Ready your energy as we move to a more nostalgic vibe and a more vantage-point venue for the upcoming Dream Theater concert.
In an announcement made by Ovation Productions on April 29, 2023, on their social media accounts, Dream Theater’s upcoming Manila concert will now be moved to the New Frontier Theater. The concert is happening on May 4, 2023, and it will be a more exclusive experience for all the DT fans as they celebrate their reunion up-close with the band.
The Grammy-winning progressive metal band composed of James LaBrie, John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess, John Myung, and Mike Mangini were very excited to perform live again in the Philippines for the second time.
The New Frontier Theater is a very sentimental place to both Dream Theater and their fans, as they were able to have their first-ever intimate rock-and-roll night together in the venue last September 25, 2017, during their concert tour. The tour was part of the 25th-anniversary celebration of their 1992 studio album “Images and Words”.
Now, they are returning to the country for their “Top of the World Tour” to treat their fans as they perform the songs live from their new album “A View From The Top Of The World.” The tracks included in the album are: The Alien (9:32), Answering The Call (7:35), Invisible Monster (6:31), Sleeping Giant (10:05), Transcending Time (6:25), Awaken The Master (9:47), and A View From The Top Of The World (20:24).
Meanwhile, for fans who purchased for Smart Araneta Coliseum, tickets will be assigned with equivalent seats at the New Frontier Theater.
For the fans who purchased online, your Smart Araneta Coliseum ticket will be voided and a new electronic ticket for the New Frontier show will be emailed to you starting May 1, 2023.
And, for those fans who bought thru Box Office and Outlet/s, your Smart Araneta ticket must be surrendered at the Ticketnet Box Office starting May 1, 2023 and your new tickets will be issued in exchange. Ticketnet Box Office is open daily from 10am to 8pm, including weekends.
The band promises to give their fans the same joy and energy, as they showcase their riffs and chops similar to their first Manila Concert.
Tickets are still available at ticketnet.com.ph. Tickets are priced at PHP 2,750 (lower box), PHP 4,750 (patron C), PHP 5,750 (patron B), PHP 6,750 (patron A), and PHP 7,250 (VIP).
Another good news for all the fans and ticket holders. Ovation Productions and the official media partner, Tap Go TV, are giving away Dream Theater concert tickets. Visit their official Facebook pages to see the full giveaway promo mechanics.

Today,Prime Video has announced that the reboot of the iconic Japanese smash hit game show Takeshi’s Castle, launched first in Japan last Friday, April 21, 2023, will again have a special humorous, localized Filipino version that will launch exclusively for Prime Video members in the Philippines at the end of this year.
The new 8-episode reimagined reboot will undergo a localized makeover, meaning that, in lieu of a regular translation, the entire script will be creatively refurbished, adding elements that are locally nuanced to ensure that it resonates deeply with Filipino audiences. On top of the creative-dubbing overlay, the show will be hosted by three Mariteses — to be announced at a later date — to emulate the highly popular, local neighbourhood gossip culture.
To emulate the nostalgic experience that Filipinos enjoyed back in the 80s and 90s, when comedians Anjo Yllana and Smokey Manaloto performed Emporer Takeshi and Iwakura respectively, the Mariteses will meet up at a sari-sari store and this episodic edit will cut to the three hosts in between games to hear their quips on the games and contestants and inject their own comedic twist to the Japanese game show.
“We are thrilled to bring the reboot of the iconic game show Takeshi’s Castle to Prime Video, which fascinated audiences in the Philippines and many other countries in the 90s, transcending languages and culture barriers,” said James Farrell, Head of International Originals at Prime Video. “Takeshi’s Castle made millions laugh, and we can’t wait for our audiences worldwide to relive this new and reimagined comedic gem on Prime Video.”
“Takeshi’s Castle marked a whole generation in the Philippines. We are delighted to have some of the funniest and most iconic talent in Philippine entertainment alongside each other to bring this reboot to life. Their participation on this show will help capture the imagination of a new generation of viewers, and delight original fans of the show,” said Erika North, Head of Originals at Prime Video, Asia-Pacific.
Takeshi’s Castle originally aired in the Philippines on linear TV between 1989 and 1994, becoming a major social phenomenon with millions watching the series weekly, and a huge hit particularly amongst children and young adults. To inaugurate the relaunch of the title — making its comeback for the first time in 34 years — Prime Video Japan, hosted a World Premiere of Takeshi’s Castle at Ebisu Garden Place, right in the heart of vibrant Tokyo. Press from Japan, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, the UK, and Spain were treated to an exclusive screening of the first episode of Takeshi’s Castle. This was followed by an official press conference, with the main cast of the show making a special appearance on stage.
Bringing the experience to life, a simulated on-ground activation of the iconic “Dragon God’s Pond” was set up nearby, to emulate the real-life gameshow and give a group of select press a taste of what it is like to be a contestant. At the same venue, journalists were also given exclusive interview access to Attack Captains Hayato Tani and Subaru Kimura as they talked of their excitement about playing an integral part in this show.
To round off this fun-filled, truly immersive event, journalists had the opportunity to interview Bananaman’s Osamu Shitara and Yuki Himura as chief retainer and vassal of Takeshi’s Castle and the title’s showrunners about their experience and excitement in resurrecting a show that once reached the apex of Japan’s cultural zeitgeist.
Takeshi’s Castle will join Prime Video’s growing library, including Southeast Asian titles such as the award-winning Before, Now & Then (Nana), Perfect Strangers, Ten Little Mistresses, and Korean titles such as Island and Love in Contract, anime hits such as Chainsaw Man, on top of award-winning and critically acclaimed Amazon Originals like The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, The Boys, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, and Emmy and Golden Globe winners Argentina 1985, Fleabag and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Prime Video members in the Philippines will be able to watch Takeshi’s Castle anywhere and anytime on hundreds of compatible devices. Prime Video is available in the Philippines for just 149 Pesos per month, new customers can find out more at primevideo.com and subscribe to a free 7-day trial.
“Mira is a very gentle character,” says Chopra Jonas. “I’ve played some very tough characters, so I was looking forward to tapping into my vulnerable side, reaching into the deep places in the heart. I’m a Cancer and a massive romantic – I really do believe in love and goodness. As cheesy as it might sound, it makes the world go around.”
Love Again tells the story of Mira Ray, a talented children’s book author and illustrator who deals with the loss of her fiancé by sending a series of romantic texts to his old cell phone number – without knowing that the number is currently being used by a different guy. Love Again, which also stars Sam Heughan and Celine Dion, opens exclusively in SM Cinemas on May 10.
“Priyanka has such a powerful presence,” says Jim Strouse, writer and director of the movie. “She’s the beating heart and soul of this film. You really feel what she feels.”
“Priyanka was one of the first people to read the script about two years ago,” says producer Esther Hornstein. “She’s such a strong person, and she made sure that her character wasn’t passive – that she’s in charge of her own life, figuring things out and doing it her own way. Priyanka also put such care to actually making sure that her character doesn’t feel like a stereotype, which is doubly important because I’m told that Love Again is the first global feature with an Indian woman in the lead role.”
Before meeting her magical match in Rob (played by Heughan), Chopra Jonas’s Mira Ray goes on a couple of dates that don’t pan out. And thanks to a fun casting choice, movie audiences get to see Chopra Jonas go on an epic fail movie date with her real-life husband, Nick Jonas, who plays a cameo role in the film. “We’ve done a few things before here and there, but never a full scene,” shares Jonas about his brief role. “It was a great, new experience for us.”
Love Again is distributed in the Philippines by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. Connect with the hashtag #LoveAgainMovie

One of the best homegrown players from the Philippines, Kai is considered as one of the top basketball prospects in Asia and has a significant following among Filipino basketball fans the world over. PUMA’s partnership with Kai marks the start of the brand’s expansion plans in the market as a full subsidiary. As the first Filipino hooper to be part of the global PUMA family, Kai shares the excitement of his fans at home and looks forward to engaging with them and achieving even greater things with the fastest sports brand in the world.
