“Creed III” The First Sports Movie Shot on IMAX Cameras

From Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures comes “Creed III,” with Michael B. Jordan making his directorial debut and returning in the role of Adonis Creed in the third installment of the hit franchise. The film also stars Tessa Thompson, Jonathan Majors, Wood Harris, Florian Munteanu, newcomer Mila Kent, and Phylicia Rashad.

After dominating the boxing world, Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) has been thriving in both his career and family life. When a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy, Damian (Jonathan Majors), resurfaces after serving a long sentence in prison, he is eager to prove that he deserves his shot in the ring. The face-off between former friends is more than just a fight. To settle the score, Adonis must put his future on the line to battle Damian – a fighter who has nothing to lose.

To enhance the emotions as well as the action for the audience, Jordan and director of photography Kramer Morgenthau, who also lensed “Creed II,” opted to film with IMAX-certified digital cameras and utilize IMAX-exclusive expanded aspect ratio—with up to 26 percent more picture. Thus, the third installment in the “Creed” franchise became the first sports-based film included in the Filmed for IMAX program.

Jordan and Morgenthau embraced IMAX technology—already known to transport audiences beyond the edge of their seats thanks to their massive screens, precision audio and unique auditorium design—and pushed the boundaries of filmmaking to provide moviegoers with a differentiated experience that will allow them to become completely immersed in the story, taking in every bead of sweat and feeling the impact of every punch.

Morgenthau says, “It was really exciting to be able to integrate the IMAX cameras into the filmmaking process, especially the way we used them to open the world up and to make it very immersive and visceral for the flight sequences. And that’s how we chose to use it; there was just something very magical, especially the scene at Dodger Stadium, where MBJ is walking out onto the field and the image aspect ratio expands in shot and the black bars recede, and you get this really tall, beautiful, powerful image. It just elevates everything, there is just something hyperreal about it. And to be the first sports movie doing that, it was a creative high.”

Jordan sums up by confirming that for audiences, “This is a movie to see on the big screen! The fights, the action, you want to see that up close and personal, you want to feel every punch, hear every impact, see every drip of sweat and drop of blood. This is a movie that will make you laugh, cry, and cheer! I want everybody to walk away feeling good, thinking, ‘Man, that was a ride!’”

“The Flash” Unveils Official Character Posters for Batman, Supergirl

Barbie Almalbis reunites with former bands, Hungry Young Poets and Barbie’s Cradle for a 25^th Anniversary concert

Filipino alt-rock icon Barbie Almalbis celebrates her 25th year in the music industry with a concert chronicling her career as an artist who helped build Pinoy rock into what it is today: borderless and always evolving, shattering the assumption that the movement is “a Man’s Man’s World.”

Aptly titled Firewoman: 25 Years of Barbie Almalbis, the show will reunite two of her supergroups, Hungry Young Poets and Barbie’s Cradle for a special moment filled with vigor, nostalgia, and appreciation. Almalbis will be performing some of the biggest and most notable hits of her career in three separate sets: as a frontwoman of the aforementioned bands, and as a solo artist who managed to make a name for herself.

“While this is truly a dream for me, it was GNN Entertainment Productions who first believed it could happen and conceptualized the show,” the Tabing Ilog hitmaker reveals. “We reached out Ricci Gurango, Franklin Benitez, Rommel de la Cruz, Wendell Garcia, and Kakoy Legaspi, and we’re delighted that they were all excited to do it too. Ricci, who now lives in the US, is coming home to the Philippines for the show.”

Firewoman: 25 Years of Barbie Almalbis was conceived last year to honor the award-winning singer-songwriter’s contribution to OPM, and to celebrate her staying power with anthems that proved to be impactful to listeners of all ages.

“I’m just so excited to play alongside some of my old friends, who also happen to be some my favorite musicians,” Almalbis shares in an official press statement. “We have so many great memories, making music, touring, and growing up together. They’ve taught me so much over the years. I’m just so grateful for this opportunity to jam with all of them on the show. I’m also looking forward to sharing the stage with many other artists I admire.”

The event is set to take place at 123 Block in Mandala Park on Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 2 p.m. onwards. It will also feature performances by some of the country’s finest acts, including Sandwich, Gab Alipe of Urbandub, Clara Benin, I Belong To The Zoo, Kai del Rio, and Bird.

Almalbis also attributes her success as a musician, a woman, and a person of influence to her team’s dedication and hard work.

She adds, “I’m so grateful to still be playing, making music, and enjoying it a lot. It helps that I’m not doing it alone: my husband, who also loves music, helps me, especially during times when I find it hard to write. He’s a constant sounding board for ideas. Our daughter Stina has been joining in a lot lately too. I’m also so grateful for an excellent team: our manager Tommy, road manager Morris, and the band: Karel, Nikko, and Jonard. And of course, the one who holds the whole thing together. So much of my career was something I didn’t plan, so I always do my best to look to God and follow where he takes me. Music is such a gift; I’m praying I get to do it until I’m old and gray.”

But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

The film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter and Maria Bakalova.

Feel the joy of love as told by two couples in the much awaited Valentine’s Day edition of #MyKwentongJollibee

“The Mandalorian” Primer: What you need to know before Season 3 debuts

The past two seasons have garnered critical acclaim and are enjoyed by new and long-time Star Wars fans alike. As the New Republic struggles to keep the peace together, The Mandalorian must meet with old allies and face new enemies while he and Grogu explore the galaxy.

Before the new season starts, here are some things you need to know to get up to speed.

The story so far

The first season of The Mandalorian begins with the story of the titular character (Din Djarin), a space bounty hunter who takes on contracts to kill or capture targets. He is tasked to hunt down The Child/Grogu, a mysterious youngling. Upon meeting The Child, The Mandalorian decides to go on the run and not honor the contract. This leads to a journey that becomes a fight for survival as they try to take down The Client, the man responsible for putting up the contract.

This ends with them making an enemy out of Moff Gideon, who was a part of the Galactic Empire that once ruled the galaxy. The Mandalorian and the Child then formed a new clan as they set off on a journey to learn more about the latter’s true origins.

In the second season, Grogu is abducted by the enemy. This leads to a dramatic rescue and a fight between Din Djarin and Moff Gideon, which ends with Djarin getting a weapon called the Darksaber and saving Grogu. The end of the second season saw Grogu wanting to train to become a Jedi. He then bids Din Djarin goodbye in an emotional farewell.

Grogu’s origin and powers

Grogu is one of the show’s biggest stars. We learned more about his abilities and origin story in the second season. His name was revealed by Ahsoka Tano, along with his past as a Jedi in training. We also see Grogu become more comfortable using his powers and abilities, even helping Din Djarin during fights. They include telepathy, telekinesis, healing wounds, calming beasts, and even masking his own abilities to protect himself.

While the second season shared more information about Grogu’s origins, the mystery of who rescued him when he was younger remains.

Who will claim the Darksaber?

A legendary weapon from Din Djarin’s home planet of Mandalore, its holder can claim the right to rule the planet. Realizing the power that this weapon holds, he has the choice to stake his claim. However, Bo-Katan, one of his trusted allies, is Mandalore’s rightful heir and needs the Darksaber
