  • Jollibee Levels Up Joy and ‘Alagang Jollibee’ Service with New Store Innovations

“Jollibee always aims to spread joy to our customers, whether for dine-in, take out, drive-thru, or delivery. We continuously innovate our services to deliver a levelled-up customer experience,” said Jollibee Philippines President Ferns Yu, Jr. “We are piloting new innovations and technology in select stores, and are excited to roll them out to more branches in the future.”

K Dual Lane Drive Thru 1

These innovations complement the company’s signature Alagang Jollibee brand of service. “We’re very proud of our store teams’ trademark warm and joyful service—that’s what sets our teams apart in the fast-food industry. These new features contribute to an even better level of customer convenience, and increased efficiency for our operations as well,” Yu added.

Here are the store innovations to check out at select Jollibee stores:

Jollibots. First on the list is the viral Jollibots which netizens spotted months before in Jollibee’s SM Aura branch in Bonifacio Global City during the pilot stage.  Dining robotics were once considered futuristic, but the Jollibots have now started to serve and delight dine-in customers at Jollibee SM Aura, Taguig and Jollibee Glorietta, Makati. Soon, they’ll be present at Jollibee SM Seaside Cebu as well.

    A Jollibots
Jollibots conveniently dispatch food to customers’ tables, helping out the store team especially during peak hours. These are present in Jollibee SM Aura, Taguig and Jollibee Glorietta, Makati, and soon in Jollibee SM Seaside Cebu.

The Jollibots may be considered as the store team’s on-ground assistants, ready to extend a helping hand in dispatching orders straight to customers’ tables — allowing the crew to focus on other important tasks or attend to special requests of customers especially during peak hours.

“With the Jollibots, our store teams in select stores are experiencing the benefits of serving their customers even more efficiently. While these Jollibots are welcome additions, we have maintained and will continue to keep the same number of crew in these branches as they remain integral to our day-to-day operations and in delivering our Alagang Jollibee brand of service,” Yu shared.

    D Smart Lockers
Jollibee introduced Smart Lockers where customers and aggregator riders can pick up orders safely with zero wait time. These can be found in Jollibee Angono Bayan, Rizal, Jollibee P. Tuazon, Quezon City, and Jollibee Northbay Boulevard, Navotas.

Smart Lockers. Waiting to pick up food orders will soon become a thing of the past, thanks to the new smart lockers. Designed to also complement the convenient Order & Pick up feature of the Jollibee App, this makes the customer’s journey even more seamless and hassle free. Jollibee customers on-the-go can conveniently place their orders via the Jollibee App, then wait for the store to confirm their transaction and inform them of the smart locker pick up process. Once in the store, customers can go directly to the smart locker, key in their order number, and the corresponding locker will automatically open. Orders are guaranteed safe and secure, and there’s zero wait time as well.  Check out the Smart Lockers at Jollibee Angono Bayan, Rizal, Jollibee P. Tuazon, Quezon City, and Jollibee Northbay Boulevard, Navotas.

    H Riders Area 2
Whether it’s peak hour or not, the Rider’s Area in Jollibee GMA Cavite ensures that riders are given a safe and convenient place where they can get customer orders.

Rider’s Area. Where to wait and sit while waiting to pick up your customers’ orders in a jampacked Jollibee store? Riders of aggregator partners servicing GMA Cavite will worry no more as Jollibee’s branch in the said city has a new Rider’s Area—a dedicated and safe waiting and pick-up area where partner riders can rest comfortably as they wait for the orders of their customers. With this, crowding is avoided inside the store especially during peak hours, ensuring the safety of partner riders and customers alike.

    E Al Fresco
Customers can enjoy their meals in an open-air setting Jollibee GMA Cavite’s new and improved al fresco dining area.

Al Fresco Dining. With more people continuing to take extra safety precautions especially when dining out with their family and friends, Jollibee will soon be allotting more floor space for an Al fresco area.  The newest and levelled up al fresco dining area—adorned with nice murals and plants—are already welcoming customers at Jollibee GMA Cavite.

Jollibee president Ferns Yu shares that eating at Jollibee has always been associated with great bonding times in a place where you can be yourself and just feel at home. “So regardless of one’s new dining preference in this new normal, they will be able to continue enjoying the same treasured Jollibee experience over their favorite langhap-sarap meals.”

    J Self Order Kiosk
Self-Order Kiosks, which are available in 129 stores nationwide, allow customers to order their langhap-sarap favorites in 3 easy steps – order, pay, and claim!

Self-Order Kiosks (SOKs). Jollibee first piloted the self-order kiosks or SOKs back in 2018 to provide a faster and more efficient ordering process in stores. Now, more than 300 SOK units are present at 129 Jollibee stores nationwide. With a huge touchscreen menu board, choosing what to eat just became easier. Customers can go cashless and use their debit or credit cards to pay using the SOK terminal, or they can opt to pay cash at the counter. With the SOKs, Jollibee favorites can be enjoyed in just three easy steps – order, pay, and claim!

    K Dual Lane Drive Thru
The Dual Lane Drive-Thru in Jollibee Petron SLEX allows the store to serve more customers and cuts down turnaround time.

Dual-lane Drive-Thru. Jollibee also improves the drive-thru experience with dual lanes, sensors, and food conveyor belts, increasing the store’s drive-thru capacity, shortening the turnaround time for customers, and making dispatching food faster and fuss-free. The Dual-Lane Drive-Thru is present at Jollibee Petron SLEX, Laguna and will soon be experienced by customers at Jollibee Shell SLEX, Laguna. Meanwhile, food conveyor belts are operational and have been making order dispatch even faster at Petron SLEX, Shell C5 Heritage, Taguig, and Ayala Center Cebu branches.

Jon Villanueva, the Vice President of Restaurant Systems of Jollibee, hopes that these new innovations will help customers have an even more enjoyable experience whether they prefer to have their Jollibee favorites in store, at home, or even on the road.

“We’re very excited about these cutting-edge innovations in our stores, some of which are firsts in the local fast-food industry. The future of Joy is here, and we continue to be committed to making our customers’ Alagang Jollibee experience even better as we roll these out in more stores nationwide,” he said.

Learn more about these store and retail innovations by watching Jollibee’s newest Level-Up Joy store campaign video on the Jollibee Facebook page and the Jollibee Philippines YouTube channel.

  • 5th Lourdes Montinola Piña Weaving Competition Invites Artisans To Showcase Talent and Artistry

Calling all piña fabric artisans!  The stage is set for them once again to showcase their unique talents in the art of weaving, dyeing, embroidering, and embellishing piña as the Lourdes Montinola Weaving Competition launches its 5th edition and welcomes new entries from all over the Philippines. The country’s premier piña weaving contest is back and will be one of the highlighted activities  during HABI Philippine Textile Council’s Likhang Habi Market Fair slated October 14-16, 2022. The annual competition seeks to encourage piña weavers to keep to their traditional craft, continue creativity in weaving, and innovate their piña weaving techniques.

“We see weavers coming up with both traditional and innovative techniques, [and these] play a role in strengthening awareness and patronage of piña,” says Lourdes Montinola, founder of the competition, chair emeritus of the Far Eastern University, and author of “Piña,” the 1991 book about the Philippine pineapple textile.

    Perlie

To join, participants must submit a panel that’s at least two meters long. More than 50 percent of the body of the cloth must be made of piña, and must come with a detailed description and a photograph showing the weaver working on his/her entry. Entries must be submitted to the HABI Office, 962 May Street, Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila. Deadline for submission is on Sept. 30, 2022.

As with last year’s competition, the 5th Lourdes Montinola Piña Weaving Competition will give out three major cash prizes: P50,000 for the first-place winner; P30,000 for second; and P20,000 for third.

    Jannalyn Rasonable
3rd Place-“Jannalyn” by Jannalyn Rasonable. Image by Lisa Lorenzo

Major winners from last year’s competition were Jannalyn Rasonable of Elizabeth Rasonable Piña Weaving, who bagged third place with her piña with polyester embroidery titled “Jannalyn”; Perlie Feleciano of La Herminia Piña Weaving, whose “PS Diamond” featuring fine details of the sinuksuk and tablero rengge techniques earned her second place; and first-placer Raquel Eliserio, whose “Sintas” showcased a new method of embellishment of the same name, combined with sinuksuk, in-stripe, and rengge techniques on a mixture of piña, cotton, rayon, and silk.

Two special awards, the Philippine Innovation Award for Textile Innovation and Nadres Award for Outstanding Young Weaver will also be given out, respectively, by Filip + Inna (a fashion brand championed by Len Cabili) and the Nadres family, whose business, for generations, has been the creation of some of the best barong products in the Philippines.

    Carlo Eliserio

Last year, out of the 42 entries which were displayed at the Silverlens Gallery, these two special awards were given, respectively, to 25-year-old Carlo Eliserio from Aklan  for his unique ability to combine different fibers such as piña, cotton, polyester, and silk in his piece titled “Iñigo”; and to 13-year-old Delara Beltran, who used a handloom to create her piece titled “Sampaguita” showcasing the traditional sinuksuk design.

“The surprising thing about the contest is that every year, better and more exquisite pieces are entered. With the Young Weaver Award, it became evident that young people are into practicing the craft, thus ensuring a resurgence and continuity,” says  Habi President Adelaida Lim.

Through this competition, Gino Gonzales, co-author of the fashion history book, “Fashionable Filipinas” and one of last year’s judges, says the country is “reminded of the many possibilities of piña and its design process.”

He adds, “I am reminded of the fact that there are other points of view on what we can wear. They’re not just art forms; they’re things that you want to put on  your body.”

  • RedDoorz Hotels Gives You Some Smart Hacks for Your Next Trip

Data from the Philippine Travel Survey Report 2020 showed that seven out of 10 Filipinos are keen to travel this year  albeit with  health and safety remaining a primary concern Domestic travel  will  play a big role in the recovery of Philippine Tourism. Furthermore, the report said that  travelers plan  to travel close to home with   families, friends, and co-workers in pairs and up to 5 persons. They prefer to use online and digital channels for convenience and reduced contact, budget around P1,000 to P2,000 per person per day for a  trip length of  2 to 3 days.

    RedDoorz EDSA Pasay
    RedDoorz EDSA Pasay

According to the Agoda Travel in 2021 Survey,  meanwhile, domestic travel  will take off with Pinoys opting for short and sweet trips.  F & B benefits, early check-ins and late check-outs are  preferred while deals and discoverability drive the next wave of trip bookings. Thus, giving health and safety, budget and  convenience giving due consideration, here are some smart travel tips from RedDoorz Hotels:

    • Research. Doing initial research about your travel destination—including attractions, must-try dishes, and basic health protocols—will  help assure a seamless journey.
    • Travel light. Try to bring as little as you can and plan your OOTDs wisely, so a smaller luggage will suffice.  You don’t need to bring fancy shoes or bling if you’re heading for a hike.
    • Check the weather.  The weather could make or break your vacation, so be sure to check forecasts days before your trip.  Plan your outfits accordingly and bring that extra windbreaker or a large hat to protect you from the cold or the heat.
    • Be prepared for any emergency.  Bring extra cash for meals in case your flight gets delayed and pack a first aid kit or needed medication.
    • Follow your passion.  If you’re a foodie, sign up for walking food tours or go during food festivals.  You might want to ask about  popular local fare and have a taste of it for the first time. Are you a photographer? Research about the most popular and authentic places, architecture, landscapes, and views so you could have subjects to add to your portfolio.
    • Seek out the road less traveled. Don’t limit yourself to popular tourist destinations. Go off the beaten path where you could discover quaint neighborhood hangout spots, a hidden stretch with artistic murals along back streets, or factories that offer unique handmade souvenirs.  Be audacious!  Explore!
    • Design a budget and stick to it.  Traveling within a budget does not necessarily mean having an austere travel experience. If you have travel rewards program, use it.  Choose your activities wisely, including meals, ridesharing, and group discounts.  Look for budget-friendly flights.
    • Choose smart, budget-friendly yet decent  accommodation.   No one wants to pay a fortune for accommodations.  Book stay at any of the over 400 RedDoorz properties located nationwide and key cities, Manila, Batangas, Cebu, Tacloban and Boracay. Each RedDoorz room is fully-equipped for a comfortable stay, with standardized amenities including free wifi, clean spotless rooms, comfy beds, TV and daily mineral water. • Family Recipes Inspire Tinapayan Festival to Recreate Favorite Desserts for its Customers

Over the past years, it has been known that Filipinos not only enjoy consuming food but are also avid chefs and bakers when it comes to cooking for their loved ones Tinapayan Festival, a local bakeshop in Manila offering soft and sweet baked products for over 40 years, is no stranger to that.

    Adelaidas Torte
Tinapayan Festival’s Adelaida’s Torte is a tribute to its founder Lucito ‘Chito’ Chavez’ late mother, Adelaida “Diday” Chavez.

While the bakeshop’s patrons come back for its bestsellers like ensaimada, cheese rolls, eclairs, napoleones, and its slew of over 200 baked products, nothing stops them from sharing and recreating family recipes so that more Filipinos can enjoy delectable treats made from the heart.

“It was always a dream of ours to share what we have not only in the knowledge and skills in baking but as well as the family recipes we have grown to love. Our customers are very dear to us and our growth, so it is just right to share products that are inspired by our own family recipes and memories,” shares Lucito ‘Chito’ Chavez, Founder and General Manager of Tinapayan Festival.

    Fit for a Queen

In 2020, Tinapayan Festival offered for the first time its bestselling Queen’s Chocolate Cake, which was launched at a time when Mother’s Day was just around the corner. It is made with the finest Couverture chocolate and the highest quality cream. The team behind Tinapayan Festival answered a growing need for celebratory cakes during Mother’s Day when the Philippines underwent its first lockdown back in 2020.

    Queens Chocolate Cake
    Queen’s Chocolate Cake

“When most of the local bakeries across Manila closed shop in 2020, we had to stay open to serve the community in need. We received a lot of inquiries for special cakes and thought why not create a premium chocolate cake befitting a queen for our deserving mothers. Using premium chocolate depicts how special our mothers are for us and we knew that our customers would love it, too,” says Potenciano Clarito Chavez, Operations Manager of Tinapayan Festival.

Aside from it being created in honor of Queen Elizabeth, this premium chocolate cake was also made in honor of the hard work, commitment, and love the family had for Maribel “Belen” C. Chavez, one of the co-founders of Tinapayan Festival and the wife of Chito.

    Celebrating Fond Memories

It’s not enough to just celebrate with good food. Oftentimes in Filipino culture, celebrating a small or big win, a birthday, anniversary, or anything else for that matter entails having a great dessert to top of a joyous occasion. This month, Tinapayan Festival launches its Adelaida’s Torte, its special torte made of meringue with chopped nuts, filled with chocolate ganache using premium quality couverture chocolate, butter icing, and caramel, and topped off with rich butter icing made specifically for the dessert.

Inspired and a tribute to the founder’s late mother, Adelaida “Diday” B. Chavez, who loved planting cacao beans that were later then made into local Batangas tablea the family gave out as gifts to friends and relatives back in the day. It was just recently when the Chavez family decided to create a chocolate torte taking inspiration from Nanay Diday’s love for chocolate.

    Nothing beats family recipes

Meals are much more special when based on recipes that have been passed down by ancestors. The legacy they leave behind remains in delectable treats and baked goods that leave the heart and tummy happy.

    Nanay Didays Polvoron
    Nanay Diday’s Special Polvoron

This month, Tinapayan Festival revives its special polvoron now dubbed, Nanay Diday’s Special Polvoron, which was based on Nanay Diday’s homemade polvoron recipe and features full cream powder, which complements all the other ingredients and ensures that each flavor is tasted by consumers.

Nanay Diday was known back in the 60s for molding polvoron using her hulma purchased in Escolta. This specific hulma was used by her family up until the late 80s and was kept as a reminder for the family for all the years Nanay Diday gave to creating handmade polvoron that she served not only to her family but to close friends as well. This time around, the bakeshop has improved on the traditional family recipe to introduce this special polvoron.

    Supporting Local Farmers

Planting has been one of Nanay Diday’s hobbies in the past. One staple agricultural product she time and time again planted and used for her recipes was the all-time Filipino favorite, ube.

    Ube Loaf
    Ube Loaf

Growing up exposed to ube being incorporated and cooked as a staple dessert at home, Chito was inspired in the early 2000s to create and incorporate this agricultural crop into their soft and sweet breads at Tinapayan Festival. Two of the products they created inspired by Nanay Diday’s love for ube are Tinapayan Festival’s Ube Loaf and Ube Twirl.

The Ube Loaf is the bakeshop’s twist to the soft and moist bread with real ube halaya, low protein flour, eggs, milk, and refined sugar. Meanwhile, the Ube Twirl features real ube halaya filling, perfect for those on-the-go and want something that’s ready and easy to eat any time of the day.

When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a rag-tag shelter pack—Ace the hound, PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel—to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the Super Heroes.

Stern, a veteran writer/consultant on the “LEGO®” movies, makes his animated feature film directorial debut, directing from a screenplay he wrote with frequent collaborator John Whittington, based on characters from DC, Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The film is produced by Patricia Hicks, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia and Jared Stern. The executive producers are John Requa, Glenn Ficarra, Nicholas Stoller, Allison Abbate, Chris Leahy, Sharon Taylor and Courtenay Valenti.

  • Supercharge Your Skin with this Breakthrough Combo: Hyaluronic Acid + Marula Oil

Hyaluronic acid and marula oil are the hottest actives in modern skincare. If used independently, each ingredient can give your skin nourishment. Put them together, and their benefits complement each other to bring out your best skin that will make you feel sexy from within!

    Avon Skin So Soft

Hyaluronic Acid, or Hyaluronan, is naturally produced by the body and is mostly found in the skin. Its main function is to retain water in your skin layers—when kept at optimal levels, it helps retain moisture and suppleness in the skin, speeds up healing, and has anti-bacterial properties.

On the other hand, Marula Oil is a newcomer in the beauty oil market and is native to South Africa. It contains antioxidants, amino and fatty acids that have anti-aging, anti-UV, and anti-dryness benefits, which makes it perfect for those living in tropical countries like the Philippines.

AVON Skin So Soft Super Charged

While either ingredient can work effectively from one another, you can still enjoy both and get their benefits through the NEW Avon Skin So Soft Supercharged Multivitamin Hand & Body Lotion with SPF 6 that also nourishes your skin with essential vitamins up to 10 layers deep!

MultiVitamin Charged Complex provides essential building blocks like Vitamins A, B3, B5, C, and E—all of which help maintain intense nourishment and protection for your skin.

To ensure these sexifying vitamins and ingredients stay with you, Deep Absorb Technology helps penetrate through the skin’s 10 layers for deep hydration and nourishment to bring out that healthy and sexy skin from within.

Finally, through HydroBoost Technology, every application of Avon Skin So Soft Supercharged Multivitamin Hand & Body Lotion with SPF 6 ensures a healthy dose of Hyaluronic Acid and Marula Oil that instantly locks in and boosts moisture.
