotional depth, and deeply human in its reflections.

“I wanted to make something that was original and had a scale that reflected my love for a certain kind of cinematic experience. The kind I experienced when I was younger that would leave me both delighted and moved and would stay with me for days upon days.”
