  • Davao Conyo & Yumi Share Their Internet Success Stories at SKY Fiber’s Swak na Swak Launch

Internet sensation and popular TikTok content creators Phillip Hernandez, a.k.a. Davao Conyo who is known for his funny skits, and Yumi, one of TikTok’s biggest bird moms, unpacked their journey to fame and factors that affect their success during SKY Fiber’s “Swak Na Swak” Media Launch event.

SKY Fiber Chat with Davao Conyo and Yumi 1

For online sensations Yumi and Phillip, who have been creating content for about four years already, the internet definitely has a major impact in their life as they earn from the branded videos they post on social media platforms, Facebook and TikTok.

SKY Fiber Chat with Davao Conyo and Yumi 2

Phillip, who currently has 3.8 million collective followers on Facebook and TikTok for his ‘smooth promotion’ comedy skits as Davao Conyo, has a knack for performing ever since he was young.

Around late 2017, he posted a funny ‘conyo’ Bisaya dub of the popular Filipino movie, “Four Sisters And A Wedding,” on a whim.  After gaining thousands of views, he started to understand what people wanted to watch and continued experimenting with his videos.

“I started with dubs because I was too shy to show my face. But as I received overwhelming support from people watching my videos, I continued creating more and eventually began making skits as well,” Phillip shared.

SKY Fiber Chat with Davao Conyo and Yumi 3

Yumi, on the other hand, was simply exploring TikTok in 2018 and decided to post videos of her daily life and experiences for fun. The first video that gained a lot of attention from netizens was a relatable rant about her love life. Now, she is regularly pushing out vlog-style content about her life updates, interests, and adorable pet birds to 4 million TikTok followers.

“I was just bored back then. While scrolling on my phone, I discovered the app TikTok where you can share videos as short as 15 seconds. I immediately thought this had potential to grow and was excited to try it out,” she said.

Both Phillip and Yumi also emphasized that an internet plan that suits their lifestyle is vital to their career and daily life.

SKY Fiber recently launched Super Speed Plans that cater to an everyday internet user’s need for plans with the right mix of affordability, ample speed, and seamless connectivity. Subscribers will no longer have to choose between expensive high-speed plans and unreliable low-cost plans as SKY Fiber Super Speed Plans can satisfy their internet needs.

James Dumlao, SKY’s head of Consumer Product, Programming, and Airtime Group, said during the event, “The internet has weaved itself into our daily lives. Hence, a good quality internet connection has become a necessity. ’Internet is life’ as many would say. Because of this, we at SKY Fiber have committed to continuously deliver better products and services for the markets that we serve.”

“The ‘swak’ internet for me is one where I can get fast connection anywhere in my house. That’s important for my daily life as a content creator and business owner that regularly works from home,” Yumi shared.

Phillip agreed and recalled when he was frustrated with their family’s old internet connection at home because it didn’t reach his room on the second floor, where he works. This prompted him to switch to SKY Fiber because it ticked all his requirements of speed, seamless connectivity, and, most especially, affordable price.

“I switched to SKY Fiber a few months ago and I haven’t had regrets ever since. Kasi swak na internet, swak sa budget. After all, I’m a very budget-conscious person and I pay for my own internet subscription plan,” he added.

SKY Fiber Plan 50Mbps with free speed boost of up to 75Mbps

According to SKY’s head of Consumer Broadband Alan Supnet, one of SKY Fiber’s best value plans is the 50Mbps Plan which can easily support work-from-home, online class, and casual streaming activities of a family with three to four members. For a monthly fee of just P1,699/month, subscribers also get two free WiFi Mesh devices for better WiFi coverage in the house.

A wide array of Super Speed Plans with affordable prices is available for any lifestyle. Light internet users who are budget-conscious can opt for the most affordable Unli Broadband Plans of up to 20Mbps (P999/month) and the basic Plan 30 Mbps (P1,299/month). On the other hand, moderate to heavy internet users or households with more members can choose from the higher speed but inexpensive plans of 100Mbps (P2,299/month), 150Mbps (P2,799/month), and 200Mbps (P3,499/month).

For those that want to enhance their overall entertainment set-up at home and save on monthly expenses, they can check SKY Fiber’s bundled Unli Broadband + HD Cable TV Plans. Aside from getting reliable speeds of up to 40Mbps (P1,699/month), 80Mbps (P2,499/month), and 150Mbps (P2,999/month), they can also enjoy limitless content via SKYcable channels and streaming apps such as HBO GO, iWantTFC, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, and Spotify.

Subscribers of these new plans from today until April 30 can easily switch to SKY Fiber and take advantage of the free or lowered installation fee promo. Select plans are also given additional boosted speeds of up to 50% until the end of April for free so that subscribers can have a levelled-up experience without added cost to their monthly fee.

SKY Fiber is available for residents in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Baguio, Cebu, Dumaguete, Bacolod, Iloilo, Davao, GenSan, and Zamboanga.

  • Conrad Manila & CCP Unveils ‘Of Art and Wine’ Print Exhibit

Conrad Manila proudly presents its curtain raiser for 2022, the latest installment of its highly-acclaimed ‘Of Art and Wine’ art exhibit at the hotel’s Gallery C, this time featuring the works of the Association of Pinoyprintmakers (AP) in cooperation with The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).

“We are delighted to celebrate both our successful 5th year of operations and market leadership through the continued patronage of our guests and resiliency of our team, together with the 50th Year Anniversary of the CCP,” shares Linda Pecoraro, hotel general manager, adding “we recognize the CCP’s continued passion and pursuit of Filipino artistry and excellence together with the Association of Pinoyprintmakers, as we hope to inspire others in our continued recovery as one nation.”

Conrad Manila Of Art and Wine

Linda stated that “’20/30 Of Art and Wine exhibit underscores Conrad Manila’s commitment in providing guests with inspired stays in a world of style and infinite connections through Filipino hospitality and culture, and champions the Filipino artists by providing a haven for creative expression and true artistry.”

Leading the “Of Art and Wine: 20/30” art exhibit opening are: Elizabeth Sy, President, SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation (SMHCC); Peggy Angeles, Executive Vice President, SMHCC; Ms. Margie Moran Floirendo, Chairperson, CCP; Arsenio Lizaso, President, CCP; Chris Millado, Vice President and Artistic Director, CCP; Benjie Torrado Cabrera, President, AP; and Linda Pecoraro, General Manager, Conrad Manila.

The print portfolio comes in two special sets, a collection of fine prints using traditional printmaking techniques by noted artists who have contributed to the development of Philippine contemporary printmaking. Each serves a precious collectible for patrons of Philippine art.

Included in the folios are exquisite artworks in relief printing, intaglio and serigraph printing. There are woodcut prints by Ambie Abaño and Elmer Borlongan, and rubbercuts by Leonard Aguinaldo, Hershey Malinis, Manuel Ocampo, Jonathan Olazo, Suchin Teoh and the late Neil Doloricon. It also includes a special restrike of a woodcut work by the late Rod Paras Perez dated 1963.

Renan Ortiz and Radel Paredes created highly detailed drypoint prints while Fil Delacruz’s work makes use of mezzotint and engraving, with portions made using a special etching technique, combining both acid and non-acid intaglio processes in one print. 20/30 contains etchings by National Artist BenCab, Alfredo Juan Aquilizan, Virgilio Aviado, Joey Cobcobo, Janos Delacruz, Jess Flores, Eugene Jarque, Henrielle Baltazar Pagkaliwangan, and the late Rhoda Recto. The etching of Juvenal Sansó is a restrike from a plate made by the artist in 1962. Also included are prints that combine both etching and aquatint, as seen in the works of Benjie Torrado Cabrera, Imelda Cajipe Endaya, Yas Doctor, Raul Isidro, Villia Jefremovas, Angelo Magno, Caroline Ongpin and Anton Villaruel. Lenore RS Lim also makes use of the sugarlift process on top of etching and aquatint.

Collographs, on the other hand, can be created through the relief or intaglio process, as seen in Kristen Cain’s work for 20/30. The emboss method, which may be more familiar to many, is also a type of printmaking technique, however unlike the rest, it does not require ink for an image to appear. The work of Christina Quisumbing Ramilo is an expertly done emboss based on an installation piece by the artist.

Serigraphy, possibly the most widely used among printing techniques, is a method of printing that uses a mesh over a stretched frame. 20/30 includes serigraph prints by Mars Bugaoan, Salvador Ching, Noell EL Farol, Rodolfo Samonte, Jun-Jun Sta. Ana and Wesley Valenzuela.

“Of Art and Wine: 20/30” at Conrad Manila’s Gallery C runs until April 2, 2022. The exhibit opening is presented in partnership with the Philippine Wine Merchants. • Rising Rapper HERO Keeps Slaying with Song ‘Primera’

Since becoming a part of the Universal Records artist roster, Hero is slowly but surely becoming a highly respected MC in the local hip-hop scene. And as someone who changes the rap game little by little, he’s also trying to use some detractors and doubters along the way as fuel to keep on slaying.

    Hero Primera 1

With this, he brushes off negative criticisms rappers usually get and crafts a masterful track called “Primera” released under Universal Records. Staying true to his wonderful creativity, this single is another product of his teamwork with producer Russel “Goodson” Tiquia.

The two-minute song is packed with bars that further prove that he’s such a talented wordsmith. It’s short but sweet & angsty at the same time. “Primera” is his brave take to turn those doubters to believers while keeping it real. It’s also a great tune to inspire people to shoot for the stars and let nothing hold you back.

    Hero Primera 6

The official music video of Hero’s “Primera” is just as striking; artistically filmed at a prominent boxing training gym directed by Aaron Maagma.

It’s high time for you to have Hero on your radar this 2022. Stream “Primera” on your favorite digital platforms right away. The song is also part of New Music Friday Philippines Playlist on Spotify this week!

Stream “Primera” on Spotify , Apple Music, and Audio Clip.
